ZIPLINING in the Panama Rainforest
After having spent a week in Caison serving on mission with the Church of Eleven22 our team had to come to grips with the reality of the fact that we had to leave and return home. The work that we had done, the people we had met, the prayerfulness of the entire trip could not be compared to anything else most of us had experienced before.
That being said, it had been a lot of long days, short nights, heavy lifting, and heavy praying and testimony sharing. It seemed only appropriate that we take an afternoon before our flight back to the United States to go on a little adventure in the rainforest canopy above Boquete.
Half our team had opted to go ziplining together, while the rest of the members of our party either hiked or enjoyed fellowship at a coffee shop in the rainforest. No matter which activity you chose, it seemed like the perfect choice. Panama is a beautiful country with wonderful people in it and being able to connect with them during this trip was so rewarding.
If you know anything about me, or have watched my other videos here, you already know that I chose to go ziplining through the trees. The platforms and lines themselves were very sturdy, built atop imposing trees and nestled into the canopy almost unnoticeably. The rain and weather of the day had wrapped the trees in a shroud of cool mist, but that only added to the beauty of the country as we flew over paradise.

Who is Nick Henderson, and what is NickGoesFar?! Originally from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, I have been traveling the world since I was 3 years old, and have led a fairly uncommon life ever since. Now, I'm a commercial pilot flying in the United States, a full-time nomad and traveler. NickGoesFar was originally "The Roaming Pilot", a travel blog where I would share my adventures, tips on expat life, and photography. As I leapt headfirst into content creation, film making, and wanted to be able to share with more people - a change was needed, and after a few iterations I landed here. I am incredibly grateful that years of hard work allow me to continue doing something I love, seeing the world and immersing myself in it. 😊🎥🌎

I’ve been a certified scuba diver for a long time, and one of the first things I did when I moved to Florida was investing in my own gear. I was not happy with how very little I had been diving since getting my rating, and felt as though owning my gear would incentivize going on more dives. I couldn’t have been more wrong, although I wanted to dive more, life had other plans. Flash forward to J...

Rock City Gardens on Lookout Mountain is a great easy family hike with views! #shorts

Rock City Gardens is located on lookout mountain where the Georgia and Tennessee borders connect. Once a part of a private estate, you can now hike along the trails, through narrow crevasses, and underground passageways. It feels like a whimsical, magical place, with stone and swinging bridges, cliffside lookouts and gnomes throughout. It’s open year round.
Does the BrightLine train have real value for Florida? I think it does, here’s why. #shorts #travel

Nice video! I've been on the Wreck-Reation II many times as well as the first Wreck-Reation, which was the smaller boat that they used to run. Diver's Den is a great group of folks and I continue to dive with them over and over.
They’re a great team and from check in to getting back at the end of the trip they were top notch.
Honestly, I strongly feel that Amtrak needs to make better, new, funtional, spacious, upgraded sleeper cars!!🤔Thanks for sharing!🤗
They have been updating the interiors on their trains, more of the new interiors are “out in the wild” now, I just haven’t been on an Amtrak train since making this video
Looks like an awesome experience. 🙌
It was a great pair of dives
Love the change of scenery and creativity of recording this on a paddleboard!
Thanks! Helps that I really like being out on the water!
I got certified with DD on the hover craft and span 14!! My favorite group of people. I absolutely love them they are pretty much family at this point. Glad yall got the best dive master Niko 💗💗
It was a great trip for sure! Congrats on your certification!
My son and I are taking the Zephyr next month. Booking two roomettes was cheaper than the bedroom by over $500. And we get both sides of the train for views!
That’s awesome! What a great strategy!
Hi, can you duck dive in the water like in my videos?
I mean, I suppose you could, though I’m not sure that you would get much benefit from it. The boat rate is the same, and the wrecks were all down below 70’ so unless you’re also freediving down that far, you may feel limited on what you can see.
I also choose the upper level? Thinking it would be less busy? Any pros or cons on upper or lower
They're the same seats - but I would say that the lower level is perhaps more isolated from the rest of the train, so maybe easier to get some shut-eye in? I rode in the upper level, I liked that it was on the same level as everything else, and had better views. The upper level is the "main" level on this route, it connects to the observation car, the dining car, etc. The lower levels are mostly bathrooms and storage.
@@NickGoesFar good to know I hope I can switch I thought the top was more isolated!! Thanks safe travels👍🏻
I’m taking same trip in October 👍🏻I choose coach after watching. Several videos ? Can anyone in coach order the steak and dessert?yumm
I'll say this - you're tougher than I am. I rode coach for the short trip from Seattle to Spokane after filming this and I couldn't imagine having to spend 46 hours in those seats. As for ordering steak and dessert - it's available to passengers in coach on a space limited basis, as in - if there isn't space you will not be able to order meals. The little cafe shop in the observation car will be your only source for snacks at that point.
@@NickGoesFar ihave driven back and forth in this route and I90 5-6times in my car w dog when I lived in Vancouver Wa. I think I can make due with the recline seat🤞👌🏻I’m 5’1” I’m frugal😆❤️✌🏻
❤🙌🙏
This was such an amazing trip, God was fully at work in Panama. 🇵🇦
Thanks for the video Nick. Great to see all of the work being done in Jesus' name. Your folks share this video to me and actually I was kind of surprised I did not see a pop-up ad for "A Place for Mom" 😂
quite an adventure - you make it feel more real than most channels! new friend here. fun challenges - good job!
Thanks Mark! I had a lot of fun filming this, but had no idea how tired I would be by the end of it. Next time I do something like this, I think it will be in Europe!
@@NickGoesFar that will be great adventure just make sure u take your gopro so we can all see it!
Love this video style Nick 🫱🏼🫲🏽👏🏼
Thanks @sociallywanderful! It was fun to put something like this together, I really am excited for what’s coming next!
Where you visiting from man ? Best big city in the country 8 years in a row 👍
I’m not sure when I’ll be back in Chicago, as of now it’s not in the books.
Loved the content :-) AND the history of it all . . .
I’m glad you enjoyed it my friend!
And some of my dad’s friends and I met the king
I’ve never had a royal audience, so cool!
A lot of them and I went to that saber cat one with my dad
That’s awesome! Did you enjoy it!
Nice
It’s an awesome ride, super easy, and crazy scenic. How ya been buddy?
Looks awesome! It's going on the list!
I went to that game! I enjoyed it even though they lost.
Same! They played a good game (for all I know).
Went to one in Australia. It was a ton of fun
I’ll be going to more in the future I’m sure
I’m Peruvian but I don’t like this cause I like guinea pigs a lot
It was an interesting experience. I don’t know that I would order it again, but I’m glad I tried it once.
Orange is 25 min to the loop from midway
It's awesome that both airports are connected like this - it was super convenient.
Great video and very informative. I’ll be taking the Zephyr in July from Chicago to Davis, CA. Can’t wait for that journey to happen!
That’s going to be awesome! Enjoy!
I love this bro!
I’m glad!
Nice bridge
It’s a great trail, nicely maintained and the boardwalk at the end is amazing too.
When and how do you bid on upgrades
I received an email from Amtrak a couple of weeks prior to our travel date inviting me to bid, it took me to a website specifically for that. If sleepers are fully booked though, they don’t send the email.
Great video! Looking at doing this route soon, also in a bedroom. Question - understanding that you can go either to Seattle or Portland, which one enables you to stay on the same train that you started on? Traveling with my elderly dad, so the fewer train transitions the better. Thanks!
Technically either. If you’re going to Seattle you’ll be in one sleeper car, if you’re going to Portland you’ll be in the other. I prefer the Seattle route as the trip through the cascades is more scenic. The diner car goes to Seattle, the observation car goes to Portland.
Sick video man. We are taking Amtrak from Chicago to New Orleans this August. I can't wait!
It’s a great experience! Enjoy!
Great video! I live in Orlando and will be cruising out of Miami in two weeks. Were taking the Brightline for the first time, so this was super helpful!
Glad I could provide some insight! I hope you enjoy the train ride!
How far is the Miami port from the Miami Brightline station?
Approaching retirement I started watching Amtrak, mostly Empire Builder videos. Based on where I live I soon figured out that getting to the train, getting on & off, getting to my final destination, or back home after trip, is always going to be done in the darkest hours of the night. I wish someone would do a video about getting on & off Amtrak at 3:00 am in the middle of nowhere, with stations & entire small towns locked up tight until normal business hours. No steak, trying to sleep in the daytime, and up in the middle of my night for breakfast or lunch. Not everyone lives in Chicago, Seattle or Portland!
And I don’t either. I flew in to Chicago to meet the train. All the late night stops, for the most part I slept through, and the steak was available all dinner services
Just got off empire builder too, steak was great! I had a roomette.. how do you bid? You upgraded to a ? I’ve heard some older trains had sinks and toilets in roomettes.. I wasn’t so lucky .. was a great trip though , no linens on our tables though 😊thanks for sharing !
I currently have a roomette purchased, but the bid on the mobile app started out at $360 for the bedroom. Since I am riding by myself, I think I'll keep the roomette. I am returning to Detroit First class on United and that will cover the cost of that ticket for me. :)
THIS “fastest train” takes 3 hours and 10 minutes from Miami to Orlando in a distance of 234 miles. Meanwhile the new line Barcelona-Roma takes 2. Hours and 45 minutes-in a distance of 357 miles. The “fastest train “ is just an illusion in FLORIDA
Right, but I didn’t say it was the fastest train in the world. And last I checked neither Barcelona or Rome are in Florida…so you can’t really compare the two.
✨ *Promosm*
Not sure what that means, but thanks for commenting. 👍
Now thats an engaging travel vlog. Pretty fun!
Thanks man! I appreciate that.
Now I want to do this!
It was a lot of fun, honestly what an easy way to get around, and for such low fares!
Great Video! I have done 20 gowild flights (winter pass), once to Phoenix from Baltimore when they use to do the nonstop but the rest all From Philly to Fort Myers, One thing with the gowild pass is that it works best with over severed routes like Philly to Fort Myers (2 to 3 per day) I always wondered what it would be like to go from place to place on the pass not knowing what was next!
The pass works great, I had no issues outside of timing with the blackout dates. I’m definitely going to be using it more! Probably not every day though like in the video! 😂
That was a fun video! Well done!
Thank you so much! It was a lot of work, a lot of fun, and wooo was I tired by the end of it.
pure Stupidity!
What makes you say that?
@@NickGoesFar If you gota ask, your the problem!
@@jhaedtler you’re*
Good video, tho no challenges in Phx? My home airport when i lived in Az was Tucson. That waterwall was cool in Vegas
No, because of the blackout dates the only flight I was able to get only had me connecting through Phoenix for a handful of hours. My big challenge there was finding a place in the terminal to sleep 😴
@@NickGoesFar Gotcha!
There is an EZ way to get around from LAS to the strip and downtown. $8 A DAY PASS (For next time)
Is that for a bus? Or what? I wish they’d connected the monorail there and run it out as far as Fremont Street. That would have made for the ultimately connected Vegas!
Nice job Nick. Taking this same trip in August from Ann Arbor, Michigan thru Chicago to Seattle. Will be our 2nd trip on Amtrak. Took a western trip on Amtrak in January out of LA. The trip didn't go as planned due to the Armageddon Snow Storm in Chicago and the Midwest which shut down everything that day, but it was still a great adventure, even though the Amtrak segment ended for us in Denver. Long story. Was a great adventure, and Amtrak personnel and Mgmt could not have been more wonderful. Can't control the weather, but the adventure was a great introduction into Amtrak and life traveling the rails. Loved it!!! Looking forward to August. And the Bedroom IS the car to book for sure over the Roomette, if you can swing the extra $$. 👍
Absolutely! The extra space made for a very comfortable trip! I still want to do a roomette trip one of these days for comparison!
The added restroom in the Bedroom is a great feature. The Roomette is great for 1, but a little cramped for 2, and no restroom. But the added privacy is great either way, and the food is pretty solid. We are actually going in August because I always wanted to visit Seattle, AND the Tigers are playing in Seattle, so I'm looking forward to seeing a night game. Then we'll fly back after 2 nights in Seattle. Just a weekend gig!!!!
Greetings from another Henderson :) just stumbled upon your channel..love train videos
Woo woo Henderson’s for the win! Thanks for checking out my channel, there will be more train videos in the future!
I tried the lowest bid for Starlight not lucky though....
Yeah the agent at the lounge said we were really lucky that we got it at that level.
I loved the underwater footage! Wow!
It’s such a cool and special experience. I actually got to take my mom there earlier this year and she loved it too.
This is currently the second fastest train the the US. The Amtrak Acela, on the NYC to Boston leg, achieves speeds of 150mph.
I’m pretty sure I mentioned the Acela a couple times in the video
Actually, the only portion of the route that is originally the great northern railroad is from Fargo to Seattle From Saint Paul to Fargo, that trackage was originally built by the northern Pacific railroad From Chicago to Glenview, that is Metra tracks Then from Glenview to Saint Paul, that was originally built by the Milwaukee Road railroad, which today is a part of the CPKC, Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railroad
That’s awesome, love the extra information. Thank you. 👏
the trains and stations seem very disneyesque. then again, they are appropriate as a novelty train experience for tourists visiting the state. no doubt, children will appreciate the color scheme. never having traveled to or in Asia or taking the train when in Europe, i actually expect as well as enjoy just settling in when i take the train here in the U.S. i don't really expect high speed train travel especially when taking long distance trains as opposed to short jaunts. i admit that having internet service on Amtrak long distance trains traveling along the distance of the east coast of the U.S. would be a welcome amenity.
Yeah the internet option would be great, and with services like Starlink making its way onto cruise ships, trains like the BrightLine, and other modes of travel it would seem easy enough to integrate it into the existing Amtrak fleet
How do you “bid up” a room?
Amtrak sent me an email shortly before our scheduled travel date with a link to the site for bidding on an upgrade. There’s no place to get there without them sending you the offer, which may mean all the rooms are booked full.
I wish I loved my job as much as those dogs do!
Right?!? They were so eager to run! One of them (in Willow, at the end of the video) actually got off the lead and took off before the start whistle! 😂
