This is my first solo ever! This is after about 8 months of playing the clarinet. This video is to show that talent means nothing without hard work. I have practiced basically everyday for almost 19 years. I feel that most people forget that we all start from somewhere. I remember having zero knowledge about music or playing the clarinet. I have worked extremely hard to arrive where I am now :)...

@@n.catherine9715 Music video means visuals. Fortunately, I know what you meant. But don't make excuses for poor work. Otherwise, they won't learn anything and get better. Nobody likes a shaky cam. Its also out of focus.
I was a Baylor music school clarinet major, got BM in 96! I remember this rehearsal space so fondly, well done yall! I studied under Dr. Shanley, and was a student alongside Jun Qian, good times :) This is the room my college barbershop quartet The Moonlighters would rehearse in, and we recorded a Christmas album right where yall are sitting.

@@jahanshahrestani7826 Hi! That's a good question! I recorded the excerpt as I would have played it in the orchestra. In the music, the first solo is played on clarinet in the key A (not to be confused with the basset clarinet in A, which plays even lower to a written low C), and the second solo is played on the standard clarinet in the key of B flat. If you don't have a clarinet in A, I would suggest learning both solos on B-flat clarinet! If you have to play this in orchestra, then you will already know the fingerings, you just have to worry about finding a clarinet in A! (speaking from experience).

@@eliasclarinetista I wish I could play the clarinet I could play the basset horn which is a member of the clarinet family that I wish to be able to play someday but I don’t have one unfortunately. Mozart loved the basset clarinet and the basset horn he had a friend named Anton Stadler whom was a clarinettist that also played the basset horn

You're absolutely right! I don't take credit for the arrangement, but I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it. I just had to play it for myself. I tried contacting the performer for the arrangement, but they didn't reply... Well, I decided to transcribe it myself! hehe. I didn't make any money from this performance, and I added a double bass line to avoid infringing on copyright laws. Glad you enjoyed it!
