Raising baby Blue Jays | Week 3
Last video in this mini-series. It was a really neat experience being able to take care of baby blue jays and raise them! They grow so much every day. I will miss them so much, but I'm glad I made these videos to look back on. :)

Taking care of baby Blue Jays | Week 1 | Raising baby birds
มุมมอง 40K4 ปีที่แล้ว
This was week 1 of taking care of our baby blue jays. They grow incredibly fast and are really cute to watch haha. They do take quite a bit of our time to take care of, but it's worth it for the time we get with them. I love how you helped these birds. ❤ Thank you for doing so. 🙏
Amazing and beautiful birds. I have two bluejays visiting my backyard. I feed them peanuts. They are smart little creatures. They have been coming to my backyard for over 5 years. Unfortunately, two of their chicks did not survive when they nested in a bougainville near my kitchen. I saw them many times but too many cats around and these chicks were feeding from the ground too much. Hence, this is why I have scared the cats that frequent my bird feeder by wetting with them with a hose so that they do not come back. It worked. But sometimes I fear the worse because these jays sometimes visit after two weeks. They already know when to come to my backyard on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Really worried about that razor sharp pointed tweezer. Couldn't you find any blunt tweezers to feed them with?
Thank you for loving and caring for these little sweeties ☺️🕊️
What do they like to eat?
I love Blue Jays They Are Adorable 💙💙💙💙
I love Blue Jays They Are Adorable 🎉❤
Wow, the algo just picked this up. What happened to these wonderful birds?
Hi, I also raise a blue jay since baby. I see your video is 4 years old. Did you or you family ever see them again?
04:45 What the heck is the animal in the background?
I came across one on the ground one day but the parents were near-by
Bluejays are my favourite birds, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your journey raising these two precious birdies. ❤🙂
What do we do about a baby scrub jay who we found in our back yard on the ground but mom and dad are still around? The baby bird is on the ground and stays in one certain area near our deck stairs. Every time we go outside to check on the baby bird mom & dad yell at us from the top of our deck and tree branches that are close but the baby bird stays on the ground in the same area. Even though we never see the mom & dad feeding the bird, Is mom and dad for sure flying down to the ground to the baby and feeding him/her?
Do they poo everywhere in the house or make mess just curious to know ????
Thank You so much for posting and God Bless You and your family. I wish you much success and happiness as you go back to school to pursue your dreams.
I’m currently feeding a poor baby blue jay, I’ve got him set up in my bathroom because it’s warm in there. I think he’s a bit younger than these guys. I’m hoping he can grow strong enough to be free but still come back to visit me❤
How long until they fly off?
I love that I'm getting a lot of blue jay related videos recommended to me.
What do u feed baby blue Jay's with no feathers?
Saw the three videos and now I feel happy and good, so Thank you for posting and may God bless you always.
You were feeding them wet dog feed but what are you feeding them now?
My two blue jay bird died even the parents keep them feeding everyday. we make a bigger cage and we keep open the entrance door for the parents to enter. The chicks its about 3 weeks old. the bigger one is the first to die and after a week the second one die too. what do you think is the main reason? is the parents can provide water to them to drink? but they are look healthy.
You can use dog food or or cat food. Soak in water and express some of the water out with a napkin so they accidentally inhale it to the lungs. No need to give them water through the dropper. The water in the moistened food is be enough.
Have you tried meal worms or crickets. You can get both at pet supply store.
Even the. Med cabinet
I think everything's adorable lol
Thanks for let people known how to take care of blue jays when there is not near a wild animal rehabilitation center.
mine died in my hand today
Name of food please
They love cat food. Let it soak but be careful to not feed it dripping wet.
It looks like you have done a great job raising these babies. However, I have heard you ARE NOT supposed to hand feed them water as they can aspirate and cause them to get pneumonia. They will get the water they need from the moistened foods. 😊
Just wondering if you are dealing with pooping in those areas harder for you to reach, ie fan and top window? I have just rescued one that looks to be the age of your younger one. Crows were pecking him in the road. He was not lifting his head. Has a small open area on his back from Crow peck I believe, and one leg not working so well. I am hoping he will heal. I have a call into a rehab but no word yet. I am feeding my dog's food "Farmers Dog" as it is likely close to what you are feeding. I am also doing some worms and bugs. Hope your guys are still doing well
💙💖💙
Same situation here. Thanks for the tips !
Thank you for this video. I found a baby blue jay that fell from his nest and i didnt know what to do. Your video taught me how to care for him. Im grateful for this video.
I have had two blue birds that keep trying to make a nest in my mailbox so I moved the nest to one of my bird houses and the parents never came. They also had three eggs in their nest that i moved and one broke. I now have two blue bird eggs in my house in a box with a washcloth around them that mimics a nest and a retile heating lamp above them. What should I do to help them grow better when they hatch?
So did you feed them the chicken and rice, with dog food and yolks the whole time?
Also, what did you do to teach them to fly and how are they doing now? Or what happened. I have one I am taking care of now.
Country found a baby bluejay we now hv to raise him of course 😂😂😂😂😂😂
What happened to the third smaller one did he make it?
We have a little one, too. I'm getting the baby food, meal worms and crickets in the morning. I put a heating pad on low under his cage padding. I'm praying a lot. He has half baby and half adult fathers. I can't wait for hungry peeps!😊❤
I had a blue jay that looked like that and I named it angel but he passed away😢❤
I'm looking at two rn they have some feathers but they can not fly yet
Hi I'm new to your channel I wanted to ask what kind of dog food do you give them? and thank you
good job, they look great.
These little guys will stick around forever in my experience. We had one thwt landed on our shoulder begging for food long after it reached adulthood lol
How nice that a wild bird would continue friendship with a human ❤
You are a sweet young lady. I hope much success with raising the little one's perhapps the littlest one will live. You may have to keep it in captivity because of it's injuries. It is posible to keep bluejays in captivity they live a long time. 29 years. But rare in the wild. Interestingly there feathers do not have a blue pigment they absorb all light and reflect only the blue various colors. Bluesjay are in the corvid family of birds crows magpies Ravens and such around the world they're about as smart as 7-year-old human beings. Take care. Dwight.
For anyone who does not know, DO NOT immediately pick up a baby bird if you see one. First, try to determine which stage it is at. Many fledgling birds spend time hopping around the ground before it's time for them to fly. It's natural and you should not touch them. The parents are watching and will take care of them. If there are predators around (like cats) you can try moving them to a safer place nearby like a bush, just don't go so far away that the parents might not be able to find them. If the babies have little to no feathers, they definitely aren't meant to be on the ground and you should look for their nest (it will probably be in a nearby tree or shrub) and place them back in it. Very rarely do you need to take baby birds inside and care for them yourself. I don't think the maker of this video did anything wrong, but I do want to raise awareness for other people watching that our good intentions aren't necessarily what's right for the bird. Bottom line, before you decide to impulsively adopt a baby bird, do some research and make sure you aren't accidentally interfering with nature in a harmful way.
I found a baby or adolescent blue jay in the road. I assumed it fell from the trees above as it was lying in the parking lot on its side waiting to get runover. It looked like it was dead but when I walked up to it, it hopped up and i could see its leg was bleeding. i helped it hop a curb and going into a bush. Hours later, the sprinkler system in that bush activated so I went back and found that same bird back in the lot lying down with its head in a puddle of blood. In the few hours since I had last seen it, it got something lodged into its eye and was just waiting for dead so I packed him up and took him home. I wanted to get him to a rehabber but weekend hours are god awful and they're not open on Mondays. Almost 3 days with this bird now and I'm not sure if it'll ever be good to go on its own. I could bring it back to where I found it and hope for the best but now I want it to at least get its eye checked out. I know the eye still functions. I also have blue jays in the yard but have no idea how they'd treat a stranger's bird but also, I have cats.
@@alexandermccalla5098 Poor little guy! I'm glad you were there (this IS an instance where you should probably get involved and contact a wildlife rehab center). I would care for the bird (keeping it far away from the cats) until you can get it to a proper wildlife rehab center. Whether or not it can be released into the wild should be their call. Good luck, I hope it all turns out well!
You did an awesome job taking care of those baby Blue Jays!😊
It must have been so hard to leave them for college. Precious babies.
Thank you for sharing. ♥️
Amazingly cute it looks like a lot of fun😊
