Your videos are so thorough and you have a very relaxing voice, this is the motorbike equivalent of a Bob Ross video ;)
Splendid video!
when u were at the end and were lowering the jack and the engine didnt come out what did u do to get it to fully come out?
mine lowers a little bit but i cant seem to get it to fully drop out
I believe I ended up taking the oil pan off and the pickup tube...
My air box has something that looks like a tube would connect to something, it’s on the front bottom of the air box. I originally thought it connected to that three tube connection off the valve cover
it is likely that what you are seeing is a drainage tube...
Hi sir….i followed since the 1st episode…you can’t imagine how your videos and advices were useful for me…a billion thanx🙏

So my girlfriend was helping me this weekend and happened to turn the valve assembly over, needless to say my cups and shims went everywhere. Found them all and quit for the night. Hope they are all the same!!
Dang that sucks dude. That’s gonna be a fun time measuring all the shims and trying to get the valve lash adjustment correct 😬
What year model is this patriot?
This was a 2015 High Altitude 2WD
Fantastic video buddy, saving this one for future work on my CBR600 F4I. Need to pull the water pump soon and this video will help for many future projects.
Glad it helped, thank you for watching!
The biggest problem i saw was the gasket sealer. When you tighten the pan the sealant gets inside with the fluid and can cause problems down the road. Overall, great video and thanks for showing me whay not to do. Im prone to these types of mistakes.

For anyone who also had a busted Fill tube: the Dorman 921-129 on Amazon was only $36. I just installed it, it wasn’t that hard, and it’s definitely worth doing. The reason they break is the top bracket is welded on the tube from the factory. The Dorman replacement is crimped around the tube with rubber in between, so it can be moved/rotated around the tube, thereby getting rid of the rigidity that causes the tube to break.
Hey, I noticed on your vacuum hose that you have the fuel pressure regulator one coming from the 5 way splitter. Mine comes from the 3 way splitter. The one from my 5 way splitter goes to the map sensor. I checked the manual and that is correct. So my question is.. does your bike run okay with it hooked up like that?
it ran fine up until I sold the bike. but you should always go with what the manual states! thanks for watching!
That is why I don't mess with the pan itself. I would either get a mess or ruined transmission.
If you ever saw a Nissan with a CVT it is the same since they used the same CVTs. Even that filter is the same. I found that changing that filter all by itself makes a huge difference in smoothness. My 2017 Rogue has the plug in the pan and it uses the same crush washer as the oil plug which I thought was really nice. If I had no plug on the pan I would get an extractor and run that down the dipstick tube. Just make sure that what you put in there is clean
I just did the filter(s) and fluid on a 2010 Rogue... I only pull the pan so I can replace the in-pan screen/filter
Thanks for this video. Haven’t worked on a Patriot before, this video helped tremendously
@@samk3444 thank you for watching and the comment!
I know this is 3 years later but if you leave the clutch plates in while you take out that center nut for the clutch basket it will loosen right up just put some pressure on the plates with your fingers and broom it comes right off
Hey! I've seen your videos before, and they seem super helpful to someone who owns an F4i (me!). I too have an F4i and was wondering if you could help me go about an issue I'm having. The previous owner lowsided the bike on the left side, the stator cover is busted, and it broke off one of the threaded "ears" that the bolt would go through(only on the bottom half of the crank case). It leaks bad from the stator cover, and I was wondering if it's possible to split the bottom half of the crankcase without having to tear apart the top end, as I don't want to fully rebuild the engine. I have an additional block, and was thinking that I could either get the ear aluminum welded and tapped, or replace the bottom crank case. What are your thoughts on how I should go about this?
I think you may find that doing it without pulling the engine will take more time than not... I always prefer to pull the engine for any type of case work at all -JPH
If the cv joint was accidentally removed and fluid was lost. How much fluid was actually lost just from removing one CV joint? 3-4 quarts, maybe? Thanks....
It’s annoying ain’t it aha I took mine off 4 different times no broken dipstick tho !
Mine was leaking at the filter as well but was a broken clip. Danged plastic junk! I may eventually try and eliminate all the plastic fuel line crap!
sorry to hear that :) thank you for watching!!
Great video one of the best in my opinion on describing and showing how to disassembling this motor you have my subscription
Many thanks for subbing! I do appreciate it. thank you for watching too!
I have a 2004 triumph daytona 600. In terms of build and design this is quite similar to my bike. Thanks for the video I think I’m gonna go pull an engine🤣
thank you for watching!! and thank you for the comment!
Very good video makes it so easy I’m used to air cooled engines but this is not that much harder
Thank you much for watching!
I think im gonna be nasty and cha ge just the top filter and drain old fluid lol
Links to both filters would be nice
Awesome video. Definitely very detailed. Funny how I ran into the same problem I was doing the oil change and saw the tube was broken . I ordered a new one for 36 bucks.
thank you for watching!! and thank you for the comment!
I thought the temperature on the chart was for the temp of the Transmission fluid, which you have to have an ODB2 reader to get??? Not sure...
This is a great video series. I watched the whole series and I feel a lot more confident when I need to one day get into my f4i motor. Thank you
thank you for watching!! and thank you for the comment!
WRONG CONNECTIONS...... AT 04:15 MINUTES.... THERE IS NO GASOLINE LEVEL..... THEN THE TANK IS FULL..... DOWNLOAD THE MANUAL FIRST AND STUDY IT WELL BEFORE DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY..... HOW CAN YOU WORK WITHOUT EQUALIZING THE CARBURETTORS? I FIND THIS DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY STRANGE, VERY STRANGE.... VALVES MIXED, WITHOUT BEING TURNED OR EQUALIZING CARBURETTORS? HOW DID THE BITCH GET IT?
05:20 MINUTES WRONG ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE FUCK..... WHAT I SEE IS THE WALLS OF THE VALVE CUPS ALL SCRATCHED BECAUSE OF THE HURRY IN DISASSEMBLY. I'M NO LONGER GOING TO COMMENT ANYTHING MORE ABOUT THIS ENGINE BECAUSE IN ADDITION TO PUTTING THE WRONG SCREWS IN PLACES I SHOULDN'T HAVE... DID NOT STUDY FIRST OR READ THE MANUAL FOR CORRECT DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY OF THE ENGINE. THIS ENGINE IS DEAD.
Wrong location of the metal washer. 15:05 minutes YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THE MANUAL BEFORE DISASSEMBLY AND DURING ASSEMBLY. THIS ENGINE MUST BE OPENED AGAIN. 17:55 minutes Take a good look at the figure and where the sealant should be placed. you put it in the wrong place. 18:25 MINUTES The sealant must not be dry before closing the pieces, but rather when it is placed to ensure that the pieces fit well. The blocks are rectified and measured for each other and never exchanged with similar ones. They are the same but the measurements are different. THE SEALANT SHOULD NOT HAVE DRIED BEFORE CLOSING. 32:00 MINUTES WRONG SCREWS
so much, perhaps a good hundreds of engines that I have seen opened and some that I have opened..... this is the first one that I have seen opened and has the combustion chambers as clean as if it had left the factory..... . although it is clear that something has already been wandering around inside the third cylinder. and before opening this head, which apparently was opened shortly before this work, if you had downloaded the manual you would understand that it is not by force that you separate precision parts. This head gasket is from Aliexpress.... What's more, that head is warped, or it was. There is a procedure for dismantling and assembling engines, be it one cylinder or 12. the way he did things, it was out of mere curiosity of what this engine is like inside and how it comes apart. DID NOT READ THE MANUAL. IF YOU HAD READ IT I WOULD NOT SAY WHAT I SAID ABOUT THE DRIVE CHAIN OR THE GUIDE
Jesus..... The person or mechanic who tinkered with this engine before was either stupid or a first-rate swindler. A screwdriver as a lever???? And more seriously, did it rest on the part of the piece that touches the valve shimm??? Do you know what you were doing?
Wow. Im Definitely not a mechanic but this video helped me tremendously. After the 3rd attempt I was asking myself was it the fill tube. Thank you. Now on to my project
Thank you for watching!!
Thank you, you're awesome. And yes patients like a monk😂
thank you for watching!! and thank you for the comment!
Thanks
thank you for watching!! and thank you for the comment!
Im curious, where are your judder springs for the clutch assembly? - Thanks
How did it hold up
thank you for watching!! and thank you for the comment! still doing fine :)
So it takes 5quarts? Other says it was 8quarts.
If the transmission is pulled out of the vehicle, or the torque converter is fully drained then you will need 7.5 quarts. A simple drain and fill: 5 quarts +/-
@@jeffhumes Thank You im in the process of changing mine thats why. thanks for the clarification!! makes it much simplier that way lol
Do you happen to know how to replaced and drain the torque converter fluid for the same car?
Swing for the fences, not benches.
thank you for watching!! and thank you for the comment!
How is it possible to break the end of the crankshaft? Who has any idea?
cam and crankshafts are actually very brittle pieces of machinery lengthwise, they are made to be very strong in a twisting motion, but you can easily crack/break them just by dropping them. could be that someone before you dropped it?
@@jeffhumes Well I broke not by dropping it but by riding the bike, Even if previous owner dropped the bike it wouldn't survive that long without showing up. So that's really strange...
You won't believe but I broke the crankshaft on F4i just few days ago...RIght between the flywheel and inner wall
What's the easiest way to change the starter buddy?
Very good explanation step by step if I don't see you video I will never find that second filter. Thanks for your technical help.😮
How do you get to the drain plug?
N entendo sua língua mais entendo a dinâmica qui vc passa melhor qui vi até hj muito obrigado linda aula aprendi muito
Thank you very much for watching!
I just bought a 14 compass latitude and not finding the transmission fluid "dealer" dipstick tube is making me question my purchase..among other things.. From your video I just realized it must of broke off!!! Thanks for such a great detailed video!
Also, did you end up buying a new fill tube and please dont tell me it was 45k lol?? or did you re-weld it?
thank you for watching!! and thank you for the comment! I re-welded it :) although I think you can get a new/replacement on amazon for ~36 bucks
@@jeffhumes I believe my Compass model is a sealed transmission from what I've read in the manual so far. So can't exactly fix it myself unfortunately. But thanks again!
