What’s the details of your build? If it’s backfiring out of the exhaust it sound like your timing is retarded to far. You may check the rotor as I have seen those wear out and start spinning on the shaft it sits on.

There are several write ups on hill climb modifications for them. The biggest fix for that is inside the carb just above the main jets is 2 holes. Those go to brass fittings in the throat of the carb. Plugging those holes should prevent it as long as the carb has the proper jets for the engine.

@@zuksofhazard seen something about that once. I had one Webber's on a dodge d50 4x4. Years ago 1998 maybe 97. Ran good on road didn't take it off road much got rid of it. While getting was good.

@@zuksofhazard i got the toy 3k and kit from national. It was ok it set bit. And now leaking everywhere probably not 50 miles on it since bought.

Only buy the 3k kit from certified machine. Gary checks all the carbs before they get sent out. 3k’s aren’t bad but they won’t be putting much of a smile on your face compared to the CV or Weber. They lack power and throttle response by comparison isn’t that good. It’s just a good cheap option to go with.

The only trick to installing this into any vehicle is removing the upper water pipe. I did not think it needed a video but I can 100% make one if you and others would like to see it.

That’s all going to depend on what type of turbo setup you are running and the fuel you are using.

I would suggest looking at your clutch and clutch cable then. It’s the only part of the drive train that connects the engine to everything else. If parked with the transmission and transfer case in gear, engine looks good. Can only be something with the clutch. Are the dedent balls the same size?

Check you tension on your clutch cable. Do you know how old you clutch is?

Each engine is different. Try 45 idles and 125 mains then go from there

First you do a compression test and then you do a leak down test. Make sure that’s actually the problem first.

Engine doesn’t have enough compression to hold it any more.

@daverepole9283 when you park a manual transmission vehicle and leave it in gear. The friction from the drive train and compression of the engine are what keep it from rolling. That’s why you can roll start a manual transmission. So each inch it is rolling is because the engine is slowly turning.

Better air filter than the one from the 80’s and run a pre filter. Even turning the inlet for the snorkel backward so it’s not scooping the dust will help.

Oem style airbox with high quality paper filter, outerwears makes covers for filters to help block sand and dust as well. Also relocating airbox intake duct to different positions. In desert racing sometimes they use dust seperators, they swirl the air before the filter and the dust and sand flows to the outer walls of the seperator, keeping filters unclogged longer. I will never use a k&n style filter, i have seen them let sand in. Uni oiled foam filters are good for extreme offroad/dusty use.

Yes, engine has better rods and some studs. Other than that internals are stock.

Size wise the collars are usually the same but some tend to have different offsets. I haven’t taken apart a transmission behind a Q16.

It absolutely can! The teeth on the collars and on the gears can get chewed up and rounded making it very difficult to engage the gear.

If the shifter level for the T case is vibrating when driving then I would imagine it is related to your shifter sheet or spring for locking the shifter in place.

@daverepole9283 if the case is not having issues and you don’t feel play on the input or output shafts then I’m pretty sure it’s going to be related to what locks the handle in place. The spring and seat are the only things securing that handle in place.
