How did you guys chose a small town like Balestrate to be the place to retire in?
@@JoeElitetile we looked for somewhere close to the airport and nice beach. We came to Balestrate to check it out and felt right at home.
@JoeElitetile we had a wish list and Balestate fit most. We would have liked to move to his ancestral town of Caccamo, but no sea view or passagiate.
Wow ~ it's a busy town. The area by that momument was nice for people to sit and chat. Very nice town. Thanks for sharing. 😊

@salvoreemma im not sure they ever get ash over on this side of the island. I know very rarely the Palermo airport might shut down. We are safe over here!

@@diannelake580 we are renting monthly and it's around 1000 euro. I'm sure nightly or weekly will be different.

I plan on bringing alot. Our vehicles.
@@ellmiller2013 shipping may be expensive. I think you will have to pay tax on stuff you bring. We thought it would be easier to sell and just buy here. You will have to check prices to see if it's worth it to you.

I’m planning on purchasing a home in Sicily. I’m currently looking for a home in Mussomeli. Where is your home located? How much was your home? What is the cost of your remodel? Was the buying process difficult?
@@christopherdavis575 we are in Balestrate. On the northwest coast. Ours was around 50k. It's a small one bed. Remodel will be around 40k. But it's a major remodel. Removing walls adding walls. New elec, plumbing etc. I don't think that's to bad for a beach town.

A nice and spacious place to live while you renovate! Were going to check out the town when we come in September. Got my dual last year and are considering Sicily as our option! Thanks for the toilet tip 😂

@@godscountryhomestead1177 we rented for a month. So price may be different. On vrbo in November it's 56 a night. July , August I'm guessing may be around 100 a night.
I just checked prices in Gulfport and Destin Fl… similar condo $300+ a night. Food is fresher and cheaper here. You can buy a beer at the beach for 2-3 euro. They don’t rip you off.

Hi I wish you all the best. One word of advice when you go for your kitchen, make sure you barter. Tell them everything included right. Installing,delivery don't show them you'll pay for extra. From one Sicilian to another.😂

@@surpriseme4275 my family came from Sicily. So it has a place in my heart. Other than that, the weather, sea and price is some of the main reasons.

Hi, …not bad at all. No doubt your renovations are underway. Hope your completion is just the way you expected. We’re sure it will be very nice. Will you use some of the renovation time to travel Italy (Greece?). Will you expect to take lessons in Italian at some point? Need good Italian to pass the drivers license tests. Right 🤔 😂sorry for so many questions. We’re working on things to eventually get to Italy too, though still at the incipient stage of the journey 😔. But remain determined. Happy 4th🧨

We have a dryer but rarely use it and hang clothes as is tradition. The dryer does come in handy in winter.

The tourists are coming. Our beaches are already getting packed and traffic is becoming more challenging than usual. September is one of my favorite months in Sicily with many festivals to attend.
@@LinkDreams2Vision yes. The beach was packed yesterday. It is definitely getting busier.
Did you check the local courts. My grandparents naturalized in the county where they lived. It took me almost a year to locate these documents through a genealogist.

@@darrenmccarthy3346 yes we have 4 children and 10 grandchildren. It is not easy but with facetime it makes it easier. We hope to expand their view of the world. And give them more opportunities.
