I get it, but each company has their criteria. If I had a penny for every time I hear that a PSA 10 is off centered and should be a 9, I'd probably have Nat Turner money. BGS really is the only place where a Pristine or Black Label hold some weight in terms of perceived accuracy as those really require extensive magnification to even find flaws if any. But, no one wants to use BGS because you can sacrifice 1 of 4 criteria and still get a "gem mint" card that holds 50% of the value a PSA 10 does. CSG stopped grading "tough" because everyone was complaining about getting 9's. HGA in the starting stages was actually pretty good. Then folks complained about how they mirror Beckett in terms of only giving 9.5's with a 9. TAG gives out Gem Mint cards to old chrome that have greening because their "state of the art" photo box can't detect greening as an actual surface flaw as no light reflects unless there's an imbalance on the surface. The system also can't seem to tell the difference between a scratch or a print line, or a pit vs. stain. So, we really are picking our own poison haha.

Oh totally, but if you take the emotion and biased out of it and just look at the grading criteria. There's really not anything to be disappointed about. Even the title says that Frosty sent these over to SGC because of certain flaws that wouldn't do well within PSA guidelines. It's actually great.

@@LilPennyH Geming a card with a bad corner is not great IMO. In the end, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

@@JChamberlin I understand what you're saying. I'm saying that, that's just how SGC grades based on their criteria. It took me a long time to accept it, but I've seen enough of Frosty's videos with data points to be fine with it. It's great in terms of, it's helped me look deeper into each companies grading criteria, so based on what flaws I identify on my cards. I know where to send them for the best grades. I can't change the guidelines and neither can you, so no need to complain about it.

Thanks man! Yeah, the criteria is different for sure and it's a great alternative for cards that have minor corner wear, slight edge issues, minor indentations and minimal surface issues. My data also shows that PSA is where you send the SGC 9's with great corners, great edges, great surface and terrible centering haha. I appreciate you man!

@rhq5461 Not a tougher grade, just different criteria. There's plenty of videos of myself with SGC 9, CSG 9, BGS 8.5, HGA 9, GMA 10, BCCG 10, etc. cards getting PSA 10s and explaining why + vice versa. It's really about understanding the nuances of each company as the majority don't appear to grasp that it's not a universal standard across the board. I also don't think any of these companies rank on top of one another outside of resale value.

This must be your first visit to Frosty's channel. I don't think he has a high opinion on any one of these grading companies which is great. It's all data based information which has helped me a ton in terms of deciding where to send my cards based on what I want from them. He's done plenty of low grade crossover videos from various companies over to PSA for gems.

@RuffBuff716 That's a great question. Of course my response will just be based off my opinion. SGC still has its base of customers and in fact, if we take away TCG cards we can see that between PSA and SGC, they basically are the market. Secondly, the value SGC has never truly been there but that is a consumer thing. They are also continuing to operate as their own entity which I think is great as their grading guidelines differ and gives the consumer options. There's also zero chance in my opinion they'll sell SGC. It'd be like Google deciding to give Yahoo money just so they can try. SGC has enough business to where it's not a liability and adds to profitability. As far values go for cards. PSA is staying at the top mainly because of the people. There's too much money invested from consumers into grading and reselling with them to change that. SGC is imo 2nd. Then there is BGS and CGC. Outside of that, HGA, TAG, AGS, RCG, Arena Club, GMA, DGS etc. are just here for a slice of the pie. I say that mainly because I look at the types of cards being put in those slabs. It's 99% cards nobody wants including the owners of them.

Totally agree. If these cards were sent to PSA by owner first they aren't worth the bump for a 9.5. I do believe these were all picked up already slabbed so that route does present some upside. Always appreciate you watching and insights Tim.

@@frostyfeetcards That totally makes sense since 9's and below you can even buy for raw or less than raw and you already know you already have at least a mint card. I might pick up some bulk 9's at the next show and try something like this. 9's at shows have a lot of wiggle room when you bargain.

Agreed! If these are raw like both you and Frosty said, then graded 2x it's not monetarily ideal. But I do see a huge opportunity to pick up cards slabbed 9 already and try this. Like I could probably pick up a PSA 9 Optic Mahomes rookie base in the mid or low $400's or less haggling at shows and if it bumps to a SGC 9.5 they seem to go for around High 5's low 6's and in the case of a 10 it's like mid 7's. That part can be interesting I think.

@thehighvibe5528 Well, that's your opinion and you're entitled to that. I've ran my own experiments on TAG and have a different opinion. We can agree to disagree.

Because while TAG uses AI, it's still programmed by humans!!

TAG is not anywhere close to perfect. I feel like if you're not in the technology occupation that you get sold easily on the term A.I. They aren't created equal and on top of that, TAG doesn't use AI. They use an old technology called photometric stereoscopic imaging that was developed in the 80s and you can look into the accuracy of that yourself via Google. They are great at marketing and that's about it. The slabs are clear but cheap and if you watched Frosty's TAG video from I don't know how long ago, there's definitely funny biz.

@NobodyUR That's really not true though I will say that surprise 6's you'd want to recheck the edges or even oddly the middle surface of cards for damage that wasn't present prior to sending things off. It's a small percentage but PSA does in fact damage cards without ever telling you.

@@frostyfeetcards lol it was an over exaggeration for effect but the basic statement is very much accurate based on numerous results people have gotten. If they were as detailed as your assessments they would be more reliable.

Actually if you read the comments it's the opposite of painful. I tried the freezer and I don't want to move my chicken nuggets every time I want to crack a slab, plus that thing shatters everywhere after. This was 10x easier and my cards come out safe, I don't have plastic shards flying everywhere and it saves time. Your comment is painful.

I'm also not asking anyone to do anything, Just showing how I do something that is effective for me. So not sure why you felt the need to tell me how to crack my own slabs.

@@frostyfeetcards it's all good man it's vintage kind of is what it is plus it's PC anyway. The only thing I grade that is PC this things I think may have to buy you years down the line that eventually my kids will inherit

Well the problem really is at the root. Most people don't look at their cards in depth enough. All the grading companies have the same issues as it's all subjective and based on an individuals opinion and company grading criteria. If we look at the cards unbiasedly, it would yield the results that are just. All grading is inconsistent, PSA just so happens to be the company that grades the most cards due to high resale values so they get the grunt of the negativity.

And what data do you have that shows this? Or are you just upset you didn't get 10's on cards you felt should be 10's? Because all the points you made appear to be completely emotional.
