Fun to watch a young man with such a big heart for KISS. It's like being in a time machine. Many of us old fans looked like you, talked like you before internet. We made video tapes and cassettes and sent in the mail to each other like a video/audio letter with music in between the talks.

It's crazy how Hot in the Shade has as many songs as Alive III (if you don't include the Star Spangled Banner) or Alive II (not counting the studio side)

'Shock Me' is the song that launched a million guitarists. The song was the first song that I learned. I saw the first and third LA Forum concerts in 1977, the concert when they recorded Alive 2.

2:10 I graduated from high school in 1987 and a lot of rock at the time was really overly produced. I agree with you as I didn't like it then and I still don't really like it now.

Mine are as a 57-year-old Kiss fan from 1974 to 78 then I was finished with them the disco album turned me off but to be fair Ace and Peter have some good songs on it. Number 1 Hotter than Hell number 2 Dressed to Kill number 3 Kiss number 4 Rockin roll over number 5 Love Gun number 6 destroyer But Alive is tied for first and Alive 2 is tied for second. I stopped listening after Dynasty. Although Domino was a great tune they played in bars at the time and I thought it rocked.

So right about nobody hates them more than the fans! I feel all sorts of torn. I always thought they ranked chronologically until whenever Gene gave up acting? Maybe 1991? 1990? 1989? Then they seemed to be excited to meet fans and see boobs again as a group of 4. In hindsight I rank them 1.KISS 2.Hotter than Hell 3.Dressed to Kill 4.revenge 5. Carnival of Souls. Only time the band was a 4piece band. The rest of my list doesn’t matter because the point has been made. The lyrics stayed ridiculous most of the time but the band was not a band except around the time before ALIVE! And around the touring time for ALIVE3

This is my opinion and I know many people will disagree with me but I think the best KISS album even though they all did not play on it but it still carries the KISS name is Ace Frehley's 78 solo album. To me it's the best release under the KISS name

interesting! I saw Kix during their Blow My Fuse tour in '89 after buying their CD from a Camelot Music at my local mall. It was in their Heavy Metal section, and that's the section I stuck to browsing through every weekend. What's really interesting for me (from my generation) is to listen to a younger generation talk about labels and who and what belongs where. Back then I thought they were fixed and permanent, now I know they aren't, they evolve and flex. Camelot had music stores in just about every major mall in America, and that was where many learned who was what. Camelot had their Heavy Metal Section: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Kiss, yes KIX, The Cult, and newer bands like Ratt, Bon Jovi, Poison, Warrant, Motley Crue, Great White, Whitesnake . . . . but as for Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Anthrax and some others they were NOT in Camelot's Heavy Metal Section, because they weren't Heavy Metal. Nope! They were in the "Thrash Music Section" which was much heavier than "heavy metal" a key feature of this budding genre was screaming masculine macho vocal, heavy guitar licks, fast drums . . . no they weren't called "thrash metal" but just plain ole "Thrash". During the 80s long hair and having it cover male ears was the norm. Short buzz cuts were called "crew cuts" and that came from the idea that those folks were square or dorks and just preparing their life for the future work crew that would hire them ("crewcut") or maybe the military etc. These labels you put on band are only temporary, the next generation of cultural authorities will redefine them all and put them into whatever category or label they like. Another feature of the 80s was the magazine racks, everywhere, including grocery stores . . they were much more diverse in types of magazines back then. It was common to have several Metal Magazines such as "Rip", "Circus", "Metal", "Hit Parader", and several others too, there were magazines for everybody back then. Rolling Stone Magazine was considered dorky, but held to high esteem by cultural authorities. You could pick up a copy of "Metal" at the grocery store and find Steven Tyler on the cover, or Jon Bon Jovi . . and Kix was featured too. Even today, you can go to Britannica Encyclopedia online and lookup Aerosmith, and they still call Aerosmith "Heavy Metal". Terms like Hair Metal and the other various types including "Thrash Metal" (with "metal" affixed to the end to include them) didn't start coming around until 1989, after the exit of Ronald Reagan as president. His administration loved freedom of competition, and that included freedom within the music industry to allow music genres (and hair styles) to flourish. However, as soon as George H.W. Bush came to office (the father) then all that acceptance was flushed. PMRC was common, and they stuck labels to warn parents, but truthfully they had few cultural affects at all. Nevertheless, they were the very vocal and highly visible front organization to distract the freedom loving public into thinking their square attitudes weren't to be worried about, because nonone considered them cool or powerful in changing minds, or preventing the sell of music they didn't like. Their warning stickers actually immature kids want to buy that music all the more. Behind the scenes, however, their were mega powerful forces$$$$ at work tearing down the rock music industry as we knew it. Their real power came with big money cultural institutions channeling untold millions of dollors towards radio stations, music labels, etc, in an effort to change the music, and by 1990 many of these mega popular "Heavy Metal" bands toned way down, even playing acoustic ballads, and adding adult contemporary lyrics, which although made the record lables and radio stations and bands millions$$$$ nobody really cared for it that much. So, the macho guys converted over to listening to grunge. Or, the military guys converted over the Metallica and Megadeath, which got relabeled as "metal" or "thrash metal" while the older mega popular bands got the "Hair" label added. The music really changed by 1989: listen to the heavy metal Great White's Once Bitten album, track by track, then listen to their 1989 followup "Twice Shy" which sounds more old fashioned and folksy. Also compare the metal 1987 Aerosmith's Permanent Vacation track by track with 1989's PUMP, where Steve Tyler dumps the yak-yak-yeow metal screaming for squealing soul diva signing. Also Motley Crue, compare the metal 1987 Girls Girls Girls to 1989 toned down Dr. Feelgood. During the early 1990s was the big culture change, and nobody realized it until after 2000, like frogs boiling in water. Yes, that was all engineered by cultural authorities who hated rock music, and that's why there's no more popular heavy metal like back then, with hit metal singles all over the radio all the time. Yes, death metal bands are allowed to get up on stage and make fools of themselves and their fans because in the end that's not popular nor cool

Hotter than Hell is my favorite if I had to pick. I do like "Magic Touch" off of Dynasty. "World Without Heros" is good off of The Elder. Other than that, I dislike Kiss. They're overrated. I prefer bands like Rush and Iron Maiden.
