    I'm going to use some flexible dryer duct and put it around an extended exhaust (I already have both) and run a small DC fan at the bottom of the heater where the exhaust starts and split it off before it goes outside. I should be able to nearly double my heat output from 1 heater depending on the CFM of the fan. Easy and cheap way to increase output.

    maybe a company could make a modern type of heater the main unit simply plugs into, and the exhaust outlet is the same as the main unit..something less bulky than the cast iron ones..

    The condensate from combustion is likely to freeze in the outlet from the radiator as it passes out side. At that point your foil tape will fail. Not long after your going to be incredibly sleepy perhaps the longest sleep

    Its too bad the exit of the radiator is not on the bottom right. Then the hot gases would be flowing all the way through the unit instead of only heating the one side.

    Coiling some extra exhaust pipe through a steel tank filled with sand works better. Sand retains and slowly releases that stored heat and unlike water, there's basically no heat limit with it. Search for "sand battery". 👍

    I like your innovation, but that’s dangerous and going to be hard on that heater. You never want to push exhaust down, always up. That cast iron radiator will likely also plug up after not long.

    Good job man, however I see one problem ! Your chain tension pocket is on the tension side , which is wrong , this will cause you problems ! it must be on the slack side . I would like to build one of these .

  • @MartinEZimmerman
    @MartinEZimmerman หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nope! I just snake longer ribbed (like fins) stainless exhaust tubing sideways downslope (prevents accumulating condensation) to get more surface area to PASSIVELY recover more exhaust heat. These heaters run too rich, you have to get plateau mode heaters and manually lean out mixture. If your heater old enough same adjustments. Some new ones can't be adjusted. SUCKS.

    My diesel heater after twenty odd hours was so clogged up with a soot/carbon deposit which it got running on a low heat for that long . , so I can only imagine how much of a build up your diesel heater has and you haven't serviced yours for over two years and then you add more problems to servicing by installing more restrictive modifications that you will have difficulty cleaning and of cause that is, IF!! you ever clean or maintain your heater unless your using some magic diesel fuel it will cause soot and carbon build up running at higher temps just as it would at lower temps so Yes the idea is good but the consequences are as I said and you could have used either steel or copper tubing to radiate heat faster and possibly use it for heating water as a side benefit. Cleaning wouldn't be as big a nightmare as the monstrosity you have there which you obviously didn't consider unless you don't like the idea of cleaning and maintaining your heater. Good Luck Mate!!

      after searching around for reasons there was so much soot and carbon build up in such a short time I found that low grade crap diesel from the fuel station is to blame and why is it coloured bright green?? • @dayleedwards3521
    @dayleedwards3521 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That is not a 200 percent efficiency at all. The exhaust gas can only heat a small section of your radiator, the bottom remains cold, indicating the hot exhaust gas flow is small. Yes, you are recovering a little more heat, but certainly not the amount you hoped for. To achieve a 100 percent increase over the 5 kW initial output would require another 5kW of exhaust heat, they do not waste this amount ever.
