      @@markcolaneri3185 10ft 8wt Rod, 8wt Reel, WF8F Steelhead fly line, 20lbs Maxima 3’ Butt section nail knot to Fly Line, double surgeons 1.5’ Cortland Sighter 14lbs, double surgeons Mid Section 12lbs 5’ Flourocarbon, attach Tippet Ring, This is my 10ft nymphing leader at tippet of choice, Gamakatsu hooks, as little shot I can use.     Me and some buddies go up there early November, lodge is closed by then but you can still get a goat trail there, my boots were getting froze to those rocks on the shore, good times. Can’t wait for this year, been running spinning reel and thinking of getting into fly fishing this time around

      @@lukef2945 Thanks I lose my fair share as well. What I think helps is setting the hook down stream, not pulling the hook from the fish. Also they surface roll or jump then burst after hooking and this is not the time to put it to them by any means, feather them back down and the fight is on. Tight Lines 🤙🏼

    Are the gloves you’re wearing just latex or nitrile gloves? Do they provide much warmth, or are they mainly to keep your fingers dry in the cold water?

      @@kinahawi Nitrile. They do not provide much warmth but dry hands are warm hands. Under fingerless wool gloves I still have feel of the fly line without my hand actually getting wet.

    I’m going to have to pick up the TFO NTR reel man, love how it has a silent retrieve. My Orvis Clearwater’s drag is giving out on me after a few years. I also had no idea the finger lakes had such big rainbows!

      Yea I have multiple NTRs put to the test now zero complaints. Yea it may not always be the case but when the big girls are in there it can be a fun time 😎

      @@ReelLifeFishing607 Thats good to hear! Love how it looks too. Do you happen to use the TFO LK Legacy 10' 8wt for your steelhead fishing or is it a different 10' 8wt? If so do you think the NTR balances out the rod well? I've been thinking about picking that rod up for that extra 1 foot. Sorry I don't mean to be stealing your setup lol

      @@SouthMend The rod in this video is a 9’6” 6wt LK Legacy and 5/6 NTR Reel. They balance great I can fish that set up all day no problem!

    I was told you cant be walking on the archers run side after the middle of november or having a fire.? Unless you get special permission from the hunting club.? They close that parking lot the 12th of november i think?. Good luck out there man!! Be safe!

    Good deal man! I got my biggest brown trout of my life at "home base" in november! Big dark male hook jaw! 32" inch and weighed 15lbs. Might be getting a reproduction mount of it soon. Fish on!!

      I tight line nymph on a 10ft 8wt, 11ft leader w/ sighter indicator, as little weight as I can get away with, 8-6lbs tippet, running egg type flys, beads, and sacs. The Fly really is the only way to go for this technique. I hope this answers anyone’s questions. Appreciate it thanks for watching!

    Steelhead run along the stream/river edges when the water is high. Might be why you spooked one near that log.

      Yes for sure!! The trees above and slope behind did not allow me to get a cast in there! Structure creating pockets of soft water in a fast river are always prime spots!!

    Nice size steelies. Used to catch lots of monsters 10 to 16 lbs there and all over ontario tribs. Fish are getting smaller and much fewer every year nowadays. Not exactly sure why. It's a shame. Good luck in the future.

      It’s because people Keep so many every year fish it’s like that everywhere I can’t count how many times iv seen tons of fish killed in a day my saying is they can’t grow to be trophies if there killed if everyone was a sport fisherman then we would be hooking wall hangers the fishing community has grown so much now you can’t even go out on a Monday to catch a break I guess no one works anymore 😂

    What’s typically lb test you are using in Keuka? Are these fish sensitive to line in Keuka with the clear water clarity or do you need to drop down to thin line 8lb test?

      10-12# Flourocarbon is what I typically run for jerkbaits and crankbaits. And the spawn can vary but expect them to be pushing up and bedding mid may - June. Expect a killer one coming from the other day!! Thanks for watching!!

    How you managed to land that fish after getting wrapped around the log is beyond me. That is usually the kiss of death. One bit of slack and they’re gone. What fly were you using?

      I was able to keep the line tight while holding that fish from going deeper in the Log jam and fed my rod under the log he passed under. Then the fight was back on!! Was using beads, egg sacs & egg imitations!! Thanks for watching be sure to Like and Sub!! More coming!!

      I thought all finger lakes tributaries are still closed untill April 1st. I know inland trout is catch and release now but finger lakes tribs are still old regulations ..just don't want to see you get in trouble bud..great videos though..good job 👍
