Moonsorrow - Live In Nosturi, Finland 1/27/2007 (AUDIO ONLY, COMPLETE)
This gig is a rare occasion of Henri Sorvali performing with Moonsorrow after 2006, as he chose to not tour anymore and Janne Perttilä was recruited as a live guitarist, while Henri works in the studio. Personally, I don’t want to shit on Janne, but Trollhorn’s presence gives the performance an extraordinarily fantastic and whole vibe.
The band gives their all and Ville is in an extremely good mood, talking shit with the audience every now and then during and between the songs.
I think this show might be very well the best ever vocal performance of Ville Sorvali, in stark contrast to the disaster at Heathen Crusade 2006, where he’s wheezing and groaning through all songs. He sings most of Kylän Päässä rather conservatively, but then appears to gain a huge boost of confidence, as he occasionally oversings most of the songs (much of the high notes are similar to Axl Rose in his prime) and pulls off a semi-clean Verisäkeet tone in spots through the whole show.
Before the third song, he talks about Viides Luku - Hävitetty being released and the band launches into a relatively short (18 minutes) performance of Tuleen Ajettu Maa.
Marko Tarvonen is also doing an unusually fantastic job behind the drum kit. At 43:05, he briefly changes his drumming pattern during Pakanajuhla.
Though I can understand and speak almost no Finnish, I figured out that Ville dedicates Sankaritarina to the audience and wishes them to sing along.
Before the second-to-last song, after the last notes of Tyven from tape, Marko does four cymbal hits and Ville screams from the top of his lungs “SANKARIHAUTA!!!”, making it one of the best introductions to a song. It’s fairly unusual to see the combination of those two tracks in the encore (it happened during Verisäkeet Alive 2020 tour as well) instead of the usual opener spot.
It’s probably the only time before 2013 where Ville lets out the hoarse screams (like in the studio version) during the first 2 minutes of Sankarihauta.
Markus Euren isn’t being left out either, as he does stuff with his keyboards that are eargasmic and goosebump-inducing at the absolute worst - Kivenkantaja and the encores are the prime examples.
In my opinion it’s one of their best shows due to fantastic atmosphere, the band doing an out of the ordinary job and excellent setlist. The only downside of the show is the omission of Raunioilla. Trollhorn was a very rare sight even then, so he could have a moment of being in the centre of attention with his co-lead vocals.
It's an audience recording in a great quality and so far, it's the only recording where I have heard any attendees singing along. And thankfully it appears to be complete.

Filmed in July 11, 2003, this is the earliest circulating live recording of Moonsorrow, as no footage has surfaced of 2000-2002 gigs (save for most of Sankarihauta in late 2001 with studio audio overdubs). Odd how his voice has good and bad periods on different songs. Performed this incredibly difficult song way better in 2023 than 2017, can’t sing Jungle the same though

Like all the chinese dem or rerecorded ones, the old versions like this sound better before the songs got over done and mutilated. The verses here with the bass and keyboards sound much better then the copy and pasted bumblefoot blues chugs from chinese democracy
This is perfect, just add a couple of solos and electronica from the 2008 and its perfect.
I feel that the 2008 version is all the version of the song slapped toghther, since you can hear many voices of axl.
The more I hear these old CD demos the more I dislike the final album. They really over produced it to shit and a big part of that was by muddling everything together like you said

Past the demo stage, which was largely done with Youth, this was a rough mix from around 1999.
Best version. Keeps the 1999 beat, redone by Brain, has the extended solo and still features, loud, those groovy pianos on the verses. Plus it misses the dumb drums on the brilliant guitar intro, the double Axl voice and Bumblefoot's dumbass fretless on the verses. 10/10
W-t-f is this crap? Nothing beats the original. 01.45-02.14 from the original is superb.

I’d love a remaster or remix with the current lineup. He ain’t gonna be able to hit those notes & sing as well, so maybe just let the band edit and remix the album with Axl’s old vocal recordings. Call it Chinese Demogracy Remixed & Remastered feat Slash, Duff, Fontus. I don’t mention Ferrer because I believe he was the drummer for the album when it was released

The earliest demo that was available was from or around 2006, which more closely resembled the final product. Then there were slight variations. Years and years later these other demos from the 90's came out on the internet.

Well said. Tactful. But, so what if a singing star like Axl ages? Everybody else is allowed to age, graciously or otherwise. So why does society deprive musical performers the right to age, just like their fans do? How discriminating, how unfair is that?!?But it'rife in performing arts industry and sport, too. Anybody would think there are no mature aged fans needing their mature aged idols. The sweet young creatures on a stage might sometimes look bearable enough to have to look at, as audience but we get so bored with them. Mainly because they look and sound boring or downright ugly, offensive. Or they lack any semblance of musical talent, craft, skill? I like to tell it as it really is.
