    US vet here, I don't get why European military like parade, and have to dress in Dress/Ceremony uniform to do them. The only time we do parade in the US is when you pass out of a school, and you only wear Dress uniform when you do OCS or Basic graduation parade, we use ACU mostly (UCP now) for all other parade. I don't even remember last time I did parade after I got out of ROTC.........this is not a dig to European military but I sincerely have no idea why they do that.

      It's predominantly tradition at this point, harks back to the days of marching armies. Though, it's actually mainly taught for discipline reasons now, which makes sense (and is probably the same in the US). We do love a good marching parade in the UK though, we still have them on Rememberance Day, but also technically hold them with the changing of the Guard. It's also not just the military that practices and performs it, a lot of Cadet organisations do it too, to then participate in traditions like Rememberance Day parades. Our Emergency Services have these schemes and they too teach drill, perform in parades and, at least in the case of Police Cadets (can't comment on Fire or Paramedic), have their own dedicated uniforms (I actually had 2, 1 had a modified shirt to make flag baring easier, even though it made 0 difference lol)

    • @cosplayshop
      @cosplayshop 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@junebug1603 Except Drill team, we weren't taught marching that much, it's always seen as a discipline thing like when you have to fall into formation rather than a parade style march. We do parade mostly as I said as a rite of passage, and also some unit will march on the 2-veteran holiday in a float. We march in combat uniform most of the time, except when it's a graduate parade and some high-level function we will march in Dress Uniform. And it's also worth notice that we do not have Parade Uniform, we either use Dress Blue (am Army) or ACU when we march, Dress Green were sometime used depends on occasion. As for Police and Firefighter, they are more or less the same as the military....

      You telling me that Cadets in West Point don't often have Dress Ceremony uniforms out?? Surely the Westpoint cadets don't walk around campus in ACU/UCP for most of the time?? You telling me there is no pomp and decorum at Westpoint? Sandhurst is the British equivalent of Westpoint , they are all going to be minted as officers. ACU's is for shooting range/field work only for Officer cadets.

    • @cosplayshop
      @cosplayshop 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@stijnvandamme76 Huh? We are talking about parade.....Not uniform......Westpoint only have 2 (or 3 if you count the seasonal) parade, Spring (and Winter intake) Parade and Graduation Parade Anyway, for uniform, cadet everyday wear for class room is a variation of ASU, so Shirt/Pants/Skirt (female cadet) combo, instead of black coat, white shirt and blue pants (or black skirt) the Cadet wore grey/white combo. The cadet uniform you are referring to (the one that look like Civil war era uniform) were only worn in special occasion (including taking soldier portrait) and parade. Yes, they don't wear them around every day...They probably wear them 4 or 5 times a year
