    Hi! I shoot with an A1 too. Great camera for someone like me who’s still learning. I learned this trick from a gentleman-lick the back of the film and push it in the other cartridge and pull it out after it sticks. That pulls the leader of the roll so that you can load it again. Happy shooting and lovely shots. Excited to push Ultramax for my friend’s graduation party in two weeks.

    • @marleneinmotion
      @marleneinmotion 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I scanned the painted frames I had on paper onto my laptop and then cut all of them into their individual frames (jpg/png) and then you can just insert all of them into the timeline in the right order. Each frame will be a seperate clip, so you probably need to adjust the duration of each to your liking. You can select all clips and do it for all of them at the same time. Then you can ripple delete all spaces between the clips and then you have it basically. I hope that helps a little!

    • @marleneinmotion
      @marleneinmotion 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pretty sure it works the same in other software as well, DaVinci of course just has a different layout and a few other features I would say, but the same approach should also work with Premiere Pro, and probably simpler software like CapCut too

    • @SarahReilly-q2u
      @SarahReilly-q2u 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@marleneinmotion Thanks for the advice! How did you print the frames like get them formatted in the first place. It's seems you can only do that on premiere or Final Cut Pro in the tutorials I've watched.

    • @marleneinmotion
      @marleneinmotion 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I exported the video from DaVinci as single frames as e.g. jpg or png format. Then you can delete the frames you don't want so it is easier for you to animate and also get the choppy look. This depends on your preferences, if I remember right I did it like this: Keep Frame 1, delete Frame 2+3, keep Frame 4, delete 5+6, and so on. There are maybe easier ways to do this but for me this was how I preferred it. In the end you have all your frames that you can then put into the timeline and kind of pre-check how the animation would look. Then you can select the frames you want to print, I always printed 9 frames on one A4 paper, but again this can vary based on your own preferences, e.g. the kind of resolution you want, how big you want the animations to be, or rather how much space you want to have (since the smaller your frames get, the less space you get for you animations, if that makes sense). You can then just select all of your photos and then click on the very first one you selected (so the order is right), click print, and select the amount of photos you want on your page on the right, there are multiple options, e.g. 1, 2, 4, 9 etc. Print them, draw on them etc. scan them back in, crop the frames, and insert them into your timeline, etc. Done!

    Thank you for this video. I’m a recovering native New Yorker so I’m a sucker for NYC photography. Forgive me for not being a film photographer anymore. Some of your images seemed to me to have a green cast and weren’t very sharp. Film vs. digital? I enjoyed your video more than the still images. Cold and wet weather definitely slows me down. I live in Seattle and that is what we get in abundance. Shooting inside is always a good idea, at least part of the time I take pictures. I LOVE Saul Leiter, a color film street photographer from the 60’s and 70’s. Besides walking the streets in the east village, he’d stop off in stores and shoot through the fogged up plate glass. He’d also use his telephoto lens from his 2nd floor apartment. Some of his most famous images were captured during rain, snow, or cold weather. You have the right kind of gloves for photography with the ends of the fingers absent. Malls are a good place to go on inclement weather days. The security has the right to demand you not take any photos as that is private property. Museums are good too. Stores like the Stand or Barnes & Noble @ Union Square are good places to warm up. A place like Lincoln Center is good too. There is the library where you can warm up and use the bathroom. As a street photographer, it is important to know where public bathrooms are available. Maybe the best place in NYC to go on cold or wet days is the subway. Dry. Warm. There is always a show going on either on the platform, in the cars, or on the level of the token booths(of course there aren’t any tokens but I remember them). Mask On Nurse Marty(Ret)

      I only showed film photos in this video and some of them might not be perfectly sharp because I have quite a cheap lens and also mess up my manual focus sometimes but for me an image doesn't always have to be 100% sharp, its ithe imperfect charm of manual film photography. I mostly have a green tint when I photograph on grey days. You are definitely right with your recommendations on indoor spaces, great advice!

    With expired film you need to talk to the place that is processing first. Some places will not process older film as they do not have the process to do so. Overheard a conversation at a developing place that advised the person to not use the film they showed them for anything irreplaceable and no other places would develop it.

      @@markgoostree6334 Might check that out yea. Weird that it happened from one film to another because I finished another role earlier that day and that one was totally fine, but I will see. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Great captures. Do you develop on your own or send to a lab?

    Film leader pullers are easy to learn! The roll is salvageable. 😊

      Yes, I actually learned how to do it with the help of another roll and was able to use both of them!

    Absolute joy to watch these videos- especially love the photos of the empire state at different- I've recently taken ones in a similar concept of a view from my backyard in distinct weather conditions. It's pretty interesting and fun to observe the same subject at different times!
