Hi, I'm Rebecca!
I created this channel to help spread the joy of playing piano to as many people around the world as possible! If you've ever looked at a piano and thought "I wish I could just sit down and PLAY something!" then this channel is for you! Whether you've had years of piano education, or never even touched a piano before, piano improvisation can open you up to a WORLD of musical possibilities. And it's NEVER too late!
I share 3 types of videos on this channel:
1) Video piano tutorials
2) My performances of classical and modern piano pieces
3) My own original piano improvisations
Things you'll never say again after you learn piano improvisation:
"I wish I knew how to play piano."
"I haven't touched the piano in years."
"I can't remember how to play anything right now."
Things your friends and family with say after you learn piano improvisation:
"You're so creative!"
"How did you learn to play so beautifully?"

Thanks Rebecca. Gonna use some of these ideas with my piano students this week. With reference to your videos of course.
Also used by Bach :-) I noticed that you're counting from the beat, not to the beat why?? Articulate the Alberta this way and the music will come alive: 1], ta-ta-ta-2], ta-ta-ta-3], and so on. It's not written that way, which is a flaw of 18th century musical typography. It's also due to the way we teach rhythm to beginners by telling them it's like math. Music is neither visual nor mathematical. It is an aural art. Try counting towards the beat. It makes a lot more sense musically to do so. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada

Good content. I hope you're still active on this channel ❤
All the answers are yesssss
This is one of my favorite piano videos. I love the variety you present with the Alberti bass Making my own music is exactly what I want to do .Thanks for making this video
First video I've seen from your channel, but I have to say merci. I used La Méthode Rose which used lots of Alberti Bass from the start, and I didn't follow it well, and it was difficult since I have an inner ear proble. In fact, when i woiuld play songs from that book, I'd have to stop because of vertigo. Two weeks ago, I went back to page one and started playing every exercise again like it was a Mozart Sonata. And I've improved. My sightreading is much better also. Now I'm trying to play baroque songs on a ukulele and it really works well with an Alberti Bass.
So beautifully presented! Lovely musical playing!
Excellent teacher and tutorial! Thank you. Too bad you're not making any more videos.
Thanks a lot .
Thank you the examples, great video. Best wishes from Argentina!
Finally found a recording! Just got this today this helps!
Thanks, great job
any other pattterns out there
This is great. Thanks. For a left hand part to be an Alberti bass does it have to strictly follow the low-high-middle-high pattern? I'm thinking of a Schumann piece I've been looking at (Melodie. Opus 68 No.1) and the left hand looks a bit like this pattern but not quite.
Good job thanks
How could a genius teacher have only 500 subscriber? I am sure Rebecca has the Chanel in a short time. Be prepare to have thousands of subscriber cause your videos are superb!!
Ayo, how have you been? You were a teacher here in Sandy couple years ago, right?
I love this video, thank you Rebecca
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
Thanks for the performance.
Thanks for listening
Bravo!!! Very nice composition. I hope by now you have come up with a title for it. This would be nice background music for content creators. What type of d-piano are mastering? Are you using a vst plug-in? By the way, thumb's up!!!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! This particular video is one I recorded many years ago, without any good tech. I just propped my old iPhone on a shelf and recorded over my shoulder. It was more just so I could remember the composition without having to notate it, haha. Now that I started getting a bit more serious about recording, I like the Soft Piano vst from Spitfire Audio. Do you have a favourite vst plug-in?
@@rebeccaspianokeys9322 Thank you for your response. I think Piano One has a free piano that is said to be pretty good. Plogue Sforzando has nice free selections and, of course, Kontakt has the most prized selection of instruments. There are others as well. I have subscribed to hear more from you in the future.

Hi. I liked the technique. Please make a detailed video on combining chord and melody.
Glad you liked it! :) That's a great idea to create a video with some tips about shaping melody. The truth is, you can really compose your melody any way you want, it's a very personal choice. But one good tip to keep in mind is that ending on the tonic note of your key (ex: in the key of C major, the tonic note is C) will make a musical phrase feel complete, and ending on other notes of your key will make a phrase feel like there is more music to come. So you can play around with that to see what effects you can create in your music. :)

Great ideas - The theory nerd in me loved this video
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😊
You are doing a great work! Keep up!
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement, Júlia! 😊 Are you learning piano?
Rebecca's Piano Keys I am learning how to songwrite so I will buy ur book in the future for me to have a reference on theory
I recognised the tune immediately. However if I pick up an unfamiliar score and am trying to read the music in my head, counting or tapping the rhythm is often the easiest way to recognise the music rather than trying to pitch the notes. I also think rhythmic motifs are very important to give music character and interest.
Fascinating that you could recognize it with the drastically distorted rhythm! I've always found that very difficult to do! Obviously, there's a certain amount of stylistic "playing around" one can do with the rhythm of a piece of music that doesn't affect my ability to recognize the song, but when the rhythm is just completely changed I end up feeling out to lunch as a listener!
Immaculate method of teaching music theory
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! Which version did you find sounded more like Happy Birthday? The one with the right rhythm, or the one with the right notes?
Very easy to follow. Thank you
I'm glad you found it helpful! 😊
The right notes with the wrong rhythm sounded more like Happy Birthday +++++fK😎
That's so interesting! I can't recognize Happy Birthday at all in the one with the right notes and wrong rhythm. I always find it so fascinating to see how different people experience things so differently! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😊 I wonder if it will turn out more people hear it your way than my way? 🤔 A bit of a musical science experiment, haha!
This was very nicely explained thank you for sharing will be helpful for me I'm ur new supporter I play and make music on my channel will really appreciate if you give it a listen

Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. And hopefully your girlfriend will enjoy it too... perhaps it will lead the 2 of you to have many duets/jam sessions in the future! ;)
That was great! I'm looking forward to new videos :) Friendly advice: iron the background :D
Haha, yes, the background is brutal, lol! I've ironed it about a million times but there are some stubborn wrinkles that just refuse to let go. The struggle is real! 😂 I'm glad you enjoyed the video though! I have a list of topics that I'm planning to turn into more videos soon. Do you have any particular topics you'd like to request?
