Air Purification Tests - This is Who I Trust!
Hello and Welcome To Tier #1 on my Air Purifier Industry SOURCE RANKINGS list - which contains the most trustworthy source for air filtration testing. OK, in the last video I explained why TH-cam Channels and Blogs with at least some dedication to testing and analyzing air purification equipment, are at Tier #2 in our listing of sources. And below them would be the Peer Reviewed Studies in Tier #3 - and they are above the hit or miss General Influencers in Tier #4… And the The General Influencers - even with all their flaws - are still, more trustworthy, in general, than the NOT TO BE TRUSTED Business Owners in Tier #5… Now, we are at the highest Tier… and in Tier #1 we have ….
Tier 1:
Professional, Expert 3rd Party Testing Labs. All the other sources from Tier 2 to Tier 5, I would consider to be Amateur testers.. But Tier 1 companies are Professional testers…
Here are some of the characteristics of the Professional Expert 3rd Party Testing Labs:
They use more expensive, more precise, testing equipment and specialized software…
They have years and even decades of air filtration testing experience.
They get paid thousands of dollars by companies - even Fortune 500 companies to do testing on their products and sometimes they even test solutions that will be used by the department of defense and/or even NASA.
They can accurately test filtration concentrations for UFP. And UFP are smaller particles that are .1 to .003 microns in size and they comprise 90% of all the particles in the air we breathe and they are also the most dangerous to us, as well. So, that’s obviously a very important variable to consider.
And some Professional 3rd party testing labs can also accurately test for VOCs and Chemicals, as well, which is very difficult and expensive.
And these Professional 3rd party testing labs are conducting air filtration tests on equipment on a daily basis, week in and week out for years on end as this is exclusively what they do in their profession… And therefore, they would be considered experts in the air filtration testing industry.”
Air Purification Tests - This is Who I Trust
OK… So, those are some of the characteristics of Professional testers in the air filtration industry… That said, there ARE 2 different categories within this Tier.
Category #1 consists of Honest, Trustworthy, 3rd Party Testing Labs who cannot be bribed into providing undeserved testing results. In Short, they are honest, and they have integrity. Their mothers raised them well.
And then, we have Category #2:
Which consists of LESS Reputable 3rd party testing labs who CAN be bribed to create undeserved testing results to make an air purifier or filter appear to perform better than it actually does. JPEG - make them an offer they can’t resist
Now, we won’t go into this too much but just so you know - not ALL filters or air purifiers that are EN1822 certified deserve their certifications, or the test results that they attribute to their solutions… some don’t deserve the certification or test results because the filter company basically paid for superior testing results that they didn’t earn. So, if you see a specific certification on a filter or air purifier - it may, or may NOT, actually be legit.
Unfortunately, This is the world we live in. And there is a reason why the Bible says, “For the love of money is the root of all evil”. Some labs will give air filter manufacturers the testing results they want for the right amount of money. I mean, just think about it, when Millions of dollars are on the line - some companies will come up with creative ways to try to gain an edge, for sure…and let’s be real - that’s true in many different industries - not just the air filtration industry.
And, I could tell, over the past few years that some air purifier companies had some Amazing official performance test results, from 3rd party labs, but by analyzing the units and their seals - I was sometimes thinking to myself - Yeah, I don’t think this unit is going to filter at the levels the 3rd party testing lab claims… so, I’ve actually kinda known this for a while, now… but, eventually, I had a 3rd party testing lab confirm my suspicions - and they said that they KNEW, some other 3rd party labs were rigging tests for some customers…. So, unfortunately, it IS a thing in the industry and I don’t like it any more than you do, but I’m just letting you know what’s going on.

    @airpurificationeducation Hi, I have found a clearance sale for the Aeris 3 in 1 Purifier. I can’t find any replacement filters being sold. The units are being sold CHEAPER than cost of filters alone. I was gonna buy 5 years worth just for the filters. How long do these filters keep for if unopened?

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 7 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your question. 1) iRobot was going to replace the Aeris units with the newer Klaara P7 air purifiers that connect with their robotic vacuums... and also, use a different filter (I think an H14 and I also think it would still fit in the original Aeris product line, as well). Amazon was in the process of purchasing iRobot but the deal eventually fell through and the CEO had to step down around Jan. of 2024. So, the new iRobot CEO started around 7 months ago and he is trying to revive the company... as they lost money the past 2 years. Robotic vacuums account for 99% of their sales so the Aeris Air purifier product line is a serious "afterthought" for these guys... they are currently not manufacturing any new air purifiers - or filters - from what I gather... so, no one knows what the future will hold for this product line. I kinda wish they would just sell it to another company so it can get the attention it deserves but we'll just have to see what happens... Yeah, they have kinda hijacked the entire brand... which is sad as Aeris was a great company to deal with prior to being purchased by iRobot... and they were really growing and moving in the right direction... but $72 million dollars IS $72 million, I get that... LOL! ***I think iRobot possibly does not provide great support on this product line, currently... 2) Some folks - especially in Europe have told me they see the Aeris units for a very low price and they'll buy it and get multiple filters, as well. The HEPA component of the filters should last a good while as I don't know if HEPA actually has a "lifespan".... but the carbon (for odors) can break down over time - even if not being used. So, if the filters are well packaged - then the carbon will retain it's lifespan for longer. Good Luck!👍

    What would you recommended around $200 price range for a small 130 square foot bedroom? would get the winix 5300 but the bright light seems to be an annoyance with no way to dim or turn it off, rather not have to use electrical tape on a brand new unit.

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your question. For dust/particles/asthma type filtration in that price range - I'd currently say: 1) TruSens Z-3000: It has a HEPA filter that is actually EN1822 certified which is CRAZY at this price point and I've never seen this certification in lower priced units (unit is about $229). Plus, it seems to have a very good seal between the HEPA filter and the inside of the unit, as well - which is super important (better seal than the Winix or the Coway). I got it a week ago to run and eventually make a video on - but I haven't opened the box yet. I had already done some homework on it, though, and I do like what I've seen. 2) Coway Mighty - I think will filter a little bit better for particles than the Winix 5500/5300 especially after some use as the filters get some dust/debris accumulation as the Mighty has a better HEPA filter seal inside the unit. 3) Winix 5500/5300 - Still good units for the money for particle filtration at sub $200... *** None of them are really that good/great for filtering a considerable amount of odors - at least, not for a long period of time. So.. that's what I currently think... Good Luck!👍

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the question! And it is a pretty timely one, as well - as I just checked on their filters about 2 weeks ago - after running them for about 6 months without cleaning the prefilters... I think the Coway Mighty has a better seal between the HEPA filter and the inside of the unit so even though the 5500 filtered better for .3 microns in the RTINGS.com test (with new filters) - over time, the Mighty will filter better when the filters get debris on them. And on the consulting side, I always felt that the Coway customers I dealt with were getting a little better filtration based on the feedback they provided me... which is consistent with the better seal inside the unit. That is what I currently think. What did you say? You want affiliate links for both? OK... here ya go - but ONLY because you asked nicely, LOL! 😆 Coway Mighty: Coway Airmega AP-1512HH: amzn.to/4cLrqmU Winix 5500: amzn.to/3U59tII Feel Free to do ALL your Christmas shopping after ya hit that link... big screen TVs - expensive jewelry, etc.... The cheapest air purifier is 3, dyson is 30 times more expensive than my DIY air purifier. So I easily accept %50 less performance

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the Dyson - especially, due to the fact, it does not possess a real prefilter. So, I expect it's performance to decrease substantially the more it is used - and the more the HEPA filter gets clogged with debris. That is somewhat inexcusable for me - in my current opinion. Maybe it is great for formaldehyde filtration and one could make a case for it then... but, I wouldn't get one for particle filtration. I think the Winix 5500 can be purchased for about $150 and it has some additional "user experience advantages" Ie. size, noise levels, prefilter, + filters better at .3 and .5 microns after 35 minutes than the CR Box (according to the RTINGS.com test)... and it probably filters UFPs better, as well. So, I could see a lot of folks choosing that over a CR Box option. That said, if you are paying $3? or $30 - IDK, what DIY arrangement you have set up - but at least, it IS inexpensive in comparison to most all manufactured air purifiers on the market - thanks! 👍

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment. The dust on the heater was from a while ago before I owned any of the higher end units - and it was in the bathroom by itself... so it WAS the air filtration solution for the bathroom, lol! That said, dust will typically accumulate in a space even if folks supersize their solution(s) for the cubic space. Some people think they won't have to dust after they get an air purifier but that is not the case... dust will most often always accumulate on desks, counter tops, etc. Hope that makes sense. Thank you! 👍

    Don't put too much trust into anyone that calls themselves an "Air Quality Expert" on TH-cam. They are just people hoping to grow their TH-cam channel by providing entertaining or controversial content. Actual Experts are not on TH-cam.

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment. I would agree with some of your statements - but not all of them. 1) Yes, I currently believe that there is no such thing as a generic/broad "Air Quality Expert", on or off of TH-cam, period. As there are too many niches/topics under the "Air Quality" umbrella for anyone to be an "expert" in all of them. 2) There is no such thing as an "Air Purifier Expert" (for residential stand alone solutions), either, IMO. As there are simply too many stand alone air purification solutions on the market for anyone to have extensive experience with all of them. Plus, there are new solutions hitting the market every month. Therefore, I position myself as an "Air Purification Consultant with 17 years of Experience" and a "Student" of the industry and I am comfortable with both of these labels. I don't know everything about all the solutions on the market. But, I definitely know more than most and I've got a very high success rate with my consultation suggestions. So, I decided to get on YT/social media. And I have helped many people around the world select the best filtration solutions their budgets will allow - depending on what equipment is available at their location(s). 3) There are "Air Quality Experts" in certain niches on TH-cam like “Mold Experts”. So, yes, there are Mold Experts on TH-cam who talk about how to best test for it. Plus, there are "Mold Remediation Experts" on TH-cam, as well. There are also other “Air Quality Testing Experts” and “HVAC Experts” who I would consider to be experts in their respective niches, on TH-cam/Social Media, etc. And there are also some filtration manufacturers on TH-cam like Camfil and some European Filter manufacturers, as well, who have TH-cam channels and I would consider them to be experts at making industrial air filtration solutions (as they are also experts at testing, as well, so they are high level). So again, yeah, there currently ARE some “Air Quality Experts” on TH-cam/Social Media - but, they are in certain niches. 4) I am actually going to make a video on this very subject as I have seen people on social media with master’s degrees and even PhD’s in engineering…. and even “scientists” - who say they are “Air Quality Experts” and “experts” at recommending air purification solutions. Yet, I see them oftentimes provide very poor recommendations. Unfortunately, many people seem to trust their opinions due to their educational levels but…. that does not seem to be helping them much, lol! 😆 I hope that all made sense - Thank you! 👍

    You most likely were using a defective Temtop unit. I have a Temtop unit that VERY closely correlates to the PM 2.5 numbers reported by the California Air Resources Board in my area.

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment. Anything is possible in regards to the accuracy of the Temtop unit... But the most important message I want people to get out of the video is this... Some of the limitations of air quality testers, in general... (which applies to the vast majority of air quality testers on the market) so consumers better understand what they are purchasing/getting: 1) Ultrafine particles (.1 to .003 microns in size) are the MOST COMMON in our air (make up 90% of the particles in our air). And ultrafine particles are the MOST DANGEROUS to our health as they are able to get into our bloodstream and access all the organs in our bodies, including our brains. The Air Quality Testers on the market are not able to provide accurate readings on ultrafine particles. 2) The overall accuracy of Air Quality Monitors may be affected by the following variables: A. Different strengths/speeds of Air flow B. Different Temperatures C. Different Levels of Relative Humidity D. Different Electromagnetic Frequencies 3) Single Air Quality Testers are not able to detect all of the 15,000 or more VOCs/Chemicals in the surrounding air. 4) Air Quality Testers are not able to tell us what the particles in our air actually are (ie. Mold, Asbestos, etc.) Some particles will be more dangerous than others. 5) I want people to understand that when their air quality monitor says their air is “Good” - that does NOT necessarily mean they have “Perfect” Air Quality and everything is Unicorns and Rainbows at that point, LOL! No Air Quality Monitor on the market is 100% accurate for everything, IMO. I don't want people to obtain a "False Sense of Security" in their air quality just because their tester says the air is "Good". This is really the most important message I want consumers to realize. Hope that makes sense - thank you!👍

    Hello, I'm overwhelmed trying to find a good solution. Air purifiers are really a difficult business. Can you recommend an air purifier and tell me what is best for my situation? I have to move into a small room in a new apartment in a few weeks and the smell is still strong there. I'm also extremely sensitive to smells because I'm seriously ill. When I put my nose right in front of the air purifier, the air that comes out has to be crystal clear. It can't smell like the device, like anything else like fresh air outside. Which filter can do that? I have written down here in more detail what additional problems exist: - Formaldehyde from kitchen cabinets, furniture, wood materials, adhesives and varnishes - VOCs (volatile organic compounds) from new-build walls, floors (real wood with varnish or glue), paints, varnishes, adhesives and plastics - Ultrafine particles (<0.1 µm) from chimney smoke, exhaust gases and cigarette smoke - Pollutants from smoke sources such as fine dust (PM2.5 and PM10), soot particles and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) - Cooking smells and particles from fat, oil and burnt food residues (e.g. without an extractor hood) - Fragrances and aerosols from deodorants, perfumes and other synthetic fragrance sources - New-build smells due to outgassing from building materials, varnishes and floor coverings - Mold spores due to possible residual moisture in the new building - House dust and allergens such as pollen, mites or Animal hair - Ozone and nitrogen oxides (NOx) from outside through traffic or heating systems in the area but the main problem is actually the new building fumes from the walls, from the wooden floor, underfloor heating, perhaps from paint residues and so on I would be very grateful if you could give me an answer. You are the only person I really trust in this area. I have already watched many of your videos.

      @Florian0400 OK, I contacted Airpura with your specifications and they said: "She lives in a small room so she would only need the 400 BUT not the ones we see on our site. She cannot do with a regular HEPA either because she will smell the polymers/borosilicate... She won't be able to handle the UV either judging by her email. You can tell her that you've discussed customization with us and she can call us with your code. She would need the compact 400 with 12 lbs of MCS odorless carbon, prefilter and HEPA barrier." Airpura is the closest thing to carbon experts in this industry that I work with: 1) They can use "odorless carbon" which has less of a chance of bothering chemically sensitive people. 2) Plus, they make steel air purifiers which are less likely to offgas. 3) And they can customize solutions for chemically sensitive folks. Therefore, I think the best option for you is to contact them directly as unlike most other manufacturers, they can "customize" a solution based on your specific needs - which is pretty rare and awesome in this industry! And one of the numerous reasons I really like them. So, please contact Aolani Harrison at: 450-978-9020 x210 / 866-505-7872 x210 and she can help customize a solution for you. + You can use coupon code DZAIR10 to get a 10% discount. Thank you!👍

But I am in such a serious health emergency that I really have to do the right thing. What you told me sounds really good but I would like an assessment from you because I have looked into it so intensively: -what about the Austinair, which is also made of metal and has a lot of activated carbon? What I don't like about it, however, is that everything is in one filter. My favorites are the ones that are coming up now. -what about the aeris with gas filter? It is also supposed to be very powerful. -what about the iqair 250, I was hoping that the 2.5 kilos would be enough, but probably not and that is the next question. What do you think about iqair multigas in my situation? I would be really happy if you could assess things again. And you and the salesperson are right. Am I the only one who doesn’t care if it takes the unit 20 vs 40 minutes to clean the air in a room? Just crank the unit on high, and leave the room for an hour. Filtering more dangerous particles in the end seems way more important than speed and noise…

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment. 1) The CADR is not nearly as accurate of an indicator/metric for air purifier performance as many on the Internet are making it out to be. 2) Two of the 5 HEPA air purifiers in the RTINGS.com test that filtered better than the CR Box did have AHAM certified CADR Ratings. And they had MUCH lower CADR rates than the CR Box they filtered better than… as Mr. Corsi claimed in one of his CR Box Peer Reviewed studies that the CADR on high speed should be around 800. Two of the HEPA units in the RTINGS.com test that filtered better, had CADRs of only 320 and 242 (they were officially tested by AHAM - the Honeywell HPA300 and the Winix 5500). Yet, they both filtered better than the CR Box for .3 and .5 micron concentrations after 35 minutes. The 3 other air purifiers that filtered better than the CR Box did not have official AHAM CADR numbers - but, we could imagine - their CADR numbers would be much lower than the CR Box, as well. 3) I made a video in the past detailing multiple areas where the official AHAM test for the CADR on air purifiers is lacking in many areas: th-cam.com/video/M5gH6IBqPkc/w-d-xo.html ***They don’t test for particles less than .5 microns in size but over 90% of the particles in our air are less than .5 microns in size. ***They don’t test for Ultrafine particles which are .1 to .003 microns in size and they = OVER 90% of the particles in the air we breathe and they are by far the most dangerous to humans. ***They don’t test for VOCs/chemical filtration, etc. and there are more issues with their test, as well. 4) I made a video here about 3 Peer Reviewed Studies on Air Purifiers and MERV 13 solutions which shows some MERV 13 solutions/CR Boxes with higher CADR rates filtered MUCH WORSE than some inexpensive HEPA air purifiers in a test RTINGS.com performed a few months ago: th-cam.com/video/HdK90KFBSHM/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AirPurificationEducation And at 27:46 in that video, we see information from a multimillion dollar MERV and HEPA filter manufacturer in Germany state that CADR is NOT the only metric folks should be looking at when evaluating the performance of filters. 5) My next video will specifically be about CADR and I will delve further into the CADR deceptions and misinformation that currently plagues the Internet. Thank you! 👍

      Thank you for your comment. Yes, I've heard this. I think you have access to the IQAir Healthpro Plus which is a very good unit for particles.... I think you can get Airpura units but they will ship from Canada and even the smaller units will cost like $400 to ship to you which really stinks! 😭 I think on the lesser expensive side - for 400 sq. ft. /37 sq. meter rooms or so... Something you can get at a reasonable price - the TruSens Z-3000 is probably a good choice for the money and I currently think it filters particles well, in comparison to, the Coway Mighty and Winix 5500. I just got one and the smallest one as well, as they were on sale in the US and I'm gonna run them in my house and I plan on eventually making a video on them... Below is a writeup I made on the 3000 unit b4 I purchased it - as some folks were asking me about it... . I still gotta unbox it and get it running😄 Thanks Again! 👍 ************************************************************************* What I sent commentators in the past: I have never sold or owned any Leitz air purifiers so I am providing my opinion based on what I can figure from analyzing information online. That said: 1) I am a BIG fan of German engineering, in general. 2) So, we take a look at their website and they make many different products: Paper shredders, Laminating, Binding and Cutting Products, filing products, Smartphone and Computer Accessories and other solutions, as well… and they also make air purifiers. When a company makes many different products and - oh by the way - they now also make air purifiers - they are typically not elite performing air purifiers. Like Coway. Coway makes a lot of different products and they make some good air purifiers for the money but not elite filtering ones. The companies that make elite filtering solutions typically ONLY make air purifiers like IQAir, Airpura, Camfil, etc. 3) I was told by a commentator in the past that Leitz was EN1822 certified by a German 3rd party testing company - the same one that tested IQAir. That said, IQAir has been tested by at least 2 different 3rd party companies. And the IQAir HealthPro Plus was tested for the “entire system” - meaning with the filters in the unit. THAT is impressive. Most companies that show “testing results” will only have the filters tested and they won’t have the actual air purifiers tested with the filters in them. In almost every case the “entire system” testing results will be WORSE than just the filter being tested by itself. Partially because you need a GREAT seal between the HEPA filter and the inside of the air purifier. This is oftentimes NOT easy to accomplish. On the Z-2000 and Z-3000 (in US) and Z-2500 and Z-3500 (in Europe) specifically - my initial opinions are: 4) Gaskets/Seal: The Gaskets at the bottom of the filter and the top are OK looking from a quality standpoint. That said, I LOVE the fact that you screw the filter into the unit. Assuming the screwing motion enables you to really press the filter up against the top of the inside of the unit and the bottom portion. If if forces you to screw the filter until it won’t budge anymore… this would create a much better seal than the vast majority of less expensive cylindrical filter type air purifiers. And a much better seal than the vast majority of air purifiers with perpendicular installed filters. For an inexpensive solution - their internal seal appears to be much better than the vast majority of less expensive airpurifiers on the market, for sure. 5) Carbon: The tiny amount of carbon they supply with the unit is very poor and it will not help much with odors, at all. It was seemingly an afterthought. They do offer other filter options with more carbon but they make the mistake of putting the carbon last/after the HEPA filter in the Pet Filter option. Therefore, some carbon will eventually probably get into the air. So, I am not a fan of that option. But the other options where you can put the carbon filter before the HEPA seem like a good idea. 6) Prefilter: The prefilter is decent for the filters. And it is a better prefilter than most of the less expensive cylindrical filter air purifiers on the market. Therefore, the HEPA filter will not get clogged nearly as quickly as most of their competitor’s solutions. 7) Smart Features: I don’t care about the smart features as the air quality sensors on air purifiers tend not to be super accurate so I never recommend anyone purchase an air purifier based on the Smart features. Also, the apps. oftentimes tend to have issues. 8) EN1822 Certification: The filters themselves are EN1822 certified but not the “entire system”. Still, they appear to be decent quality filters for the money and there seems to exist a good seal inside the unit so I think the units will filter well for particles and definitely better than most less expensive cylindrical (and perpendicular) HEPA solutions on the market. 9) UV Light: I am not a huge fan of the UV Lights on air purifiers and I do not know how much they really improve the overall performance of the solutions. Most of the best filtering air purifiers on the market do not possess UV Lights so I currently don’t think it is a big value add. 10) Conclusion: I have to say I am impressed with these solutions from a particle filtration standpoint… and I gotta say - It looks like German engineering “did it again” to a certain degree… that said, I think the products may actually be manufactured in India. So, for a 300 sq. ft. room with 8 foot ceilings - you can get 5 air exchanges with the Z-3000/Z-3500 - which is really GOOD! I’d currently put this particular unit at #12 on my list of best air purifiers for particles for 300 sq. ft. - ahead of the Rabbit Air BioGS, the Coway Mighty and the Winix 5500. airpurificationeducation.com/asthma-allergies-and-dust-particulates-in-general/ I’m tempted to put it above the Coway 400 at #10 but the 400 would be able to get double the air exchanges in an hour and that may make it actually filter the room better even though it doesn’t possess a strong seal inside the unit. So, I’m gonna need more time to figure that all out. But, all in all - these Leitz cylindrical filter units look very good for the pricing. I’m gonna add them to my listing in the future. Thanks!👍

      Thank you for your comment. Yeah, I think it is especially easy to get away with a lot of nonsense in this industry because consumers can't actually "see" most of the particles being filtered - or not being filtered. And testing sensors are typically not too accurate... And there could be 15,000+ chemicals in the air so how are consumers supposed to know which ones are being filtered and to what degree? So, it is HARD for consumers to really know how well their air purifiers are actually filtering in their environments - save for folks with asthma/allergies or chemical sensitivities - who notice an immediate improvement in their breathing. And many manufacturers use marketing to take advantage of this - for sure, IMO. Thank you! 👍

    Don't these devices need time to normalize? You started the test minutes after placing them and starting them up. From other sources on this I understand longer testing would be required. Also a lot of this video repeats the same things over and over. You could probably shorten it to about half the length.

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your comment/feedback. 1) It is possible that longer testing may be required for more accurate results in the hotel room. How long do you think the sensors should be running to get more accurate results? 2) More than anything - I want folks to realize that if an air quality sensor says "Good" quality air - that: A) they are not taking into account Ultrafine particles which are the most plentiful in the air and the most dangerous to humans. And B) they are typically not very good at identifying - or accurately reading, the 15,000+ chemicals that may be in the air we breath, either. C) Plus, a monitor may say we have "Good" air quality but we may have a lot of mold in our spaces, etc. The sensors don't tell us exactly what type of particles we have in our air. Some particles are more dangerous to others. So, I don't want people to get a "false sense of security" based on the readings of an air quality tester in their environments. 3) Yeah, I have obsessive compulsive thinking processes - I may have ADHD - I am somewhat obsessively detail oriented - which is sometimes good and sometimes not so good - and YES, I know I repeat myself too much... I try to cut/edit it out of the videos but... some of my repetition probably still slips through, LOL!😆 My wife will sometimes say, "You already said that!"🤣 Thanks!

      1) I've had 1 IQAir HPP for about 10 years b4 it broke and it made some funky noises around year 6 (I would sometimes punch/smack the top of it to quiet it down) and I have one now that is about 1 year old and it did make some jiggling noise after only a few months.... I put a 5 lb. weight on top of it to shut it up, LOL! And now, without the weight, I think it doesn't make the funky noise anymore... But, I wasn't too happy to hear the jiggling on a less than 1 year old $900 air purifier... And now they want $50 more, it seems. 2) So, I am a big fan of the filtration of the IQAir HPP but I have come to the realization/conclusion that I think the steel units made by Airpura and Austin Air probably last longer and are more prone to being problem free... 2 units is not a large sample, for sure... and I am guessing on this but... - I had 2 Austin Air units run 247 for over 15 years on high speed and I never had 1 issue... And the IQAir HPP that broke at about year 10 was only run 40 hours a week max. So, it only ran 25% as much as the Austin unit b4 it died... 3) With this in my mind... I think it is possibly OK to buy a used IQAir HPP unit - esp. if you change the filters... because we don't know what they were filtering.... But, I'd like to know how old the unit is and if you can check on the hours the unit ran - that would be a plus. In my opinion, if the unit is within 3 years old - I think I'm pretty cool with that ... all things considered... but, I'd also check for any cracks in the plastic chassis, as well... when you get your hands on it. 4) If your room is 500 sq. ft. or less with 8 ft. ceilings - you can get a brand new Airpura R414 with a Super HEPA filter for about $485 (with coupon code DZAIR10 - normally $535). And I think it will filter particles in a similar manner to the HPP + it has more carbon so it will be better for odors/VOCs + it is smaller so it can sit on a table, etc. And it has the same motor as the Austin Air larger unit so it is powerful and that thing was still going strong after 15 years when I swapped it out with a HPP and the other one with an Aeris 3 in 1. 5) So... I personally, would not purchase a used air purifier but... if someone could get a HPP that "looked" nice without any cracks and it was less than 3 years old... and it was a really good price - like maybe, $300 or something like this... then, that might be OK.... but, I'd want a 30 day return policy... + I'd want to know if any of the warranty still applies... Else - I'd consider an Airpura... as I am quite a fan of their solutions, as well... and customers sometimes refer to them as "almost like Industrial quality"... Those are my 2 cents - Good Luck! 👍

      @@AirPurificationEducation thanks so much for the detailed response! The Airpura R414 was on my radar along with the Winix 5500-2. I've seen people on reddit recommend the Winix, I assume the price for performance is why. I have a 300 sq ft living room with a tall shed ceiling (14-8 ft) so wasn't sure if the winix would cut it or the Airpura. If the Airpura has a solid fan as you mentioned maybe I'll go for that one. @AirPurificationEducation 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@CpnCrunch211 I like the Winix 5500 units for the $150 pricing and 2 units would definitely improve the overall air quality in your space but... the R414 is on a totally different filtration level for particles and vocs/chemicals. And it's gaskets and internal seal are vastly superior to the 5500 units. I think the R414 is like having a "mini" IQAir HPP in the room.... the R414 comes with a Super HEPA filter (99.99% at .3 microns) so it is just on a totally different level. Also, I've become more and more of the belief that air purifiers that shoot the clean air parallel to the ground will tend to provide better air quality for consumers - depending on where the units are located in relation to the people. There is no such thing as true, total "Air Exchanges" in a room - in the real world. Dirty air will leak into the environment on a regular basis and there is dust and debris on the floor, desk, bed, our clothing, etc. that will also enter the air over time, as well, as we move around and "Stir it up". So, if you have high ceilings - that will be more of a negative for the Winix 5500 units - since the clean air comes out the top towards the ceiling. The R414 will push the clean air moreso in the direction of the inhabitants of the room - which I think is much better - esp. in your room arrangement. I also like the Coway Mighty at the $150 price point and I think it has a better seal than the Winix 5500 - I have both and recently analyzed them after 6 months of running. So, over time... I think the Mighty will filter better with dirty filters than the 5500. I know the RTINGS.com test shows the 5500 filtering better than the Mighty with brand new filters... but I do not think that will be true after 6 weeks or so of actual use. Either way, I think the Mighty and 5500 are somewhat similar in performance for particles and good at the $150 price range... but I do think the R414 will be superior for smaller particle filtration that both of them. Good Luck!👍

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your question... I am not sure how good their solutions are as I don't currently have any direct experience with their solutions. Here is how I’ve answered some other folks in the past: 1) The Test on the Product page: 1A) I see this person named Ryan Richie test the Intellipure unit vs. 5 other brands/units and it filters better than all the others in an impressive manner - in a video at this link. www.intellipure.com/products/intellipure-compact 1B) That said, I just made a video about how the last person we can trust to test air purifiers are employees of the air purifier manufacturer: th-cam.com/video/zeGa90e65SE/w-d-xo.html If you didn’t already see it… 1C) And he says he ran the test on low speed for all the units… I’ve never seen anyone do this before… they usually run the air purifiers on higher speeds as I think very few customers will run their units on the lowest speeds… and the units tend to filter better on the lowest speeds… however, they get very few air exchanges as we would expect. So, it makes me wonder if the technology they use in the unit tests out better at lower speeds.... or else, why would he be doing this? 1D) Also, he sticks the end of the tester inside the chassis of each unit which I’ve also never seen anyone do before… Again, this makes me wonder if this Intellipure unit “tests out better” with the tester inside the unit. Many of the business owners/employees of air purifier manufacturers have 19,763 different ways to rig tests to make their units test out better… They “learn” how to make their units test out better over time… trial and error… I don’t know if Ryan is rigging the test to obtain favorable results… but… I wouldn’t be surprised. 2) Also, he says he is testing for “UltraFine Particles” and says .3 microns is UFP territory. However, this is NOT the case as UFP are .1 to .003 microns in size - so it is NOT a good look that he either: A) Does not know that .3 microns is only considered “Fine” particle sizes or B) Is intentionally misleading consumers who don’t know the difference. Either way, it is a bad look for a company that is supposed to be well versed on the definition of UFP… and I would consider it to be underhanded marketing tactics. I mean, how could any higher-up in an air purification manufacturer not know the definition of Ultafine Particles? It is ridiculous, IMO. 3) Someone posted on my channel about 10 months ago that they purchased an Intellipure unit for $899 unit and it broke within 2 years. And he was disappointed and was trying to get the manufacturer to help him. It didn't sound like they were helping too much. Plus, they didn’t have any warranty information available on their website which is SUPER rare for an air purifier manufacturer…. And NOT in a good way. They have since added warranty info. to their website since my checking… 4) Annual filter replacements appear to be $285 which is fairly expensive. 5) I know they talk about the DFS Technology but I haven't really seen extensive information that explains it well - other than it is "an energy field". 6) I see Intellipure is a brand owned by Healthway and Healthway does actually have a LinkedIn page with actual employees and a different website: www.healthway.com/our-brands/ And here is Ryan Richie from the testing video and it states he is the EVP of Business Development at Healthway Family of Brands… www.linkedin.com/in/ryan-richie/ So now, I don’t totally understand why they don’t mention Heathway on the Intellipure website… And Healthway sells air purification solutions that include all the ones from the Intellipure website, as well. So, there is total overlap, it seems… I am not sure what to make of all of it. 7) The Google Maps Reviews for their location are overwhelmingly positive however, some of them seem to be “too Positive” and “too enthusiastic”... 8) We have a video here with Dr. Jill Crista who recommends the Intellipure solutions and has a coupon code for viewers. th-cam.com/video/GfjDSK0q9rA/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Dr.JillCrista She interviews Vinny Lobdell - the President and Co-Founder of Intellipure - so, we’ve FINALLY found the President! WooHoo! Why is his name not on the website or LinkedIn page? It seems he has moved on to other business endeavors. Oh, and - the Comments have been “Turned Off” for the video… hmmm… I wonder why. Vinny was the Global President of Pure Wellness starting in Feb 2012 until Nov. 2021 and during his tenure at Pure Wellness - in 2017, he became the co-founder of Intellipure… so, I’m not sure how that all came about. 9) I will say, I saw some impressive EN1822 testing results for the Intellipure solutions on their website.. but the testing company which did those tests also gave an AirDoctor unit a 100% filtration rate at .003 microns which I HIGHLY DOUBT to be true. Even the IQAir HealthPro Plus was EN1822 3rd party tested to do 99.5% at .003 microns… and I am positive the AirDoctor unit does not filter particles as well as the IQAir HPP… so, I think their official, impressive EN1822 test results are questionable, of course… So, there is that… 10) Also, Reddit person complaining of ozone coming from the Intellipure product www.reddit.com/r/AirPurifiers/comments/1dwyvsa/i_just_got_an_intellipure_468_dfs_filter/ Also, Reddit Intellipure EMF issues: www.reddit.com/r/AirPurifiers/comments/1dfxkxa/intellipure_emf/?share_id=PX0eDqrBbwuBMxtxgAz-B& So, I don't 100% know how good/great the Intellipure solutions are... but, I am leaning towards being skeptical. @ again thanks! Would something like the Delos DC1100 be a good tool to get a sense of a home air quality and efficiency of an air purifier? I know they measure only up to 0.5 microns or do you know a better 6 channel that goes lower to say 0.3?

      @@davidvaliquette6442 Dylos has a unit that goes to .3 microns. And I think the Dylos brand is decent for testing particle concentration accuracy but it won't tell us about the UFP nor the VOC levels - nor if there is mold in the air, etc. So, I don't typically tell folks to invest in an air quality sensor because I oftentimes don't feel they provide tremendous value to most folks... and worse - if someone sees a "good" air quality reading - they typically will feel a level of relief/security but... that reading does not mean their air quality is perfect... so, folks can easily get a false sense of security that may not be true. I currently prefer people invest their money in a good air filtration solution... That, to me, makes the most sense. If there was a sensor that was pretty accurate for UFPs and then there was another sensor that was fairly accurate for most of the 15000+ chemicals in the air - or the most common/dangerous ones and both the sensors were reasonably priced - then I would even invest in them.... And I hope that day comes soon... However, I do not know that these 2 units currently exist... at reasonable prices... That said, I do think it is a decent idea to get a decent CO2 monitor as I have heard it is easier for testers to be more accurate at testing CO2 and that would probably be a good thing to track...

    I own four Levoit products. But their deceit leaves me painfully uncertain as to what to do now. In totality, I own (4) Levoits, (2) Blueair, and (1) Honeywell. All the Air Purifiers I Own: Levoit Core 400S Plasmapro Levoit Core 400S Plasmapro Levoit Core Mini Levoit Core 200S Blueair 411a (newer redesigned model) Blueair 211i Max Honeywell HPA5300B Out of them, I love my Honeywell HPA5300B the most. I see the drafts in my room moving my curtains, papers, etc. And I actually feel there's a difference in my room. I dont sneeze or cough nearly as much. I also see it working by looking at my prefilter. I know Honeywell uses a fibrous carbon filter and it is often criticized for it. However, odors aren't my primary concern and I dont expect air purifiers to rid of all odors. What is your view on Honeywell air purifiers? I like that theyre AHAM and CARB certified. They also use HEPA filters. I believe that Honeywell is more honest than their competitors by accurately stating the room size that they are recommended for by using the 4.8 ACH and not by 1 or 2 ACH that other competitors use to "wow" factor their air purifiers. I'm looking at buying an HPA5200B today as we speak 😊❤ for my work.

      Thank you for your feedback on the units you own. ***"I believe that Honeywell is more honest than their competitors by accurately stating the room size that they are recommended for by using the 4.8 ACH and not by 1 or 2 ACH that other competitors use to "wow" factor their air purifiers." Agreed, the 1 or 2 ACH marketing tactics - is really kinda ridiculous, IMO. ****************************************************************** I haven’t used the HPA5200B nor do I have direct experience with it but based on what I see online - I’d say: 1) GASKET: No gasket on the HEPA filters so there will not be a good seal within the unit between the HEPA filters and the inside of the unit. 2) INTERNAL SEAL: Not a good internal seal as the HEPA filters don’t have gaskets + nothing seems to be pushing the HEPA filters against the inside of the unit so there won’t be a good internal seal. Around 6:30 in this video shows the filters being installed: th-cam.com/video/AFGcESCKvCc/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=TheSeaboltFamily And even this guy - who seems to be an air purification novice - mentions he sees a “gap” in the filters inside the unit - after he puts the front back on… which is NEVER a good thing. 3) CARBON: Not much carbon, at all, so it won’t be great for odors but it should act decently at a prefilter to protect the other 2 HEPA filters from clogging too quickly. But again, the guy in the video said he saw a gap inside the unit where the prefilter was not covering = not good. Some folks said the optional carbon filter does improve the units ability to filter out odors - and that does make sense as it has more carbon… so that may be attractive to some folks, as well. We won’t get a ton of carbon for the $33 or so price but it does seem like it would be an improvement in this area. 4) LIGHTS: The lights on the clear back plastic shield of the unit was a pretty cool idea but they are a 100% Gimmick, IMO. But some folks will be enamored with it, for sure, LOL!😆 CONCLUSION: I think it is a decent unit for the money. It should improve the air quality from a particulate standpoint. I currently see it on Amazon for $160 so I think that is a decent unit for the money… That said, I personally, would go with a Winix 5500 or a Coway Mighty for a similar price and I believe the Mighty probably has a better internal seal than either of the other 2 units. I am not crazy about the filter seals inside this Honeywell unit, at all. Thanks!👍

      @@AirPurificationEducation I appreciate the quick response. The reason I am looking for another air purifier is for my workplace. Unfortunately, I work for an employer who doesn't keep up with work environment safety. I work in laundry and every shift I work in there, I get sinus and allergy symptoms that act up. I have been bringing my Blueair 411a (the new redesigned model from a year or two ago) and it seems to help somewhat. However, I'm needing a unit that is much stronger with a high CADR. I've considered purchasing another Blueair 211i+ Max for this purpose given that it has a large 635 sq. feet of coverage in 12.5 minutes. I have considered a Winix C535 unit that is at my local Walmart and a Winix D360 and D480 that are at my local Home Depot. Of course, the ideal situation would be to have management rectify this but I know they won't do anything. I have requested this and nothing was ever done. I don't have much else regarding employment. I've applied to other places to no avail. My only option for the time being is to purchase and utiilize an air purifier to get me through so I do not get sick with bad sinus infections like I did last year - I was ill a total of 7 times due to the laundry particles(?) and 5 times I required antibiotics. Now that I have explained my situation a bit more, would you still recommend both the Winix and Coway models you recommended for this? Would the Blueair 211i+ Max or the Blueair 311i+ Max be ideal units also? I do like the looks of the Winix C535, D360, and D480 models. They make very attractive air purifiers. Crazily, I have considered purchasing a third Core 400s from Levoit but I truly appreciate your knowledge and suggestions. Please continue producing videos! We all love it! I know I sure do!

Definitely bears more looking into, I was sold on the Dyson but everyone has been singing the praises of the CR and for so much cheaper.

      Thank you for your comment. A CR Box with 4 MERV 13 filters, on high speed, will filter a lot of particles very quickly - especially larger particles... which IS good, for sure. But, according to the RTINGS.com test - 5 air purifiers filtered .5 and .3 micron sized particles better after 35 minutes of running... Plus, it does not have carbon so it will not do a good job on VOCs. So, I would not say it is the "BEST" air purifier on the market... and only 1 of the 5 HEPA units that filtered better was expensive - the Dyson unit. A Winix 5500 for about $150 seems like a decent unit to implement - if people are not willing to invest a lot of money in their solution... and NONE of the 5 HEPA units that filtered better were "High Level" air purifiers, either, IMO. So, I really like the CR Box for woodworking environments and maybe applications like that... but, am I going to put one in my bedroom when I may be getting better filtration with a $150 Winix 5500? Me personally, no. But if others wanna go with it - then great. Go for it - but folks should know what they are getting. Thank you!👍

    Hello my friend ::) Thank you very much for the investment in the videos you upload for all of us, it was great, I really appreciate it! I think there is a lack of explanation about the different types of filters. I would really like to purchase a reliable device, from a reliable company. The world has really entered a cycle of companies that manipulate most of the world, and today it is difficult to know what is right and what is wrong. I need a device that does not have all the methods and gimmicks / methods such as Air Scrubbers Electrostatic ionizer Ionic Purifiers Ozone Generators plasma Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) UV LIGHT UVGI TiO2 filter etc. I want the most basic thing, a fine filter with a standard and activated carbon, that's all. And I find that every company has something they hide, or put different materials, such as Coway geenhepa filters. There is no transparency about their additives. Do they leak? Are they approved? Where can you find a company these days that is not too expensive that does the most sensible thing, a quality air filter and activated carbon, and that's it. There are all sorts of companies I've seen all over the internet that don't even work with Amazon, etc. maybe in indie company ? I'm sure there are quality companies in the world that we don't hear about. All the media and advertising buzz about the things we all know has probably pushed the good companies aside. Do you have any advice on where to buy something legitimate at a price that won't break the bank? PS- for medium and pretty large space Peace, Alon

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your question. I’ve only taken a look at it online and here’s what I think after a little checking into it: A, B, C, and D are based on what I see in the Modern Castle Review of the unit: th-cam.com/video/gby4vRyHcHQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ModernCastle A) PREFILTER/SCREEN: looks decent for larger particles B) CARBON: seems to have a decent amount of carbon in comparison to most air purifiers. And they recommend changing the carbon every 6 months which is more reasonable/responsible than what many manufacturers recommend - so I do like that. C) GASKET: I think I like the gasket on the HEPA filters more than most HEPA filters on the market. I have not been able to inspect them with my hands but they look better than most HEPA air purifiers that I’ve seen. D) SEAL BETWEEN GASKET and Inside of UNIT: This appears to be just OK as it does not seem anything is actually pressing the HEPA filter against the inside of the unit. So, it is not a great seal. E) COST OF UNIT: is pretty high at $999 on Amazon (12/8/24). That is more than an IQAir HealthPro Plus. They seem to have some sales - like on Cyber Monday, they had the unit at $600 which is much more reasonable. F) COST of REPLACEMENT FILTERS: These are EXPENSIVE at about $300 a year. Which makes this one of the most expensive Air Purifiers on the market for annual cost of replacement filters. G) Coway 400 - Right now, we can gets 2 Coway Airmega units for $938.00. This would give us 2 air purifiers at 2 different locations in a large room area and I think that is oftentimes better than having 1 “centrally” located solution (assuming they filter in similar manners). And I’ve seen the Coway 300 on sale for $359 so 2 of those would be $718. Again, at 2 different locations in a space. H) The Coway 400 replacement filters are only $129. So, it would be $258 and less expensive per year for replacement filters for 2 Coway 400 units at 2 different locations with more CFM and more air exchanges - than a single AirDoctor 5500. That said, I do think the seal for the 5500 - even though, not great… does look like it is better than the 400 units seal… That said…. I) According to the AirDoctor website we’d get 4 air exchanges an hour in 1,043 sq. ft with the 5500…. but according to the Coway website - we’ll get 4 air exchanges in 1,560 sq. ft. with 2 Airmega 400 untis. So, we’ll literally get 50% more air flow and 50% more air exchanges with 2 Airmega 400 units… and in a larger space - I do think that will produce better quality air than a single 5500 unit, in general. J) CONCLUSION: So, will the AirDoctor 5500 filter better than 1 Coway Airmega 400 unit? Yes, I think it probably will, in general…. But, it costs a lot more… and we could therefore bring in 2 Airmega units and probably get better filtration performance than a single Airdoctor 5500 for a similar investment.

    I went to yer blog but don't know how to contact u other than here. Thanks for all the info in the vids. I have prior mold exposure and now have mcs. Staying in an aging house with some mold but its tolerable compared to hotels and apartments in Massachusetts generally. My budget is low. Ive tested the winnix 5500-2 for mold in my bedroom and a coway 1512 HHS (new one that has carbon filter similar to winnix model). I've noticed the winnix seems better for mold and the coway is maybe best for my roommate who smokes a lot. The sensor on the coway is much more responsive. Would you say that assessment is correct? Winnix: mold and coway: smoke? Are there any other models that are better for these purposes within that price range?

    • @AirPurificationEducation
      @AirPurificationEducation 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for your questions. 1) I think the Winnix 5500 and the Coway Mighty are fairly similar to each other for particle filtration, in general. I think they are definitely 2 of the better air purifiers in this price range and I've had many happy customers use them in the past, for sure. But, I think the Coway may possibly have a little bit of a better seal for better particle filtration over time (ex. over weeks as the filters get dirtier). I have both of them and that is what I currently think. But, they are close. 2) Sensors: I think most sensors on air purifiers are somewhat/pretty inaccurate. I think the Winnix sensor may only test for some VOC levels - If I remember correctly. I don't really look at the sensors on my air purifiers and I don't really check the 5 stand alone air quality sensors I have either, as I don't really think they are super accurate and they cannot tell me the Ultrafine particle levels in the air (which composes 90% of the particles in the air we breathe and are the most hazardous to humans)... and I put 2 stand alone air quality testers in a space with horrible VOCs/chemicals and they both said the air quality was "Good", LOL! So, I don't want people to rely on them too much to tell them how clean their air is. They can say the air quality is "Good" - while folks may have high levels of mold or asbestos in the air - or high levels of CO2 or radon or possibly some of the 15,000 or so other chemicals that may be in the air that they are not getting a reading for. So, I am not a big fan of them - even the one on my $750 Aeris 3 in 1 that was made by a guy with a Master's Degree in Engineering... the air quality sensors - even stand alone ones - have severe limitations, IMO - at this point in time. 3) Carbon: The carbon filter on the Coway unit has less gaps in the carbon than the Winnix 5500 so it will probably do a better job on filtering VOCs/chemicals/odors in the short term... Neither unit is very good for VOCs/odors in the long term, IMO as they have very limited amounts of carbon. 4) Another unit in this price range you may be interested in is the Leitz TruSens product line. I just received the larger 3000 model and the smaller one a few days ago but have yet to open them. I'll start running them within a week. I have a write up on them as to why I think they may be good that you may wish to read below... Some folks have asked me about them in the past and this is what I told them... Thank you! ************************************************************************ www.trusens.com/c/air-purifiers/?srt=relevance Question: I was looking at Leitz air purifiers. Should I trust them? Answer: I have never sold or owned any Leitz air purifiers so I am providing my opinion based on what I can figure from analyzing information online. 26.B. Leitz Carbon Options: Question: Well from what I gathered on the website. These actually run split filters. So you can add more carbon as an option. Or mix and match depending on what you're needs are. You can order the carbon insert that goes on the inside of the base hepa filter. Answer: 8/18/24 Yeah, I know they offer options for additional carbon filters… and they say the filters are also from DuPont, as well. However, I do not see them claiming they are EN1822 certified like the HEPA fiters that come with the units. So it makes me wonder if the filter options with more carbon will be as good for particulate filtration. Seems they are using a different HEPA filter in them. And/or are they using less HEPA material in the carbon filter options - to accommodate the larger amount of carbon? That will also affect the particulate filtering capabilities. Also, they say the carbon will last 3-4 months and I think the cost of ownership can start to get fairly expensive if someone really needs a decent carbon solution and they have to order carbon 4 times a year… if they have significant odor/VOC issues in their environment. My IQAir HPP with 5 lbs. of carbon seemed to be less effective at around 6 months - ditto the Aeris 3 in 1 with 2.2 lbs. of carbon - I’d say more like less than 5 months… so, the Leitz carbon options I’d guess will probably be good for maybe 3 months max, in most cases…. But, this timeframe could be less if someone really needs a good carbon solution. If someone needs a good carbon solution - they need a lot of it… The Airpura smaller units like the R414 and R400 come with 8 lbs. of carbon - now that is a real carbon solution that should help someone for at least 6 to 18 months depending on how much carbon they need. So, I am currently more enthusiastic about the Leitz cylindrical units for particulate filtering at the price points they are offering - than what they offer on the upgraded carbon side. TruSens 3000/3500 CARBON OPTIONS OPINION updated 11/28/24: I believe the 3000 and 3500 are essentially the same unit but the 3000 is sold in your neck of the woods and the 3500 is sold in the US. On the carbon - this is something to consider: The 3000 is EN1822 certified which is AMAZING for a unit/solution in this price range! However, when we look at the different filter options there are differences: www.leitz.com/en-gb/products/wellness/air-purifiers/leitz-trusens--z-3000-air-purifier-with-sensorpod--air-quality-monitor--large-room/ The original filter that comes with the unit and just a little carbon has different features from the other filter/carbon options: 1) Replacement 3 in 1 H13 HEPA Filter: www.leitz.com/en-gb/products/wellness/filters--accessories/replacement-3-in-1-h13-hepa-filter-for-leitz-trusens-z-3000---z-3500-large-air-purifier/ A) Washable Prefilter: “Washable prefilter offers the first level of defence against larger particles like dust and pet hair. Hand wash with mild soap as needed. ***This is GOOD in that I think it is a decent prefilter to help protect the HEPA filter.” B) CARBON: “Carbon filter captures odours and certain gases. Replace every 3 months.” ***This is not good from a VOC/Chemical/Odor standpoint… as it is not much carbon. BUT, it may serve people’s needs if replaced regularly - but IDK… it is kinda tricky - different carbon filters differently. C) EN1822 Certification and it will filter better for Ultrafine Particles: “H13 HEPA filter captures a minimum of 99.95% of ultrafine particles between 0.1 and 0.2 micron (MPPS) This filter assembly meets the requirements of H13 HEPA in accordance with EN 1822-1:2019 & EN ISO 29463-5:2018” ***This is GREAT and I’ve NEVER seen an air purifier at this price point offer this. THIS is what made me buy the unit to check it out (along with the fact you screw the filter into the unit for a better seal). D) So, I think this filter arrangement will be optimal for particle filtration and the most dangerous and most plentiful UFP filtration… 2) Replacement Carbon Filter: www.leitz.com/en-gb/products/wellness/filters--accessories/replacement-carbon-filter-for-leitz-trusens-z-3000---z-3500-large-odour-and-voc-filter--1-pack/ A) This has more carbon and it says it can be used in all the 3000 units - however, it is smaller than the original HEPA filter which means it will fit inside of it and be the LAST filter the air goes through. That is not good as we always want the carbon component before the HEPA filter. It is too bad as they are SO CLOSE to making a cost effective air purifier that does a really good job on particles and VOCs/odors… But, I will never us an air purifier with the carbon last. 3) TruSens DuPont Odor and VOC True HEPA filter: www.leitz.com/en-gb/products/wellness/filters--accessories/odour-and-voc-3-in-1-hepa-filter-drum-for-leitz-trusens-z-3000---z-3500-large-air-purifier/ A) On the surface it appears they fixed the issue with this arrangement. The Carbon filter is outside the HEPA filter and the HEPA filter comes last. B) However, this means the HEPA filter is probably smaller and has less material than the 3 in 1 H13 filter. C) And they call this a “True HEPA” filter but not “H13” like the other filter, as well. D) There is no gasket on top of the HEPA filter in this option so much more dust and debris will be getting around this HEPA filter. E) They don’t say this HEPA filter is EN1822 certified nor that it performs well for UFP. F) So, this arrangement will do a better job for odors/VOCs however, it will NOT filter nearly as well for dust/particles - and probably UFPs as the 3 in 1 filter. Man, they are SO CLOSE to possibly NAILING it with this unit with a reasonable price… it’s just that carbon takes up a lot of space if you want a lot of it (and it raises the price)... and they only have a smallish space to fit everything. So, either the higher level HEPA performance gets sacrificed or the odor/VOC/Chemical component takes a hit, IMO. All that said, if they added about $70 to the cost of the initial unit (I’m guessing on this) and made the footprint wider by say 2-4 inches, I think they could create a kickass air purifier for under $300 (at least in the US - as it retails for $229 in the US) that can filter particles AND odors better than ANYTHING at that price point… or even $400 - $450 and less. Now, the Airpura R414 out of Canada is $535 and it has 8 lbs. of carbon! And a Super HEPA filter which filters better than HEPA at 99.99% at .3 microns - and THAT thing is a BEAST to mess with - esp. for the money. Plus, it has a STEEL chassis…. The Trifecta. Back to the TruSens 3000: Now, the additional carbon with the superior, thicker HEPA filter would probably cause the unit to have less airflow, in general - so it is a little tricky for sure… I don’t want to make it sound easier to accomplish than it probably is, LOL! But, let’s say they make the unit about 2 inches taller as well, so the HEPA and carbon filters can be taller and therefore they add more carbon with less thickness… maybe they would be able to retain most of the airflow that they currently offer with the solution… IDK, but that is where the high level, super talented engineers come into play, obviously…. And I’d bet on the Germans being able to make it happen. Anyhow, that is what I am currently thinking.👍

      @@AirPurificationEducationI'm terribly sorry but there is a little misunderstanding. I totally agree with you about the sensors! I guess I meant that I tried the Winx in my bedroom and it only seemed to respond to ODORS. When it's sensed an odor that's when WHILE ON AUTO, it would go to the highest turbo level to clear the air and then go back down again to a lower speed. The Coway however seems very responsive to smoke or any kind of chemical in the air while ON AUTO. The Coway seemed to respond more frequently to any differences in the are caused by chemicals such as me spring alcohol on something, smoke, etc. That's why I was wondering if I was correct in my assessment that I should put the coway out near the smoker and keep the Winx in my bedroom as I have mcs and mold is an issue. I also noticed that the plasma wave on the Winx IF USED CORRECTLY actually does help but it did actually make me sick to leave it on by accident overnight I got up in the middle of the night and had to turn it off.I did some research and there is a misconception by a lot of these amateur reviewers and I'm glad you did a video about how people should not really pay attention to these people as much as science guys like yourself and a select few other people on TH-cam that I've discovered-a lot of the amateur reviews and shockingly in publications (not science ones lol) the plasma wave system on the Winx is misrepresented as merely AN IONIZER. I forgot the exact science but it's more like it basically clears the ionization that it causes and it's much healthier than just an ionizer. I wasn't referring to the sensors specifically I was referring to the action of the purifiers on auto, where I guess they react to some kind of sensors for air quality but that's not important what's important is the way that they reacted. The Winx doesn't seem as sensitive and it doesn't react as much so I just put it on number three and leave it on and it did a stellar job in the bedroom where is on 3 or on auto the Coway just isn't performing on the mold as well. Just wanted to know if my assessment was correct that call way is probably better for the smoker and the Winx for me. I appreciate your suggestion about that unit that you mentioned I have never heard of it I will look it up. Thank you for all of your advice and hard work based on your years of experience and your attention to detail is impressive. Please finish the videos on the five different kinds of reviewers. 👍

      @@rachelbaron9536 Hey Rachel, 1)"people should not really pay attention to these people as much as science guys like yourself and a select few other people on TH-cam that I've discovered-a lot of the amateur reviews and shockingly in publications" I wouldn't say I'm really a "science guy"... I kinda refer to myself as an "Air Purification Consultant" and "Student of Air Purification"... And I don't think there are really any experts at picking stand-alone air purifiers. "Expert" insinuates "total mastery" IMO... And there are too many air purification solutions on the market for folks to have 1st hand experience with all of them and new units are added on a regular basis. That said, I do think I'm probably better than most at figuring out what will help folks the most, at least, most of the time, lol!😆 2) " That's why I was wondering if I was correct in my assessment that I should put the coway out near the smoker and keep the Winx in my bedroom as I have mcs and mold is an issue." Hmmm... I do think they filter fairly similarly for particles... but since the carbon component has less gaps in the Coway unit - it may be better for odors in the short term... Neither unit is great for odors/VOCs/Chemicals in the long term as they just don't have a lot of carbon. But, if the carbon gets changed on a regular basis they may perform well enough for you... it really depends. There are different levels of MCS and how sensitive folks are. You never really know with an MCS Person until the unit is up and running in their space. So, the Coway may work better for you but the Winix may work better for a different MCS person... so, I really can't tell you for sure. Both units are plastic and many chemically sensitive people are not able to use either because of this issue... Oftentimes, a metal/Steel unit like Austin Air or Airpura is better for an MCS customer and some MCS customers can only go with a steel solution. 3) "the plasma wave system on the Winx is misrepresented as merely AN IONIZER. I forgot the exact science but it's more like it basically clears the ionization that it causes and it's much healthier than just an ionizer. " Yeah, the whole Plasmawave stuff is kinda gray to me, as well, LOL! 4) Auto Mode: Yeah, I don't particularly like the Auto Mode type features on the units - having the units go faster and slower based on the generally inaccurate sensors.... I ALWAYS just run my air purifiers on a medium to high setting 247... I like that the best. Why would I want my air quality to "get worse" and then wait for the air purifier to start running at a higher speed? I want good quality air ALL the time. 5) "Please finish the videos on the five different kinds of reviewers." Yes, I just posted it - for better or for worse, lol!😆 Thank you for your comments! 👍

    I’m surprised the Airpura P714+ isn’t on the list. Is that because you think it’s a bit overkill, or too expensive, or diminishing returns? Hardly better than the Airpura R714? Some other reason(s)?

      Thank you for your question. Airpura has a lot of different units and much more than most all other air purifier manufacturers so, I asked the owner what he considered to be the best for dust/allergens/asthma and he chose the R614/R714 units and the I600/700 so I went with those. I could have added more Airpura units to the list but I didn't want to "overwhelm" people with their brand and also didn't want to appear biased towards them. I do like them a lot, though. Thank you!👍

    one of the 2 temtops next to each other must be a faulty unit. actually, temtops - while not being industrial grade, for sure - are pretty accurate. I have one of this unit, and 5 other temtops showing values in the same ballpark always. Also, the values are similar to readings from the air purifiers as well (well, mostly because they do differ from each other and are not consistent). so yes, temtops are doing their job just well - if you have a completely faulty unit (that you can clearly see when it shows good air in a smog), just send it back regarding the pm2.5 vs pm0.1: unless I will fill my large flat with 10, industrial grade air purifier units for tens of thousands of bucks, that I won't, I am pretty good with pushing down the pm2.5 values to below 3 of pm2.5 do your best to measure and filter the air your family breaths? sure, but there are reasonable limits (we must go out sometimes into the smog anyway) and above the that ROI is just fall to nonsense levels

      Anything is possible... my Temtop unit most always says the air quality is "Good' regardless of what the air quality actually is in the room/environment I put it in... Even when placed in an environment with horrible levels of VOCs/Chemicals - the Temtop unit still says the air quality/TVOCs levels are "Good", lol! Soooo... I'm not really a fan of the unit - thank you for your comment! 👍

Maybe they tweak it a little so it tells the customers the air purifier is working "perfectly", LOL! Thank you!👍

    Did you check out the popular mechanics testing methodology, they don’t even say they they use a sensor in their testing. It reads just like the usual big media slop that is outsourced to freelancers. One big thing we have doing is retesting units at sub 45dBA usually sped 2-3.

    • @AirPurificationEducation

      Thank you for your comment! Yes, I did see their 2024 air purifier listing and I agree. I think with the evolution of the content on the Internet - brands like Popular Mechanics - which started out as just a magazine, back in the day, pre-Internet... have had to "change/modify" their business models to stay relevant (and stay in business)... And they have been somewhat forced to enter into the "Best XYZ product" listings type content... Kinda like the Consumer Reports type business model - also from back in the day. And I think they try their best to come up with good lists of "best products" but it is challenging for them to do a good/accurate job in multiple different niches. So... I don't wanna put all the YT channels/blogs, etc. into just 1 big category - as if they are all equal... as I realize some sources are better/more reliable than others. But for now, that is where it is... Ideally, I'd like to rank the YT channels/blogs brands in the future - time permitting... But we'll see.... Thank you!👍

      Thank you for your comment. Can you please answer the following? 1) You have an Aeris 3 in 1? 2) Did you purchase a brand new unit - or did you get it 2nd hand? They have not been manufactured for at least a year, I believe. So, the Aeris 3 in 1 units being purchased these days are "older" units that have been around for at least a year. Basically, older stock. 3) What country are you in? 4) Are you chemically sensitive? 5) Do you have the Aeris 3 in 1 or the TVOC version? Thank you!

      Thank you for your comment! Yeah, iRobot - founded by 3 MIT graduates... a billion dollar international company... that manufactures robot vacuums that also filter the air... and have been doing so for 20+ years... And Aeris - founded by 1 guy with a Master's degree in Engineering from MIT and the other guy with a Master's degree in Engineering from ETH Zurich.... somehow, didn't seem to realize that all they needed to do was strap a MERV 13 filter to a box fan and Boom Shaka Laka! - they'd have a higher CADR value and therefore, better filtration than the Aeris 3 in 1... I could have saved iRobot $72 Million - if only I had been present in the Board Room to STOP the sale, LOL! Ya just can't make this stuff up!🤣

      Interesting. 1) Is this in regards to cats? 2) Did you prevent the pet from entering the room you were in? He could only stay for 5 minutes before he would have to leave the home coughing and sneezing profusely. So, I told her to keep the cat out of the familyroom so the dander doesn't get on the couch/seats, etc. and run the Austin Air Healthmate unit and she said it all worked great and her father was able to visit without any problems after that.

      @AirPurificationEducation 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You need a lot of carbon for the marijuana odors: 1) The best - semi-inexpensive option would be an Airpura V400 with 8 lbs. of carbon... It will bang it out + it is VERY good for particles, and allergens, as well. Coupon Code DZAIR10 gives you 10% off on their website: www.airpura.com/products/v400-vocs-and-chemicals-good-for-wildfires-air-purifier?_pos=1&_sid=46531f85b&_ss=r 2) You may possibly be able to get away with a Coway 400 on sale now for $349. A lot less carbon than the V400 but may help depending on how much marijuana odors are present and how often you must deal with them. You will have to buy replacement filters probably every 6 months at the least. So, the additional cost of replacement filters will grow over time. 3) TruSens Z3000 is having a massive sale right now - 60% off... their units do NOT have nearly enough carbon for your needs but you can buy additional carbon filter options that may help some but you will have to change them out every couple of months 3 months max.... and the cost of replacement carbon will accumulate over time... www.trusens.com/c/air-purifiers/?gad_source=1&srt=relevance Please let me know what you eventually go with and how well it works for you - as I value real world feedback - Thanks!👍
