Das Archipel Les Etocs liegt 2,5 km vor dem Küstenort Kérity in der bretonischen Biskaya. Bei stabiler Wetterlage mit Wind von maximal 10 km/h ließen wir am Strand von Kérity unsere Kajaks zu Wasser und begannen mit dem letzten Ebbstrom unseren Tripp nach Les Etocs.Das Archipel besteht aus einer Menge bizzar geformter Felsinseln. Zusammen mit den vorgelagerten Riffs bieten sie Schutz vor der Wucht der Atlantikwellen. Viele Vögel und eine kleine Kolonie von Kegelrobben haben hier ihr Revier gefunden.Unsere Hoffnung war, ein paar Kegelrobben beobachten zu können. Und tatsächlich dauerte es nicht lange, bis wir die ersten entdeckten. Nachdem sie uns zuerst kritisch betrachtet hatten, stuften sie die menschlichen Eindringlinge schnell als ungefährlich und eher langweilig ein, schlossen die Augen und dösten weiter in der Sonne.

The Les Etocs archipelago is located 2.5 km off the coastal town of Kérity in the Bay of Biscay. In stable weather conditions with a maximum wind speed of 10 km/h, we launched our kayaks on Kérity beach and started our trip to Les Etocs with the last ebb tide.The archipelago consists of a number of bizarrely shaped rocky islands. Together with the offshore reefs, they offer protection from the force of the Atlantic waves. Many birds and a small colony of grey seals have found their territory here. Our hope was to be able to observe a few grey seals. And indeed, it wasn't long before we spotted the first ones. After looking at us critically at first, they quickly classified the human intruders as harmless and rather boring, closed their eyes and continued to doze in the sun.
