@@stjernholmreviews I've been designing and building speakers since 1991, specifically (99.8% of the time) 1/4 wave transmission lines (see my channel) .... and my answer is always the same th-cam.com/video/bXEglx-or6k/w-d-xo.html .. and every time I go try Commerical speakers, I always end up disappointed, including the Focal Grand Utopia's that I help install ... very forgettable speakers! Back in the day, the only brands that I would have said were; Dynaudio (which are highly respected in the car audio world) and Totem. However, Dyn was bought out many years ago, and Totem, if my memory serves, has attracted new investment. Either way you slice it, both are now at the mercy of private equity firms, and when private equity buys into a company, two things always happen; #1 - Lay-offs #2 - Lower production costs aka cheaper sourced components ...always!!! Before you say; "Focal - Car Audio" ... I've owned enough of it to know how cr@p it is. All my Focal speakers blew in a short amount of time (3 months max) and I've actually seen two Focal amps catch on fire. Two of the biggest car audio retailers in the UK, told me to stay away from Focal car audio amps. Also, their subs aren't up to much, including the Utopia's. Nice looking paperweights! Even with that said about Focal, I did design a t-line for a Focal sub. I was considering it, but it sounds so close to the cornwall IV, that it seems silly to prioritize it over some new offerings in the market. I am interested in checking out the new SVS and the Rubikore line from DALI, and we also want to restart the dreamspeaker reviews. I would love to test some german dipole speakers too.

@@stjernholmreviews I am interested in the late night listening attributes of both the Cornwall and Forte as well as appropriate room size (at lower volumes room might not be as effected.)

That sound profile is often what clients describe to me with very neutral sounding, super low distortion, detailed systems , when listening to certain types of music. What is your jam in regards to music?

@revelry1969 Only if you need more SPL, or play so loud on them that you feel they are "under pressure", "harsh" or otherwise feel over their head. If placed close to a wall, its likely that the 888 in the same position would be to bottom heavy, and would need some electronic correction.

@timschutte3961 i think the Rubicore 8 is actually only a little bit more expensive, around €500, and yes, they would very interesting to sample! Maybe later this year, as the "dance-card" is already pretty packed!

@MrBazsi888 Naa... not really. Depends so much on so many factors. Would you want a Model O system over a MOFI 888 system with a Lyngdorf processor?

@Kukkema 46Hz (soundwave length over 7 metres!) requires very deep absorption, that just ain't practical in such domestic room. The remedy is digital room correction or just applying some EQ. We play around with these very things in the 888 review, and in depth in Tims listening session available to patreon supporters.

I would look at the budget overall first and the requirements for the room and your personal preferences. Also, there is many great speakers that is not necessarily as expensive. The TD range is "luxury audio" class, where you (as I state in the review) pay for much more than "just" the sound 🙂. You dont force yourself in to buying a very small Rolls Royce at the edge of your budget, if your needs cant be met by it, right?

@@stjernholmreviews yes true. Thank you. I guess I can skip fancy woods and materials so long as sound quality can be maintained. Room is small-medium size I suppose. Not large. So either scenario should work. I just want to maximize sonic quality at a given budget for the space....as we all do.

Start with a Node X if you just want to stream or play local files. It sounds great the DAC in it.

@chey408tac. Interesting idea. Why would it being built in China mean anything? Where does that idea stop and start? So many parts are being build in China, drivers, cabinets, electronics, cables.... You name it. So what is your parametres? 😜 The 888 is a new speaker, its very interesting from a price/performance perspective, so naturally it is getting loads of attention.

Bass was way overpowered in that room at the show. But so were the Sonus Fabers to a much lesser extent in the same room a few years ago.
