I must say I’ve turned into a yarn snob. I dislike acrylic for most things. But I have used it blankets than can be put in the washer and dryer. I love merino wool. That has become my favorite. Thanks for sharing.

I've got three GAP scarves made of 100% merino wool and the care instructions say, "Hand wash cold, only non-chlorine bleach when needed, reshape and dry flat, warm iron, do not dry clean." 🤷‍♂️ I bought them 15 years ago - I hand washed one of them per instructions and it never looked the same and was essentially ruined. I've never washed the other two and they still look brand new. Mind you, I live in SoCal and they're rarely ever worn. But yeah... The washed one just looks uglier than the others.

Satin was easier and cheaper for me to get ahold of. And was very pretty, so I personally went for satin. I have very little experience with silk. But from what I researched the difference isn't big.

I wish I could love polyester satin, but as a man, there are few uses for it where breathability won't be an issue. It doesn't breath at all as a jacket liner in my experience. Cotton satin is weak, snags even more easily and doesn't clean easy.

I process wool, spin, knit, an crochet. You gott some things right, but some things wrong as well. It's not short length or subs that make wool itchy, that has more to do wit micron count, or the diameter of the fibers. Anything below 25 microns can be worn next to the skin by most people. If you have very sensitive skin, I'd probably go with anything under 20 microns. Longer staple lengths are less likely to pill and more likely to be spun in the worsted style. Short staple lengths tend to makes fuzzyer yarn and be spun in the woolen style. They also require more twist. I'm glad you brought up breed, that is important. Yes, Merinos are fine wooled sheep, but there are other breeds that are as well such as Ramboulet and Cormo. Also, you absolutely can handwash wool, but I recommend looking up how to take care of wool before attempting that. If you don't know what you're doing you can felt the wool, which will shrink it.

Thank you for making this clear Today i just washed my 100% soie/silk scarf without the knowledge of taking care of it. It kinda bleeds in the water and i panicked 😭 I disregarded the tag that says dry clean only. Will never wash it again on my own

Satin and Silk were sent to us from the Gods, to whom I will be forever grateful! I collect Satin shirts and they are absolutely magnificent: I take 3 hours over the ironing, doing sections in a cautiously chosen order, with lots of cooling fans and other gadgets. The result is beautiful beyond belief, and my house has broken out in wardrobes. Thanks for all the information about Satin and Silk - about these wonderful fabrics, there can never be too much information.

Great informative video, and what about satin fabric made only from cotton, not polyester? is polyester satin more shiny than cotton satin? I found some pillowcases on internet which are made of cotton satin, but it looks like they are not that shiny, could it be?

As You are aware satin is a very special smooth and wonderfully beautifully shiny weave. I Love Polyester Satin because it can be Ironed So it is more Shinier and much Smoother. Polyester Satin has brought much joy to my Life. 😍😍😍💗💗💗

Yeah I also didn't want anything from customization 3 or 5.

I prefer silk, hands down. Never had an issue with using a good quality shampoo diluted in water (a bathroom sink full), & then doing the same with a conditioner - with a final rinse. If you have hard water you can also used distilled water for the final rinse (such as I do for my hair). Air dry only. I've also thrown them in a delicates bag & washed them on delicate with a delicate laundry detergent. It doesn't come out as soft as my hand wash technique, but I also am not using a fabric softener (though delicate fab softener can also be found), & I'm not rinsing with distilled. But even though it's not as initially soft, it only seems to take about 1 or 2 nights of use to softened the fibers.
