    I can hear your mother heart wanting to school at home. Schooling at home can be super simple. My youngest of five wasn't schooled until grade two. I let him play with lego and be creative while I educated the older children. In grade three we started school with Eythan. By then end of the year he was caught up to his peers. We start children in education way too young when their brains need to be creative and they need lots of outdoor play.

    I'm a soon-to-be mom, and I'm trying to learn everything I can about different parenting styles. Thank you for laying out the basics of RIE parenting with examples! However, I'm uncertain about the point about people "objectifying" the baby if they want to touch or hold him. It seems to me that that's a natural instinct, and that it would help the baby learn interaction with lots of different people. Super early socialization, if you will. Lots of other animals pass their babies around, because the group takes care of the babies and looks after them, together. Isn't that natural? Also, that sometimes people DO touch you in social interactions, and it's not the end of the world. I'm obviously NOT talking about any kind of abusive touch here, but in the adult world, sometimes a new acquaintance will touch your arm when they're laughing, or go for a hug, and it's not their fault, and it would be MORE weird for you to say something about something so small. What about that? I'm not trying to poke you here, (no pun intended lol), just understand better.

    I’m not a parent nor am i married, but i’ve talked with my partner before about children and how many we want. My reasoning for wanting a minimum 4 year age gap is more so to be able to financially recover so that if and when they want to go to university i can support them equally

    I am pregnant with my first and am planning an unmedicated home birth. its never something I thought I would ever consider... I always just assumed i would opt for a hospital and as many free drugs as I could get... but actually, now, being pregnant and speaking with my midwives and my doula... I believe I can do it. I am afraid, but excited about it. Your story and others are so encouraging!

    Talking to your baby in a high voice isn't "clown" It's actually been noted throughout child psychology that raising your voice with a child helps their learning. It also wouldn't be creating a "false reality" as most people are generally excited when they see babies and young children and just naturally are more tender and expressive with them.

    • @themellowmama
      @themellowmama 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s the inauthenticity piece that I’m referring to. Addressing my children as if they can’t understand me if I were to use my real voice and speak about real things. Of course I’m aware of “motherese” and also speak in a sweet, potentially higher tone with my kids from time to time. You missed the point :(

I am so excited we decided to wait. Not only for my mental health, but for my older child as well. I was able to focus on just raising her for those 4 very very important years.❤

    11:23- great advice, my mother in law bless her heart. She was so excited but would ask me every 10 minutes, are the contractions getting stronger, do you think you’re progressing yet. This went on and on. I would recommend only yourself and your husband. It sounds great to make it a family affair until the reality of the situation takes place. Thank you for sharing! ❤

    I have a 13 month old and a 25 month old. In my experience, adding my youngest to the family was as smooth as can be, and at the moment people often mistake them as twins. They play together and look for each other when the other one is not around. My daughter (25 month old), took her brother with no jealousy at all. Maybe because she was so young when he was born- but she would go give him kisses, give him toys and was extremely nourishing and understanding of her baby brother despite the young age. So I’m not sure psychologically a close age gap is bad- quite the opposite in my experience. The two biggest drawbacks for me and hubby were sleep and finances (nursery prices in UK are astronomical even for one child, let alone two)- however we are slowly coming out of this phase. I do want to have a third one day though so it was interesting to hear the arguments for a longer age gap. Thanks for sharing! 😊

    Hi! I really enjoyed this video -- thank you for sharing such a vulnerable and beautiful birthing experience. I have a question: I understand baby needed some assistance in breathing. How did you provide that assistance? And why did you have to cut the umbilical cord sooner than you hoped? My understanding is that most babies will breathe immediately on their own upon birth, and sometimes not. Regardless, delayed cord clamping enables them to continue receiving oxygen from the placenta (should it still be attached to the uterus). If baby breathes immediately at birth (usually within ten seconds), the umbilical cord is still providing the baby oxygen and nutrients until that blood flow has stopped. Does this describe your experience?
