Hi! I didn't prepare specifically for IISER. I was preparing for CBSE and entrance exams in general. That helped me with IISER. Also, I had both Bio and Maths so I was able to solve questions from both the sections. I would suggest you to start from the very basics and learn the concepts. Try doing questions from each concept. Keep giving mocks and analyse them no matter which level of preparation you are at. All the best!! 😊

Have you appeared for the KVPY exam? If yes, then you can go via KVPY or SCB. If no, then you can get in via SCB or IIT JEE channel. These were the rules for 2021. Things might change for 2022. There are a couple labs that work with plants. So you can do your Msc-PhD there. Although, I'm not sure if that would be written as botany specialisation on your certificate.

Like on the internet it was written biological sciences which includes botany as well as zoology I guess...so what is the procedure for admission??

IISER is an UG-PG college and not for 11th & 12th. So after 12th only.

Well there are many. You can go to the websites of IISERs and look for notable alumni.

I was a Bio student. You definitely can become one. Just make sure you know what you want and take the right projects during your time at IISER. :)

I had a normal laptop which worked perfect for me. Then I switched to pavilion simply because I had to change my laptop. Have never used the 360 feature in my life. My roommate had a normal laptop throughout the 5 years. I also had a friend who only had an iPad for 5 years. Both of them faced no problems. It depends on your preference I guess. I would suggest a normal laptop. Laptop because you will have to make ppts, use referencing softwares and other technical softwares. Normal because trust me, 360 feature in pavilion won't be useful. You can always type and make notes, that's what most people did. :)

@@akshitakumari9232 again, it's based on your preference. I prefered pen and paper during classes. After classes, we had to study from ebooks and PDFs, so used to highlight stuff on them.

Arreyyy, I can feel you. I missed my last year at IISER, the one year I wanted to spend in IISER completely. But that's part of life. I hope you get to go soon. They're calling people back slowly.

Thank you for subscribing 🤧 You'll probably be at IISER in your 3rd year. So don't worry, you won't miss out on the experience of working in labs. IISER will make sure you don't leave without doing it, haha.

@@dishathere5163 Yeah, but apart from the labs we are also missing out on the campus fun that we earned with our hard work for more than 2 years. 😥

@@Ascientistsjourney I agree. The first two years are usually the most chill because after that, you won't have time to even breathe. But look at it this way, enjoy all the time you've got at home because you won't get to come back for a few years after.

I can't speak on behalf of other IISERS, but at Pune, there's no ragging at all. In my time, the seniors were super friendly and won't even let you call them with honorifics like 'bhai' or 'didi'. We even had a pre fresher's party just to ensure us that there'll be no ragging and we all are equal no matter which year we are in. That's the best part about Pune.

Hi, the answer is no. No such clear bias towards kvpy scholars. Everyone will be viewed with the same lens when it comes to internships. However, cgpa during your time at IISER might matter.
