The ultrasonic scaler is brutal to the gums especially in the hands of most techs.

Also, leg ties (gauze, tape, or rope) to be even saver and to keep the hands away (gloved or not, again lead-gloved is advised to protect one from skin cancer over time and repetitive exposure) out of primary or shattered radiation exposure.

Fun fact: A great way to know if the pack is tight enough is to throw it against a wall! Looked a little gentle wrapping the pack but hard to tell on video! I got to admit that is genius to secure most of the instruments by sliding the spay hook through them

So awesome that you did this without sedating the dog! I think the risk of sedation to the dog is greater than the risk of x-ray exposure to the technicians.

  • @GeminiGemini-tr9wf

This was a wonderful video! I’m a vet tech student in my 1st year and also work at a vet clinic as an assistant. I’ve had zero experience in this field and they have me doing urinalysis tests, however I have a really hard time being able to pick out what I’m looking for on unstained slides. Most of the techs there don’t stain their slides but I feel I can see better with stains. Your explanation of what to look for and how to do all of this makes more sense to me watching this than doing it on my own. But now I feel more confident in being able to do this!

I was always looking for answers to my question and i really hope youll find some time for that to give as vets some help. much love and respect.

Hi! I'm studying a level 2 vet course at the moment, and I'm struggling to find any evidence to how reusable veterinary drapes are cleaned after usage. I'm aware of sterilisation through the autoclave once dry but is the cleaning process just machine wash and tumble dry before folding and sterilisation? and if it is, what about heavily soiled drapes? Thank you in advance if you can answer!

I have those same exact test strips I've used at home. I get concerned when I start reading all the info in the instructions etc it comes with where it talks about all these potential false positives. Or if ascorbic acid is high then it could make other results not accurate and so on. So how would you know what's showing is correct then

Can anyone purchase that surgical bundle complete? I’m a prepper and I think having quality surgical tools on hand for extreme cases only, might prove helpful for our animals….again, only when access to a vet clinic is not possible! (I collect as many vet school instructional videos and printed literature as I can….but I am certainly NOT going to start “experimenting on my live animals now!)
