Backyard is a Disaster After DERECHO Storm - Using WORX Pole Saw and Sun Joe Wood Chipper/Shredder
A terrible storm (a derecho) went through our area in June. We have spent quite a bit of time cleaning up, and unfortunately, we aren't done yet. It gave us a chance to test out some new equipment we bought, though! We plan to talk more about these products in future videos.

2021 Toro 60V Flex-Force Super Recycler Mower - Unboxing and First Impressions Review
I clean my windshield in the garage. My static tennis ball is in the way when I do this. Closing the garage door and raising the tennis ball solves that problem. Cool.
Elegant solution
Is that the metal auger or rubber auger version?
can't see the point when car is already parked,it's not as though it's in the way , needs to retract when leaving garage and lowering when entering.
Hmmm....
Thanks for this. With the cheap spool string that comes with it, the string would break literally every 30 seconds.. I respooled with the ugly line and WOW.. I did the whole front yard, back yard and along the fence with knee high thick grass without it even breaking once. It's like it's a brand new edger
Thanks, I tried eReplacement instructions, Google, and finally your TH-cam before it became clear that simple brute force was the answer. Thanks!
Interestingly I just got off the phone with Toro a little while ago and they said the only blade approved for use with the current 60V 22” Recycler Max, my machine not yours, is the atomic blade it ships with. With these potentially deadly blades spinning around at ankle level I wouldn’t be comfortable introducing any potential metal fatigue by being a “1 percenter” using a blade not specifically approved by Toro for a particular machine. There have been accounts of blade loss or failure, in particular one account I heard of many years ago of a thrown blade hitting a chain link fence with such force that it partially wrapped the fence around it!
I feel like a lot of this is Toro trying to justify the higher price tag of the Super Recycler. The two mowers have the exact same motor, so what works for one should work for the other.
Thanks for the Hacks but you also need to wear long trousers when strimming the border because it flicks soil towards you and it stings
Good point! For me personally, after welding for almost 20 years, I'm desensitized!
HAH! You're just like me...when the mower blows a few leaves out from under the deck you feel compelled to go back over them to pick them up...even if it messes up your stripes... AND even though there will be more leaves all over the lawn an hour after you're done mowing!!!
Can you compare these to the Oregon Gator Mulcher 3-N-1 Lawn Mower Blade For Toro 21-Inch 94-906 96-606? This would be an interesting test to see if the Gator's mulching "teeth" improve the mulching into finer particles & provide any better lift. This blade is made specifically for that mower. The blades bend down lower to allow clearance for the gator teeth to avoid the deflectors under the deck.
I will definitely keep this in mind! Thanks!
plastic putty knife won't wear out the deck.
A way to avoid using the rubber bands would be to pull the car in and close the garage door first, attach the string directly to the carabiner and garage door hinge first, run the string through a loose eyelet, lean over your car, let the string hang with a small weight on it until it touches your windshield, have someone activate the garage to find that sweet spot where it touches your windshield and also doesn’t go through the eyelet when closing, and then just run the eyelet into the roof in that spot. Excellent idea though. I was just looking for a simple video with some tips on hanging the normal tennis balls but randomly found your video. I will definitely be going over and above and doing this now! 👍
THANKS. EASY-PEASY
What is the size of that string (wire)
Sorry for the delay, it's.065" string.
Thank you for the video
Why use rubber bands? Leave a little slak, you know the rubber bands will dry out and break.
I just replace them once in awhile.
Thank You! Very detailed. You’re the first video I’ve seen that actually shows where the broken end goes back in.
Excellent. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful grass. I wish I could grow that type in FL
I have been looking for a video, showing how to use the mini mower part. Yours is the first I have found. Thank you. My new Worx arrived today. Your video is the only one I needed! Again, Thank you.
Why take out the old mulch? It decomposes. And if it doesn’t decompose, just put a thin layer of new mulch over it just sprinkle it over the top.
Eventually mulch is broken down into basically mud/dirt. When it gets broken down like this, weeds can thrive. Every now and then, I believe it's a good idea to have a whole, new, fresh batch of mulch. Mulch dye works great to make things look nice again, though.
@@jkprojectsnstuff697 interesting because I didn’t see one weed in that bed. Also to build up garden beds I will rake back the mulch, place chopped up yard waste and cover it back up with mulch and put a thing layer of broken bag mulch for $1 a bag. Zero weeds.
I just bought 10 bags of mulch at Lowe’s for one dollar each because they were broken bags 90 and 100% full.. And I do that three or four times in the early spring when people are getting it in high demand.
How do you rotate the head from edger to trimmer?
Sorry for the late response. To rotate the head, pull the trimmer head down and twist.
Is it reasonably quiet or loud?
The fan is a little on the louder side. It does move quite a bit of air, though.. I've had mine for around 2 years and it's handy. I use it often and I'm glad I bought it.
@@jkprojectsnstuff697 awesome thank you. I think I’ll try it
Very creative idea but unfortunately, when I work in the garage, I have the doors open.
More please
It's only bouncy because of the grade. Rake some topsoil in and it'll work a lot better for you.
Excellent presentation.
I just wish it through the snow further because I have to get my snow over an embankment
Do you know if the spool assembly can be removed so only the bolt is showing?
Sorry, I've never tried this on the Worx. I know my old Ryobi trimmer did because I had different attachments for it.
Great comparison video! Do you get any stragglers with the performance blade?
A few here and there. I've wondered if any mower can mow without stragglers.
Hey there. Do you still have this mower? How is it holding up? I've been reading about a lot of quality issues with this mower.
I haven't had a single quality issue with this mower except for the torsion spring on the personal pace handle. That was an easy fix.
We are just getting ready to do this! I kept thinking, “There has to be a way to make the balls retract.” And, . . . lo and behold . . . you did the thinking AND dynamic testing for me! God love ya man! Thank you soooo much! ❤🎉😊
Hopefully it is working out for you! Thanks for the comment.
During set up, leave a little extra string at the ball. After a couple of trial runs, you could move the above eyelet a little if needed, and find where the ball touches the glass, and no rubber bands are needed at all. Another nice touch would be if, with the garage door open and the vehicle outside, you could reach up and lay the tennis ball on top of the opener in an upside down bottle cap stuck there for this purpose. Next activation, the ball will roll out back in service again, nothing to remember!
how much battery life is between the performance blade and the high-life blade
I couldn't tell you exactly, but I do know that there is at least a 5-10 minute loss in battery life.
Thank you so much. Just finished doing this in my garage. The carabiner, rubber band and the ball retracting back up out of the way when the door is closed is absolutely brilliant!!! Thanks for that little twist. So glad I did it the J&K Projects way.
Thanks for the comment! Much appreciated!
Which direction do you wind the string after you start it in the spool?
Take a look at the 50 second mark of the video.
I have this trimmer with the 32v batteries. Is there an attachment that can be added to cut down small sapling trees up to about 1/4" in diameter? Thank you.
Sorry, I'm not sure if Worx makes this attachment.
Can use a gator blade
I would like to know if you can. I'd try it.
@J&K Projects N' Stuff i read somewhere the heavier the blade the more the battery works that girl on TH-cam has it on the super recycler and it works same with the high lift
How about the blade with those notches in them? Supposed to be a great mulching blade?
I'm not familiar with this. I'd love to try it though.
@@jkprojectsnstuff697The Toro Atomic blade (OEM for the 60v Recycler Max) is what he’s referencing. Would be interesting to see how that would work on the Super.
So exactly how is the performance blade the best? I always mulch my lawn. Never bag. The best for mulching? I usually keep grass high in the summer but I do bring the height down in late fall. Thanks
To me, it is the best balance. It's a great mulching blade and has enough lift to bag. I only use the high lift blade in the fall or after a storm to pick up debris.
Is the chain a standard size that can be purchased locally or do you have to order a replacement from Toro?
Oregon makes a replacement chain for it. I don't have the model number, though.
Is this on 1 charge if so how many sq ft i have small property under 3000 sq ftim getting the 21566 next week thick fescue grass looks like your grass i keep it between 3- 4 in cut twice a week
Yep, it was one charge on ECO. I do run on on MAX most days. I use 2 batteries on MAX. I have a little over 1/3 of an acre.
@J&K Projects N' Stuff i have small N.Jersey yard about 2500 total front and back cut yesterday max with performance blade used 2 bars but the cut was better next I'll try auto and performance when you charge battery do you have to be there to take it off or can you leave it on charger
Stupid
I use .080 line and shave the end with a utility knife to fit it in the notch at the bottom of the spool. The line lasts much longer. Been doing this for years reliably. Im doing this on St Augustine grass. It cuts much better with the thicker line although its still weak for this grass type. It will maintain it okay but every month or two it needs a real edger to reshape the edge otherwise the thicker strands grow over and it will take a long time to cut with just string.
I like you have the 69v power clear 21” single stage snowblower with charger and 7.5 ah battery. I noticed that Toro has some tool only 60v mowers without the charger and battery. My toro 21” recycler personal pace mower I bought in 2001. The past 10 years it has been used as a edging mower where my Toro 32” timecutter zero turn mower can’t get. I could get a cheap gas power mower but don’t want to mess with gas mowers if I don’t need to. I can’t decide between the ouch mower or another personal pace one. About a $200 difference. I do have heart problems and a Ochoa mower might be too hard to punch. Good video thought.
...just bought the Toro 60v super recycler. Haven't used it yet, but your videos are a great primer as I unpack and set up. Question: I have steep slopes and it's not practical to keep the yard cleaned up of small branches. Would using the economy blade allow me to mow over them easier without sucking them up into the blade?
Yes, the economy blade would be the best blade to avoid sucking anything up into the deck. Its suction power is very poor, so this will help in your case. Thanks for watching and congrats on the new 60V SR!
@@jkprojectsnstuff697 many thanks for your videos and for taking the time to reply to questions!
the eco blade is garbage, many people on reddit have reported returning the mower, then reality they should have used a different blade
I just got one! Totally love it!! 👊
That sprayer is hindering the process. Need a backpack sprayer with fan tip for accuracy a dependable saturation.
Maybe if I did this for a living. This one was very cheap!
When are you going to be able to unveil the stripe? You’re one of the testers right?
I'm not a tester, I just made some Toro 60V Super Recycler videos. I don't have the Toro striper kit, but I made my own.
