She's still a bit cold normally idle's at 1000 rpm when warm click to 1.05 for more rpm .

This is a 1949 Matchless G80 500 rigid , iron head , i have since made a muffler and a side stand , still have to do the crank pin , an engine had been fitted with the wrong piston 1/2 down at TDC and 3mm ring gaps ! , I am amazed that it ran, i calculated the compression ratio at 4.1:1 , the pushrod tube was split , there was so much oil pouring from it it was hard to tell , but after cleaning...

Hi Cobra427 , I had to convert from mechanical linkage to cable , i also wanted a slightly slower tip in rate , it looks more complicated than it is especially with the bell crank and the link that keeps the cable inline with the the hole , looks like the cable needs a little adjustment needs to be tightened to show the slower tip in rate :-) . My pedal assembly underneath foot box is fabricate...

Hi , Cobra 427 V8 here , this is my 408 Windsor TFS 206 Heads, Morrison crossram 52mm , all forged , previous intake 1000 cfm 4 hole ran a 10.91 @ 126.56 , Dyno re-Mapping of Motec ECU , Manifold has improved midrange, and top end is still awesome , 578 Hp . The dyno greatly slows down how quickly this engine revs , alloy flywheel and center force clutch . TKO 600

      @Robert-mn8gc Hi Robert, This is a Steve Morrison intake 52mm , my car got crashed due to a custom rear arm that was made too weak and incorrectly (not made by me) but I have made some new ones that have double bracing and gussets and heavier seamless tube , it's going back together soon , after I do battle with the insurance company , great full cover .

      robertphillips3078 yep, I had to . The air flow on ITBs goes up a series of peaks, as the rpm goes up so the fueling has to follow that , it's only a 408 and it made 575 on a dynapac hub dyno , it had previously run 10.91 at 126.56 just took it once to see how it would go , thats with the Force 1000cfm TB , jthanks for you

    Why even use a traditional distributor? Use a crank trigger. Use individual coils for each cylinder as well.

    Nice Commando . Found your site through the 'Old-Mad' German on the 500 Dominator (Cafe) . Thought some of his 'Lines' were a bit-off , given that he couldn't see what was on-coming ! Damn-good roads-though, as you said . Guess they don't have 'Higgins' over there . I see a tidy 53 500 Norton on TM at the moment for 10K buy-now .       Thanks Dave , I've been doing maintenance jobs to keep it good , it's not a show piece , next job is to replace the stanchions and rebuild the dampers inside . The roads just get worse , the weather hasn't helped. Cheers

    That offset distributor drive is "GAS" man! I skipped over that idea and went DIS with a coil near plug setup. Eventually I tossed that though.... How would you rate your experience?

      Hi bob , you can use any common pulley I use 3M same tooth count 😁, an old distributor shaft , and just copied the Mallory body for the same cap, the belt centres can be found from charts on the net , mine is 3" centres , but 3 1/2 might have been better , also used a MSD pick up . the V band makes it all extra adjustable .     Interesting concept, could you have not used a cam sync and then used individual coil packs rather than try and offset the dizzy like that. looks like you would have had enough room for a cam synchronizer. I am right in the middle of putting a set of ITB's on a 302 and going Coil packs and cam sync instead of the dizzy

      Yep sure could have Paul , but i like the old school look ,it was interesting to make , it may evolve to 8 coil packs one day , but I would like a better computer ,i do have a ignition expander to make it possible with my old Motec . No E-throttle either ! . see other videos . Cheers .

      @@Cobra427Veight to be honest the cobra's do deserve the old school look so the dizzy fits the bill. I am using a Haltech ECU in my car, has been pretty easy to setup so far but have not installed the ITB's yet so will see how it goes, cant be any worse that what the factory ford ECU was that's for sure :)

    I love the way the cross ram looks, but I'm worried on idle, low end. Can you maintain 700-800 rpms smoothly?

      They idle ok and have good torque mid range compared to my Victor but it depends on your runner length , have to be synced at idle and also make sure just as the linkage takes up each side is the same , I think you could benefit by having a speed density say 15-20% and the remaining on alpha-n blend .     Did you get your throttle body induction system adjusted? Is that efi or old school mechanical cross ram? Currently gathering parts for a 408w sbf going into a 70 Ford Torino.

      Hi Jason , its EFI with 60 or 65lb deatworks EV14 and MoTec ecu , haven't had much of a chance to get on to the manifold , weather too wet and a lot of other projects , got a stroker SBF 385ci for my Bullnose F150 , making log lift for my wood splitter , need to make some more videos , are you going to run efi 1000 throttle body or Hi ram etc . You will like the 408 great torque to help move the Torino . Cheers .

      The cam doesn't seem that big with the ITB , it made 578 hp but good midrange torque , it was very loud , didn't get to try my shorty mufflers (louder) , or cool the intake with CO2 , lots of difficult tuning , and have been sorting the accell , decell and sensitivity , tricky . Thanks .

      Hi , its a bit rowdy alright , Great to hear a howling small block though , need to do a new video from the dyno , not that skilled with video editing ! will add one soon , I have been busy with my 86 bullnose truck building a really nice 385 ci , only original part will be the same as cobra , the ford block , not a drag truck though I don't think it will sound as good as yours , great 60ft by the way , i did a test and tune and managed a 10.91@126.56 , not been back with new intake yet , not a serious drag car just general purpose sports car , custom 9" IRS and TKO 600 makes you work a bit at the drags , great fun though.       @@UnityMotorSportsGarage Glad you like it , a bit of a hassle to make , I think one was enough ! you could copy it , probably better off running 8 coils ,hidden , (better) you will make more power with ecu controlled ignition , power is in the advance curve . I'll go back to Masterton Motoplex dragstrip one day ,but Im working on my 86 F150 385 all forged stroker it has some good gear , crower billet rods , milodon gear drive , small comp retro roller ,world Snr heads ,75 TB , thin ring auto tech pistons , should be nice , Cheers.

    Excellent, exactly the information I needed. The engine I'm working on is a Ford 4.9 six-cylinder with a Chevy LS3 head (cut and welded) that puts the intake on the same side as the dizzy and compromised the intake design. Now, I can move it out or even flip it 90 degrees to get it completely out of the way. Thank You

      @@johnparrish9215 Hi John , I need to get a couple more pictures for you , But basically get an old dissy with a good shaft , buy some 6061-T6 or some free machining , you have to decide how low to make it and what diameter to clear your manifold , copy the lower part of the dissy , most shafts might be around 1/2 inch , depending on the diameter of the top bit decide on some bearings, I stacked two thin series together , get some pulleys that are common probably iron I have 3m but are now so hard to get in iron , maybe 5m or similar , mine are 10 wide , you can get on the net , belt and pulley calculators ,look up same tooth pulleys and use a common belt mine is 75 centers , make two plates, bolt together , scribe one end as a datum , drill pilot, then i used the mill to drill my other hole at the 75 center , which i clocked for more machining , my lower plate is spigoted to sit over my top bearing in the lower alloy block boss which i left half way out , and used a dividing head for 6 countersunk screws . You then need to decide on a dissy type , you could use a mallory side valve ford type ? , or machine something from scratch like i did , I used the same measurements as a large cap mallory or bore the bottom of an old billet dissy and add the type of clamp you like , you just need two bearings to keep shaft straight , I put an oil lite bush in the lower part of the block boss , sort of the same as ford , hope this is some help , The first alloy block boss i made was for bigger bearings and too high ! its under the bench , it was Mk1 :-) .
