I wanna be like you ❤
I’m a second year apprentice and just finished a week on excavator and it was not nice lol! I’d love to see some tutorials on all the basic techniques so when I go back again I’ll have a better understanding on what to do from a PRO!
Miss the videos
Why even bench it if you only bench one side? Whoever ends up working in that trench won't be protected. Worker safety is the only reason for a bench
I mention at the beginning of the video that I’m benching the right side for a power cable. Nobody needed to be down there, we just rolled out the 1” poly from the surface. I only sloped it because it needed to stand over night
is this Alberta?
Yup, this was just south of Fox Creek last winter
Boss work
I was digging in 2 pipes that were 5 meters separation. Naturally excavators want to dig straight back to the centre of your machine. Leaving the middle island makes it way easier to stay digging wide from the resistance of that middle material.
@@efficientexcavations makes sense, thanks for answering!
@@efficientexcavations been binge watching all your videos trying to soak in everything you do. Pretty green at trenching but I’ve been running hoe for about 2 years now, got my first opportunity to do 10kms of water line coming up so I appreciate all the videos you post!
Looks like topsoil to me. Lol. Never thought of that.. good idea!..
like a surgeon. 👍
What’s the reason you do this ?
That was almost a cut out ffs !
3 very useful tips: Time management. -preplan Situational awareness. -think ahead Maximizing efficiency. -dont overthink it
Bottom digging is the least efficient way to dig ! Unless you're in sand !
I used to think that for about 10 years. I dug deep ditch water and sewer for 7 years, up to 7 meters deep. Would start at the top as wide as needed for a safe ditch and work my way down, then went pipelining and figured it was the same style of digging for 6’ foot ditch. A couple other guys would get 15 joints to my 10 joints and I couldn’t figure out how they were doing it. Turns out they were bottom diggers. I tried it one day and I eventually got up to their level, took awhile to get used to but I swear it works. If you think about it, you’re getting way more virgin dirt in your bucket, not fluffed up 30%. Give it a try one day and time yourself your way for a joint then try bottom digging and I think you’ll be surprised
Don't be a bottom digger!
Awesome operating good to see you teaching the next generation.
You would never swing Material over top of the pipe.
Would never backfill pipe with frozen dirt, that’s why he’s separating it.
A good operator knows what he's doing. He's a good operator.
No not very often. The reason I was, was because I dug through the access road that morning for the well operator. His temporary access was behind my spoil pile and I didn’t have enough room to throw it that way
Dont forget to roll it before you get to burn pile to get the dirt out!
And I do love the v bucket
When digging ditch I love them so much you could weld it on there Lol. They don’t work that good in hard ground though, too much surface area to pull through the ground. Best part is you can bottom dig and be healing the ditch as you go. No wasted movements, just heal bulking and it’s done
Not to bad!
I could show you a way to do it in two!hours! Very little swinging!,!
I'm in mining and I just recently got signed off to run excavator so I'm still learning. One thing I've noticed is there are a lot of average operators, but not a lot of really really good ones. The two things I've been trying to focus on are never banging my cylinders, and trying to stay several steps ahead of myself as far as planning goes. So any good tips I get from videos helps, cheers!
I've been at it 20+yrs Chap n with right crowd round ya it's best job you'll ever have
Mechanic here, terrible for cylinder seals… that is all
I call them bottom diggers
👌 great control mate!
For this to be good for loading trucks I’d have the swing towards the cab sometimes because good luck coordinating that with em but definitely interesting
7:20 That move. Killin it bro.
Do you have a deck truck that you put your frost shank on so it can be rolled up to you?
Nice work man. Hurtin' Albertan Doin Time.
Nice smooth never ending movement of that bucket. Love watching a professional at work
Really nice work man
thanka for the vid bro, im a new operator, and they have me opening up a 6 ft power trench with a 2 foot bench
What a skillful and smooth operator!
Thats à guy that loves his job
where’s is that H bar?
@@martygrande873 The highest pin on the bucket
Kinda nice but you should have stairs on both sides , should have access/egress on both sides and if you dig stairs you’ll save on the ladders. Good basement/cellar placement.
he got very uncomfortable fast digging that see how he through the window and door open
Very clean and well approached
Awesome work
Tried this for the first time yesterday, not as graceful but it got me off the trench. Thank you for your video.
Nice job
Hey man could you do a video on digging Z bends or S bends if you run into any of those in the future
@@kyleallen3198 The 2 bend videos I have were actually one. Was a 150 meter section or so, dug the outside bend then the inside bend. Just need to make sure you’re wide and consistently the same distance away from the pipe throughout the whole thing and it should fit
Good work
Very interesting technique! I will definitely try it. Thanks for sharing.
this is scary. i now how fast things can go very bad very quickly
its nice to see how you work and explain. I'm gonna start driving crawler soon. A Hitachi 210-5 a actually. Probably gonna end up on something like what you do so this is like watch and learn 😃
Man he's lucky nobody injured or worse
Im an operator myself . But i maneuver this kind of situation different way . But u skill also nice Sorry bad english .
I’m learning this in school. My ditch was like 3 or 4 feet deep and maybe 30 feet long. Feels like it takes me fucking forever to make it all look nice.
بصراحه انت استاذ ماشاء الله عليك
