It's very interesting to me to hear you perspective on Smash and especially Brawl being your first one. For me I had the same with the first Smash bros which I had to play at a friends place. When I owned my first console being the Gamecube, Smash melee was one of the first games I wanted to have and have played so many hours on it. HOWEVER, when news released that a new Smash game was coming out, I was absolutely HYPED. They released information very slowly on what the roster would be, which items and stages were new. So I literally had the website favorited and refreshed it daily, to check if there was any news. When it came out though, it released in USA 6 months before it did on EU, where I live. I could not wait 6 months to play this and luckily I was not the only one. There was an unofficial set you could buy to 'hack' your Wii into thinking it was American. This would allow you to play an American game version of Smash on your EU Wii. I was the first of a lot of friends to have it and it was so awesome! I fondly remember holding a break the targets world record for a few weeks, which I achieved with my little brother. Nostalgia is also very strong with me on this version despite having played the previous ones as well.

Finally someone said it, I always wanted to see the way someone who was an Xbox or PlayStation kid would think about the Wii and brawl, in glad to say for the first time in my life I beat Subspace Emmisary after 8+ years of wanting to finish it

This made me realize i enjoy some of these limitations. When there are too many pokemon to choose from and too much to do it loses its flavor for me. The rpg vibes is why i play it . we all had different “first pokemon” experiences and that shaped us. I cant imagine my first exposure to Pokemon being after RBY or GSC. Growing up with it is what made it so special for me. Being there from the beginning before it was even popular and seeing it catch on and become a phenomenon. I did the same with yugioh. Had my comic shop order them before it was even a thing in the states. It brings me great joy that decades later both are still running and going strong❤

Interesting perspective

From a Game Designer’s perspective, I agree with most things you’ve said. There’s much more to add to the reasons why Platinum is the greatest Pokémon experience. But I understand you wouldn’t want to make the video 1 hour long or smth.😂 Anyway, good video. However it could have been leaks better if your background music, was actually background music and not so loud.😅🤷‍♂️ Maybe you can do a reupload? Cause I’d like to show this to a friend of mine. But when he can actually clearly hear you.😁

lets be real, no nostalgia goggles; the entire first three gens sucked. even if we looked at them through the lens of them being old as dirt, they really couldn't figure out their physical/special system was houndour shit? even if i detest the newest games, at least they have functional base mechanics!

You know what would be cool? If someone did a no commentary longplay of Pokemon Platinum (post game included) with the Pokemon Paul uses. Torterra, Ursaring, Electivire, Weavile, Honchkrow, Ninjask, Gliscor, Magmortar, Hariyama, Nidoking, Aggron, Gastrodon (East Sea), Drapion, Froslass, Gyarados, Garchomp and Metagross. You can even name the player Paul too.

For me.. gen 4 is like gen 1.. It gives A LOT of nostalgia.. But I can't bring myself to play them again.. I would prefer to play a 3rd gen rom hack of johto than to play HGSS.. or just replay my Crystal..

Platinum was the first time I learned about EVs… so after spending way too much time in diamond it’s like the Pokémon world had opened up to my 14-15 year old self. Summer of 2009 was Xbox live and platinum all day haha

Not going to lie about this, I was a heavily over invested Pokémon fan as a kid I have played every single one to date when they launched roughly… You couldn’t pay me to keep playing platnium post Giritina .. I HATED platnium so much, pacing, the clunky battle speed in particular.. endless amounts of sturdy mon… I get if it’s your first or second gen sure maybe .. It’s not that good at all But THATS SOULY my opinion on that matter

I do not appreciate the Defog Slander, it is such a great move. It clears Screens, Spikes, Rocks and Mist and Safeguard and lowers Evasion. It may be useless in the field but it’s a fantastic usable move, unlike with Whirlpool. I do wish they would have remade Platinum instead of Diamond and Pearl. Still baffles me why they went with their games over the superior one. And I definitely agree with you on HGSS. It is overhyped and as a fan of Eevee the fact that you cannot get Leafeon or Glaceon without trading is dumb as hell. It gets put on my C tier automatically.

Tbh, I’m truly hoping they remaster the older games. I got Zesteria, Berseria, Abyss, Vesperia, Arise, and recently Symphonia (I don’t care if it’s a meh port, never got to play it before). Regardless, I’m pretty green to this series, and I would LOVE to play the older Tales games. I’d pay for a remaster of Graces, Hearts, a Xillia bundle, and some of the older 2D games. Tbh tho I’m more interested in the 3D titles but the 2D titles look interesting. Heck, I’d play Tales of The World. I try to be as optimistic as I can. Tales has become my favorite JRPG series ever, and I hope these older games see new light.

To be honest, I only clicked on this video because I read the title too fast and thought it was about the Trails games.

As a guy who only played both Berseria and Arise, I don’t think that Arise killed the franchise, more like caused a split between the fandom. I personally enjoyed the stories, gameplay and characters of both games. I do think that maybe a new Tales of Game will live up to the sales success of Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy and Persona. As for the ports of the other Tales of games, I think that Abyss and Xillia will get ports someday. Not so sure about Zesteria and Grace due to how a lot of fans didn’t like those games.

It's time to move up my brother, as someone who also grew up with niche IPs like Tales, Namco found other cash cow IPs. Even though we got the G.U. series back, the infection series is only available through emulation. So even just banking on remasters won't work because outside of ToS, ToX, and now arise most of the other Tales titles are like the niche of the already niche Tales series. And if you really look at it, Tales has been here FOR AWHILE, but they have always been niche. They made their mark on the action JRPG genre, and they should be celebrated. Wouls you rather they have an amazing legacy or live long enough to become a mo.....oh wait, they did do mobile games.

They rereleased Symphonia for the fourth time. And Rebirth was still never released in Europe.

I loved the old school tales games, not a fan of the newer entries. It sucks the ps1 and ps2 games are not available even if it was just digitally.

The last good Tales was Beseria, if only they could keep making stories that good, then they could have a consistent winning formula. The games just tend to be more hit and miss than anything.
