My lifetime daydream was to drive and restore a 50's pickup truck and have it for daily use after , so finally here it is . I would have loved to keep it exactly as it is , including the rear broken window. Still, we have hard winters here in Transilvania , so i decided to open it up completely, restore the rolling chassis, the cabin inside and driveline, and finally keep the outside patina.

To really test drive the Little prince and the lean-over sidecar we had to take the bike to a track with very short runs, so the boys had to get used to the left-hand throttle, advance controls, hand-operated clutch lever, hand shifter then with the sidecar, and leaning it also over. After some days of adjustments and test rides we decided to take the Harley 350 Lightweight boardtracker to a racing track nearby for a whole day of testing and adjusting on the track . First, we tested the Handbuilt Miniature Motorcycle solo , then we mounted the sidecar but blocked it to work as an usual sidecar , and if we get in the right place for testing i would like to test the lean over sidecar too .

We decided to take out the Harley 350 , after Arpi and Tudor were timing the valves and magneto and test starting it at home . If we manage to get it running perfectly we hope to take it to the Racing Track . we still have to adjust the carburettor jets to run better in high RPM .

How about showing how the bike and side car lean at speed. Does it ride like a bike alone? Or do you have to "steer it " like a non leaning sidecar?

Hi M, great video! I have a stroker 861 cc(Truett & Osborn) harley wla that needs balancing.. Do u think this way will this work for my engine?
Indian factory blueprint for 1931 racing motors says to add a additional 4 oz weight in the aluminium piston and 2 oz for cast iron piston. That is moving the balance factor up in the rev range. So if you like to rev your engine, have the pin side heavier.
What is the compression , looks low from here ...

mark , im glad to hear that , unfortunately my shop was closed this winter by the gummiment . i will continue working on my own concepts, building my own engines and ideas , but once i will have the money to do so, for the moment I'm a happy farmer . best regards

it is a precise axle sliding in a brass bushing , that can be made harder to slide or easyer , something like a damper

Hy there Smitty , i used this type as i wanted to keep the vintage style , put there is a more easy way with a ball pivot under the bike , i saw it somewhere on the internet made on a BMW . it is easier to build for bikes with higher ground clearance ! enjoy the built !

i was modifying for a time , Russian sidecar leafes , and after a while i have discovered the ones from Trabant car .

Hy there , yes , sorry for using my own language :)) .they are coming off a harley Davidson XL rear wheel . the ironhead is the old shovel- sportster motor . i call all old sportsters ironheads . i know its not accurate . but they will never fit a stock indian . and they also shouldn't . kind regards
Them parts didn't look that good when they were new.
most of them have 2 layers of good quality coatings , and over the complete chassies i will spray a very good grease . should be preserved for the next 200 years :))

Looks great. The one thing I never did with my old scout was look in the gearbox!
it is a very very simple gearbox , that is one reasons why i fell in love with indians . will post another video when i close it down with all sideplays . regards
@@BastybikesArt well mine was the old gutless 741b, that I think was fitted with Chief gearbox, so the gears probably thought someone was out there pedalling! Gearbox would be the last thing to break on those! 😂

I found this today. I havn't driven one of them things in 40 years. The engine is called a stove bolt 6. Look up Redline rebuild. It's the same truck and they did the same as what you want to do. This guy is a rael pro with lots of resourses. They make realy good videos. th-cam.com/video/gJx4Ze-j348/w-d-xo.html

Curious what your idea is! A friend of mine had a pretty clean '58, many years ago. Hell, i even kinda like the paint! Such a great project!
I hope to restore all technical details and leave the ruff outside look as it is, maybe clear-coated if it's needed to get it registered .
