Exploring Asakusa with a Japanese Touch: Sensoji Temple & More | Suzy's Discover Japan 🇯🇵
I'm travelling to Japan for the first time in a few weeks and want to buy a vintage kimono so this video was very helpful and informative. Thank you Suzy!
Awwwww🥹 thank you so much! It gave me power to continue my channel 🫶🏻
Kyoto is really beautiful and your red kimono at the end of the video looks really vibrant!
Thank you! That Kimono is very formal one which I made at my coming of aged day (25 years ago!!😉)Kimono has very long life👍
I happy that your happy
Thank you!! So happy to find Kimonos I like with reasonable price 😂
Thank you for your detailed introduction, you look beautiful in this kimono as well.😊
@@leipeng-pz7yl Thank you so much for your kind message 😊
what size in men? i am XL IN MENS IN THE U.S.? PRICE?
Thank you for asking. The size is based on length and length of arms. If you are taller than 175cm, it might be difficult to find your size in second hand shop. In that case, I recommend you to buy Samui or Haori. Consider Japanese size is one size smaller than the American size. I saw the Samui shop sold big size, too. Good luck!
First timer to your channel! I’m very happy to find you. I like that at the beginning of the video, the people were out of focus. I always want to keep people anonymous in a crowd when I’m filming. Your video helped me with my casual Japanese and learning about kimonos. 👘 Your club is such a good idea. I’d love to always wear kimono 👘. I try to wear my yukata as much as I can during the summer months. As I get to know more about the kimono culture, I’ll spend more money on them. I’m lucky to live here and visit these great shops frequently.
Oh, that’s nice you experience Japanese Kimono culture like that!! Thank you for the nice comment. I am considering to hold Kimono events for non-Japanese people in future ☺️My dream!!
Thank you for this amazing video Suzy. You are awesome 🙂
Awww...so happy. Thank you!!
This was a lovely video, thank you for sharing 😊. Your english is very impressive. Looking forward to the kitchen knife video
Great! Thank you very much for your positive feedback!
I’m going to Japan in november and am so grateful I discovered your channel today. Second hand kimono deserve some love as well, that way they get a new chance to make someone happy ❤ Can you easily get a kimono if you’re short (1,57m) and overweight?
Thank you for your comment!! November is very good season to travel. Good weather season!! The tall 150-157cm and around 45-55kg is the most common size and easy to find. If you ask the store staff to find your size, they will be happy to help you. It's too much work to check one by one yourself (the size tag is too small usually). 👍
Hi! Do you know any good online stores to buy kimonos? Also for the nagajuban do they have a opening? To put the erishin? I recently found a nagajuban but I don’t see an opening for the erishin.
I buy second hand Kimono online through Mercari but it would need a Japanese address. I checked online and this shop looks fine with nice price range and variety. www.kimono-yukata-market.com If you do not find any opening to insert Eishin, maybe it has not been placed the Haneri. (Normally it is sold with Haneri already.) Need to sew yourself to put a sheet of Haneri.
WOW! Such a great video! I wish this was released last November when I went. But its ok I'm going again this November and this video was a great help! Thank you :D
Oh, you came in last November and will come here in this November! That is great. Enjoy your stay.
beautiful kyoto i hope we can visit there someday with my family
Yes!! I hope you will come. It was amazing place and its different from other part of Japan.
Great video Suzy, love the knife shop scene
Thank you so much!!
Very insightful. I love your joyous vibe in the video. Thank you!
Thank you!! Happy to hear that!
Very informative. I plan to go there in August and your suggestions were all where I would like to include, thank you!
Nice!! It's soooo hot in Tokyo, so I also would like to recommend you to go to a short trip to mountain area such as Nagano and Yamanashi. Have a good time!
Hi Suzy! I just discovered your channel and I can't thank you enough for the information you shared. I own a few Kimonos from second hand stores and wanted to learn more. If possible, can you make a video of your Kimono collection? I would be happy to watch it! Lots of love from the Philippines ❤️👘
Oh! Thank you for a nice idea!
For a work project I'm researching Kimono. Trying to learn as much as possible so I can give a ten minute talk about them. That's why I've come across your channel and now I'm definitely going to buy a Kimono when I next go to Japan. Thanks for showing how to shop for Kimonos and that they are within budget!
That's great!! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me.
I downloaded the Suica App and charged the Suica card using ApplePay. I will test if this works for my upcoming trip to Japan.
Thank you for this video. So helpful. Arigato .
Happy to hear that!!
Hi Suzy can you please make a guie on where can we get traditional Japanese jewellery like Kanzashi hair jewellery etc in Japan in affordable prices. There is no guide video anywhere on TH-cam. Your kimono video was so helpful. Arigato.
Thank you for your comment!! If you have a chance to go to Harajyuku, Tokyo, I highly recommend you to check DAISO (100 yen shop at Takeshita St.). They have lots of variety of souvenirs of Japanese style. Much more than any other 100 yen shops. Other options are...there are always some stores like that at shopping street towards to big shrines or temples. I believe you will come across some shops. If you want a nice ones with good quality, I highly recommend you to go to department stores in big cities. At Kimono section (normally like 6th floor) or ladies fashion item section. Good luck!!
@@SuzysDiscoverJapan thank you so much for the information.
Hi! If our hotel is in Shinjuku what is the most convenient transportation? Thanks
I think BUS!!
@@SuzysDiscoverJapan thank you
I love, love, love, Japan! I was lucky enough to live and work there for 3 years. Thank you for this video. If have a chance to travel there i would love to look through those shops you highlighted. Thank you so much!
Thanks for your comment! That's nice to live in Japan to experience the real life. I hope you will come back soon!
Does the Airport Limousine from Narita airport stop or take me to Shinjuku Washinton Hotel, do i ask the driver?
It's better to ask the hotel directly or at the ticket counter. Good luck!
Lobely Lady, thank you...Elisa Finch from California...
Elisa, thank you so much!
Hi Suzy! Thanks for the video :) What do you think is the best month to come to Japan? Last time I went in November it was incredible but next time I would love to change a little bit, what would you recommend?
It's depends on where you go, but in May (after Golden Week) and October is perfect season with beautiful weather. We consider spring and autumn is travel season. If you come in summer, it's better to avoid Tokyo and Kyoto and just escape heat going to Hokkaido and mountain area, or go to Okinawa!
Wish I can go back to Japan soon, I would love to buy a pretty Haori! Last year I bought an amazing used kimono, it was so cheap I found it in a small shop in Kyoto :)
Nice!!
Thank u Suzy .your video is very informative and helpful on suica card.
Thank you so much!!
heard about chip shortage in suica card. Thank u Suzy .your video is very informative and helpful tips on buying welcome suica card in airport.
heard that suica card is not available due to chip shortage. Thank u Suzy .your video is very informative and helpful tips to buy welcome suica card in airport . :)
Hi Suzy. Very helpful information. How can I book the bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka? I will like to book it from USA. Thank you!
You can book on line. smart-ex.jp/en/index.php If you are not big group, normally there is no problem booking just a few days before except peak season.
@@SuzysDiscoverJapan Thank you, got it.
Thank you for this beautiful video! The kimonos in the last shop looked gorgeous and they suited you perfectly! I love Japan's textiles.
Thank you!! I made another video only focused to that shop! th-cam.com/video/WsLSgvCBGF4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3l3MauZhBNvvD9zi
@@SuzysDiscoverJapan Thank you very much for the information, I look forward to watching it.
Love the explanation. Thank you!

I'm just back from my first trip to Japan and already planning another one!! Very happy to have found your channel, which is extremely useful. Please do a video on Osaka in the Autumn as well, and more, more Tokyo neighborhoods and Japan in general. You have a lovely country and customs.
Great!! Thank you for your opinion. Love that!

@@SuzysDiscoverJapan will it be hot or rainy in first week of July
very different from westerners
Thank you for your comment😊 We don’t have big family gatherings in Christmas, so new year is the time to go back to hometown.
@@SuzysDiscoverJapan yes I guess it's more of an Asian culture, thank you

Thank you for your tips. I just returned from my trip to Japan and I found an amazing Haori (kimono jacket) for myself in Asakusa region.
Oh, that’s good for you!! Happy to hear that 😁
I am taking notes for my trip to Japan next year! Omg, pelase can you give us more tips on how to see in the material if it's a very used kimono or a less used one?
Ok! Thank you for the idea. I will focus on in future video👍
Thank you for telling us ! Great information ! 🇯🇵🚅👘Very helpful !😊👍
Arigato!!
i'm surprised there's only about 600 subscribers! i found this very helpful :) I want so much to have a kimono because they're beautiful, but i don't know where to start since i've never been to japan 😅
Thank you!! Please share to your friend. I just started this channel and very slowly uploading... I recommend you to just visit some Kimono recycle shops and if you find something sparks joy to you, consider to buy. No need full set from the beginning. Just take a look and you will get the idea gradually.
love the gold knifes i will go there when i go japan
Nice!! I believe you will enjoy the shopping experience, too!!
Do you have any suggestion for shops in Chiba or Tokyo?
I have no idea in Chiba but this is my favorite shop at Tokyo. th-cam.com/video/WsLSgvCBGF4/w-d-xo.html
Which hotel will you recommend. Not too expensive and safe city. Thank you!
hotel tavinos asakusa
Thank you so much for your great information! If I arrived around 5pm at Narita airport, should I still take the bus to Tokyo consider the rush hours? Thanks.
No need to consider the rush hours!! When you come out from the airport exit, it would be after 18;00, and it would not be crazy busy hours.
Thank you 🙏
I'm planning to visit Tokyo this summer for 6 days, what must see places you would recommend to visit? Thank you.
Summer in Tokyo is tooooo hot!! Prepare for it.... I try not to go out during day time lol. Mountain area such as Karuizawa, Hakone, or Fuji is nice and cool.
Thank you for waiting, my friends!! Finally I could upload a new epitome. I hope you will enjoy and will use these tips when you come to Japan. Please share to your friends who are planning to come to Japan in this season!! Best wishes for your special travel planning, too!!
❤
Thanks!!
Im arriving narita at 8:15pm or 20:15pm. What options do I have because dont trains close like at night? Whats the fastest way to go to tokyo station or Shinjuku so I can make it to my hotel
We have trains until mid night. Don/t worry. It's better to ask to the hotel directly what is the best access from the airport. Depends on how far the hotel is from the station, your choice would be different.
