Prison Voicemail: How It Works
Prison Voicemail is an award-winning service helping families to maintain stronger ties with a loved-one in prison.
The service, which launched in 2015, is used across England, Wales, Scotland, and in Australia.
Prison Voicemail enables approved family members to leave voicemails for a prisoner, which the prisoner accesses by calling their unique voicemail phone number from any phone within the prison. Once they’ve heard the waiting voicemails, they can leave a reply. The family member is alerted and can either join the call via the Prison Voicemail app, or listen to the reply later.
This solves timing issues in situations where family members work shifts or children are at school, and has conveyed moments including a child’s music recital, antenatal scans, births, countless bedtime stories from fathers and mothers, and other moments which help the prisoner to stay connected with everyday life on the outside.

FANTASTIC CAN BE A DIFFICULT TIME FOR FAMILY ON THE OUTSIDE
This is a brilliant idea but Im wondering why the submission on here is sexist....there are also women prisoners, same sex couples etc. It comes across too much like women on outside and men inside which doesn't represent a fair view.
+Stella Sandles Hi Stella, thank you for your comment. We agree and would like to make a video that represents everyone! This was our first video to launch in our first prison, which just so happened to be a men's prison, so we decided to go with the most common situation, although we're aware that for many it might be their parent, friend, or sibling using our service. It's not perfect but helps people to understand the service quickly. We will try to think of a video script that's more inclusive. Thanks for your feedback :)
