Geography and geology is interesting to me. This was fun and I didn’t know. Thank you Canada.
There must be hundreds if not thousands of these small obscure islands all over Canada, you could probably dedicate your whole channel just to identify and talk about each one of these islands in their own videos!
Yes I can, and I thought about it! I’m just worried the viewers will get bored of it 😅😅
Stunning views cruise ships will be jumping on this.with their garbage Nd sewage this are needs to be PROTECTED
Actually, your French pronunciation is more or less okay on 'L'Assomption, but Port- Menier would be pronounced 'Por Muhnyay' rather than 'Muneer'.
Ali - you are so right about biases and relativity. I have lived in Vancouver for over 35 years and marvel today (and not often in a good way) about the extent of the Greater Vancouver Area's built environment; its now feeling quite huge and somewhat overpopulated (based on the geographical contingencies which are determining factors in its growth. As for Vancouver proper, it has recently been superseded in population by our own 'Mississauga West' - the suburb of Surrey.
Caught a Narwhal summer of 2024 at Sam Ford Fjord one of the memories ill never forget
Those fjords won me over
They are stunning!
Ferni, BC, home of Shred Kelly: an awesome, high energy band!
Pretty sure the largest gathering of snakes is in Ottawa...
😂😂😂
Sakatoon huh?
Northern Alberta also has sand dunes, amazing off roading.
Manitoba has several sand dune areas where cactus grows.
I've been to Little Manitou Lake near Watrous, SK. Brine shrimp are big enough to see with the naked eye. Should you swimming, it's pretty cold, there are fresh water showers to dissolve the crust of salt off your body when you're done.
I am fron the Québec province I like your podcasts. I was wondering if you would do one about the Northwest Territories. As a Canadian citizen I find we don't hear much about those Northern territories.Thank you and continue the good work.
Thank you sir!
Cool video. I am born and raised in iqaluit. Most of my family though is from the northern part of baffin Island. The contrast in geography is pretty different from the south of baffin than the the north if baffin.
That’s awesome brother! It’s my dream to one day visit your island and hike amongst the peaks of the akshayuk pass.
So while I'm amazed by Canadas wonders I'm also guilty of always forgetting about them
It’s ok, there are so many it’s hard to remember 😅
Beautiful. So Vast and harsh. Keep making these, I learn with every video.
Thank you!
Alternatively this video could have been titled “the horrors of low density sprawl” J/k

I love reading stories like these, thanks for sharing ❤️
In late sixties Early seventies Mt Baker Was steaming For years
Must have been a scary sight!
OMG THE PANIC IS HUGH 👽👽👽🐉🦎🐉🦎THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY ANYMORE 😂😂😂😂
Another great video! Always wanted to see Baffin Island and Greenland. Maybe someday.
I hope you get a chance to visit Baffin Island and Greenland 🙏🙏
I get the point of the video, but its misleading to say Edmonton is bigger than Denver. Its only meaningful to compare metro areas.
The main takeaway is that the majority of US Cities are actually an agglomeration of several medium or small sized cities whereas, the majority of Canadian cities are mainly just the city “proper”, the only major exceptions being Toronto and Vancouver.
Who Are You To Tell Canadians We Are Not Aware Of - You must be a maga - You Worded this Wrong & Your Words are Insulting
Sorry you felt insulted, wasn’t my intention. To be clear, I am Canadian.
This has got to me one of my favourite and close to my hear videos! I am from Edmonton and I was there when the population was nowhere close to 1 million, it has grown so much since the oil and sands and then again now with people from Ontario moving there due to unachievable housing prices.
💯💯💯
Asgard and Thor sound oddly familiar 😅😅😅
lol 😂 and Odin as well
I lived in Mission BC for 28 years. We often had tremors from the mountain. We saw steam eruption from the vents on Mount Baker. We also wen there to ski........ Now I live in southern Alberta, away from the most dangerous volcanic areas of Canada.
Awesome facts! I only knew about Mt. Thor.
Thank you!
My take away is that it's hard to compare Canadian and American cities by population as many American cities have much larger CMA populations relative to the well known city within that CMA.
The Geography of BAFFIN ISLAND explained.good
What are those large circular indents that are white , green, brown etc . They look like sunken ground from frost heaves? Or asteroid impacts?
Excellent question, those are thermokarst lakes, also known as a thaw lake; they are formed as permafrost thaws underground causing the ground to slump and eventually fill with water creating the lakes you see in the satellite view.
Why is it that on your channel it is not yet possible to hear the vocal translation in other languages (so not the uncomfortable subtitles that have been there for years) of what you say? 😐
I’m not sure, that’s for bringing that up I will look into it.
@@Urban_Atlas thanks! I'm sure your channel would have many more subscribers 😊
Very nice video, learned something about a place I've never been
I’m glad you did!

Baffin Island. That’s my kind of island
💯💯
highly suggest more videos on areas of the nunavut territory. I spent two weeks this summer canoeing down the Rae River to the arctic ocean near the town of Kugluktuk in western Nunavut. Absolutely stunning scenery I love the canadian arctic
I've been up to Iqaluit, my parents lived there for a few years so my wife and I brought our son up to visit them. at the time you could get a discounted flight if you booked a tour/excursion with one of the local tour groups ahead of time, not sure if you still can, but for anybody thinking about visiting its worth looking into.
How was your experience of Iqaluit?
@@Urban_Atlas it was an experience that i tell everybody they have to do at least once. one thing to keep in mind is that you should really plan out your trip before you go, it's not exactly a place to just go and enjoy the nightlife and do a walking tour, its small, you'll run out of places to walk very quickly. book one of the excursions, you can't exactly leave town unless you have a gun in case there is a polar bear, since there aren't any roads leaving too far out of town, it'll have to be by foot or offroad vehicle, so you'll need a guide.
I was born on Baffin Island
"My favourite island in all of Canada." PEI: "And I took that personally, b'y"
Mississahgah
😀
😄
Another good one. I really wish there was some way for young Canadians to visit Baffin Island, with all its spectacular natural wonders and its unique culture, without spending a fortune to do so.
Me too! Visiting Auyyutiq NP is up there for me. Maybe one day.
I was in Frobisher Bay in '73 I think, I was a Military Engineer and we were walking toward the Arctic Circle, quite an experience. I'm happy for the Innu and Innuet but it is truly shameful that we are avidly losing our English heritage. I took my Recruit Training at CFB Cornwallis; this man founded Halifax and by extension, Canada. We have removed his monument and erased his name. We are to imagine the French as wonderful people who really loved the Indians and used to pay them handsomely for English scalps. History is remarkable but like everything it becomes a weapon of war.
7:25 I can see my house! 😂
😅😅😅
I've always been fascinated with Baffin Island and Nunavut in general. Great video, and I am so glad that you had cool footage and photos, instead of the recycled stock imagery of so many other channels.
Thank you!
Iqaluit population is hard to measure accurately.
