    You don't have to grind down that spacer that's not the proper spacer. That silver when you're using isn't what you want it fits perfectly right out of the box with the gold threaded piece that's already in it you don't have to do anything with the adapters throw them away

    High idle is something you need to allow the engine to do if idling for more than 2-5 minutes, diesel engines are happy warm since diesel fuel doesn’t ignite in the same manner as gasoline or kerosine. Leave your hood down, especially if you decided to run cold air intake. I own a few 7.3s and the one thing I learned, yea it’s cool to do a lot of the chips, mods, more horse power but the only engines I’ve had no real significant issues with, were some one owner, kept factory stock trucks, one has about 432,000 miles. Yet I had to rebuild a motor that was chipped at 170,000 miles and replace the Transmission. So….

    I purchased this same unit, put on a speed head, and threw away the one that came right out of the box. I am a homeowner with 1.5 acres and several fenced areas. I have purchased my last gas trimmer. I really love this unit. It is comfortable to use, and I normally never use it at more than 2/3 power. I use a lot of different Makita 18 V power tools, I have 8 batteries charged, so I always have them ready for use.

    Ahhhh, it's a NO for me. Going to take that tooth, place it in the vice, take a flat file and work the rounded backside and then give a few passes to the top portion until I have a sharp (90?) on the tooth and that will be good enough.

    That's how a heavy duty diesel engine should work when idling for a long time, I understand because you are not in control of it it can be frustrating, does it have cruise control? If I was you I'd remap it with a 6 position TS tune and you should be good 👍

    Seems to me the problem is 36V isn't quite enough for tall weeds without blogging down and stalling. Their new 40V line isn't that much more powerful. You'd need at least a 56V like the Echo X series DSRM2600, Dewalt 60V or Ego 56V.

    Excellent video. Had no idea a wheel like this existed. Have only seen a flat wheel used and the result from a flat wheel is inconsistent on the radius. In the USA, there are guys who advertise sharpening yellow jacket teeth. Simply ship the teeth to them and the return sharpened. The cost of the sharpening is good, but the freight is significant due to the weight. I have used a local sharpening guy for quite a few years, but the marginal results and cost have made me look for alternatives. I tend to run the teeth a bit too long and have lost the ability to sharpen both faces on enough teeth to simply make up two sets of teeth that can no longer be indexed to the second face. Thanks for providing the source for the wheel.

    This has convinced me to go with green teeth if I get a Vermeer. I use the regular Leonardi teeth on my current grinder and I can sharpen all the way down to a few mm left of tungsten tips. By the look of these there would be at least half of the tip on either side still there and you would either be compromising its strength or hitting the pockets instead of the tooth...

    • @jimmygreen50
      @jimmygreen50 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what you mean. The tip could never wear down so it hits the pockets. Maybe you don't know how these teeth work. However use whatever teeth floats your boat. I use yellow jackets have for 15 years and have had no issues with them breaking, sharpening etc. Go green if you want.....they are simply sharp teeth. Cheers

    • @ryancockerill4484
      @ryancockerill4484 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jimmygreen50 around the 4min mark when you find the example of a tooth that is worn down too far to sharpen, looks like you have about 10mm either side of the centre line, I would be wanting to use that down to 2mm either side. To do that you would have to grind the tooth back as far in as the mounting pin, which would cause the compromise in strength or end up hitting the pockets instead of the teeth. Leonardi have similar tip and body shape, but as you wear and sharpen, you just pull more of the tooth out of the pockets to get your distance from the wheel and pockets. If I can find some pics of mine that are really worn vs new I will try upload and tag you or comment here

    okay if your still trying to solve this problem i think i can help you. i know this was posted in 2019 but who knows. it seems as if the exhaust back pressure valve is activating. if you shut the truck off while its in low idle pop the hood and look right under the turbo right on the pedestal that it sits on theres a little plug that i wanna say only has one wire on the plug or maybe 2 with a little clip over it unplug that and start the truck and see if its still going into high idle. if you need more info on it let me know i can help you out

    Hi Jimmy do yellowjackets need to be sharpened to a specific angle?

    • @jimmygreen50
      @jimmygreen50 ปีที่แล้ว

      I stick to the existing angle on the tooth. I think as long as it's slanted as before you should be good to go. I have not had any issues to date. Sharpened teeth are about 90%. Not as good as a new tooth but pretty close.

  • @max88nielsen
    @max88nielsen ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi again Jimmy Could I please ask you to measure the the inside diameter of the cutting grove? My yellow jacket are 0,77 inches wide but the webside states the whell is made for tooth that are 0,75 inches wide. And are you happy with the gritt marks on the tooth after grinding with a 40 grit diamond abrasive? I wonder if 60-80 grit would be better. But it would mean longer grinding times. I'm from Denmark and I will have to order from a company here in Europe. The import fees from USA to Denmark are unfortunately just to crazy. Kind regards Max

    • @jimmygreen50
      @jimmygreen50 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Max.... I did not measure it but it is slightly smaller than the stock size tooth....I'm assuming this is to resize the tooth to sharpen it. Mine seems to fit slightly tighter when starting the grind which makes sense. I would also assume the disk does wear over time and become wider so the tighter fit compensates for this. As far as the grit goes....it's fine...the teeth come out sharp and no heavy grit marks.....I have not noticed any issue with the end result. I will say the end result after grinding the teeth is very acceptable. I will also say I grind about 30 stumps a week on average of all sizes and have not had any issues with unsharp teeth. As with any blade they don't last forever. So I will replace teeth after 2 sharpening max.

      So far I have ground about 120 teeth give or take double sided and minimal wear on the wheel. So if you add up the cost of these teeth less the price of the wheel it's paid for itself 2.5x already with lots of life left on it. Really hard to say but I would expect 400 plus maybe more?

Then take about 8 feet of line and feed it thru the eyelet thru the middle button and back out the opposite eyelet. Pull it even half way and use the middle bump button and holding the outside of the head twist it to the right I believe to wind the line in. Stop when it's loaded....hope this helps and I wish you best of luck and sending good thoughts to you and your husband.
