Episode 147 - “I can't get past €10k/month Freelancing…” + what to do about it
Solving $100k→$200k/yr Freelancer Bottlenecks, With Zach Swinehart & Delia Monk
Full show notes at : dyf.link/episode147
In this episode, Zach talks with copywriter Delia Monk about some of the “bottlenecks” she’s been running into as she tries to scale from a low-six-figure soloist to a small agency.
Delia has great stats about the efficacy of her skills, including…
☑️ Getting a client’s sales page from 3% → 12% application rate (a.k.a. 4x’ing it)
☑️ Doubling open rates for her long-term retainer client who has her work on emails
…But she feels she’s maxed out her rates and that delegating work is eating so much into her margins that it’s not worth it.
In this episode she and Zach explore this and uncover opportunities to keep moving forward and address this bottleneck.
If you’re in a similar position to Delia, where you’re having trouble breaking through the mid-100k-bottleneck, you’ll probably REALLY enjoy $200k Freelancer:

Thanks so much!! Glad you enjoyed it :)
We use apollo (new to your teaching) and have had good lucky. what does Snov do differently that makes it worth the purchase?
Hey, nice to meet you. :) The logic of Snov vs. apollo for emails is that Snov has a much better and more thorough quality process for email addresses. If you're enjoying apollo as your leads DB, you could test this by using an email checker tool (to check for bounces, etc) on a sample of ~100 domains from apollo, and then grab emails for those domains from snov and compare. The cold outreach pro, Thomas, whom I've worked with and partnered on the course was quite adamant about not using emails straight out of apollo due to data quality issues. Something like snov or hunter will help make sure your emails are going to the right people. (But you could always split test a campaign where you send half to apollo emails and half to snov emails and let us all know how your reply rates differ :) )
This episode is FIRE
Quick Q: are you partial to Instantly over Snov for running the campaigns? pretty sure Snov can do that too, might be easier to consolidate tools? haven't run these yet myself so just curious
Thanks brudder <3
@@kiaorioncreative I know Thomas prefers Instantly, but Snov's been doing a lot of feature development, so if it's good it's good. When you go through 200kf, I'll have a checklist of like, "Your email sending tool needs to do all of these things" so if Snov ticks all the boxes, it's fine by me. (A different student was asking me about using her pre-existing ECRM as well)
So many gems in this one 🙏

Hello sir are you looking for a professionals TH-cam thumbnail designer and video SEO expert?
Anybody know how much the academy costs?
If you're reffering to DYF, please visit our website at doubleyourfreelancing.com to learn more about our courses and pricing.
I hear what Cole is saying when he says to make it for yourself and get your own social proof. Cuz if you lack the skills to help clients convert (despite being a good writer), you're gonna be found out 10/10 times. BUT if a client simply doesn't have an EEC (but has a following or email list) or just has poor quality emails they're sending out, what you can create (even thought it's untested for conversions) COULD STILL get them significantly better results. Or maybe you just test out charging vs not charging with VOLUME and recording Loom videos for dozens of people.
What I personally prefer if you don't have a portfolio yet or client results is doing something performance-based, where you get paid well if your work kicks ass, and get paid in experience if it doesn't ;)
If someone's got a 'sign up to my newsletter' on the bottom of their website, would it be better to create a separate landing page just for the newsletter opt-in?
how would you create the package exactly? any specific tools or just a pdf/word document works?

So true about the 80/20 part of finishing projects lol...after the initial interest wanes..completing the project becomes a chore....constantly fighting against it. Story of my life 🤷.

Hey. Looking forward to this series. Can you share her Instagram.
@maiaben :)
Wow, I can so relate to this. Having hyper focus and attention challenges is tough as a freelancer. I’ve learned that I follow a cycle and it eventually works. I fall behind on the thing, then hyperfocus kicks in, and I eventually surpass what I thought I’d accomplish. Lots of great takeaways in this video! I especially liked your hint to put some strategy into the fun. Good stuff!
It works okay, but I'd challenge you to find ways to get ahead of the procrastination loop - have you tried things like focusmate or accountability buddies or live coworking, etc? Something where you're not always brushing right up against a project deadline (that's what most of us ADHDers end up doing, is always waiting til the last minute before something's due 😂- the systems above can help artificially recreate that feeling)
@@doubleyourfreelancing I have heard of Focusmate but haven't tried it. I might have to give it a go! And yeah, brushing up against project deadlines creates urgency but also a ton of stress, second guessing your work, and the potential for dropping the ball. It's not a great way to work I'll admit. :)
Your video is very beautiful. I like it a lot. I have been trying to talk to you for a long time. I am waiting for your response. Please give me a chance to talk to you. I am a professional digital marketer and TH-cam marketing expert❤️
Hey Zach, where can I find the link to the email template you mentioned in the interview? Many thanks

Hey Zach! Thank you so much for this podcast. Delia is an amazing person and I learned a lot from her. Really appreciate that. Curious to know that........ Can you tell me the name of the plugin she discussed at 1:20:35 for rubbing and rewriting the website?
Yeah, isn't she great??? RE plugin, I usually just edit the code in chrome with the "inspect element" option since I'm a dev, so I haven't played with any plugins. BUT I did find this one chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/edit-anything/kgkhambjbahgejgoaefmekdchedkihln - If you search the chrome extension library for something like "edit website text," that's probably the best route here.
Is that a shure SM57? I am looking at it for 20 seconds...and it looks like mine 🤩 anyways, watching the content...

@@doubleyourfreelancing as a musician i love the setup 🔥 Anyways, amazing content! Im into week 3 of my outreach email campaign
watching right now, Email was solid value. Thanks
Just watched this after spending a ridiculous amount of time sending proposals on Upwork that will be ignored. Even with a job success score of 100, Upwork is a struggle. Also, who lands clients on Upwork for $50 per hour or more? I didn't think that was possible. If you're getting those rates, well done. I've been on Upwork for three years now and have never reached those levels as a designer.
Hey! I came across your channel today, so grateful for that. I have known Nicolas Cole for a long time because of his TH-cam. Thank you so much 🙏 Btw I subscribed to your 9 day e-course.🎉
Great to have you here! Keep in touch on the worksheets with the tweaks you make!
Thanks for having me!
Thanks, Nicolas. You're amazing.
And thanks for coming!
This was awesome. Thanks for the wisdom brother 🙏
Wonder interview. Read Cole’s newest book and reading his previous writing book.
Thanks, both of you. It's super helpful. I can't thank Nicolas enough; he's just amazing.
Riiiiight??? I just listened and re-experienced the interview today (we recorded it a couple months ago) and I got a bunch of new gems and ideas. Very information-dense, this one
@@doubleyourfreelancing Thank you Zach and Nicholas - very informative! Loved the idea of presenting a to-do list as a package. And I'm glad to find someone else who says 'you're not selling a service you'd selling an outcome.' I say this to b2b clients all the time and sometimes they're shocked to hear it.
Cool videos Zach - pure reality: these three: skill mastering | working as an employee | freelancing have to be balanced and the transitions well timed.
Nice. Thanks, man.

Very well said, thank youvery much! You should definitely deserve more subscribers, as your content has really high value. I have two clients I have been work with for about 6-9 years and realised I haven't rised the rates since the beginning, for one client I am on 20$ and second 30$. I was too bussy with day-to-day work to realise I am underpayd. Do you think I should go rather for small 30% increase or go straight with some high number?
@@doubleyourfreelancing Hey thanks for the reply, in the meantime I just raised rates to 30$ with no objections as I am really bringing value for them and I also received positive feedback on my work. :) Yeah I took your 9 lessons e-mail course and I also printed all of them so I have a handy booklet to read anytime :) Anyway I really enjoyed it and would like to sign up for the "Double Your Freelancing Rate" course!
