      Hi Kenny and yes I'm a subscriber!!! And I will continue to follow and enjoy your paintings and tutorials too! One question. What is the name or brand of filbert brush that you used in your spring has sprung painting? It was the all black one. Really nice brush. Was it part of a package of filberts or just that one? Hey! I am thinking of getting into this style of painting. How long did it take u to be able to paint paintings that good? How long have u been painting all together?

    • @Kennysgreasypaint
      @Kennysgreasypaint 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Penelope1427 Thanks so much. Yeah this technique is really fun to do because the blending of colors is such a great concept. Granted, I started this technique in 2020, I’ve been painting and drawing my whole life ever since I was young enough to pick up crayons. So maybe I had a little bit of an advantage there. But the most important thing I can tell you is to actually not be concerned with how long it will take you to get good. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t even tell you to worry about being good at all. I’d highly recommend getting into any form of artwork simply because you want to and it’s fun. So if you think painting like this would be something you’re interested in, give it a shot. And then keep painting because it makes you happy to create. And then over time, with practice, before you know it, mastering the skill is inevitable. So just keep that all in mind. But thanks again so much for your comment and I appreciate you for checking out the channel 😊

      @@Kennysgreasypaint what would be the basic colors/brushes someone would need to start painting with this technique?

    • @Kennysgreasypaint
      @Kennysgreasypaint 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Penelope1427 Basic colors would be your primaries. To make it simple, those would be red, blue, and yellow. Now white is not one of them but you’ll need that too lol. With those colors, you can mix up and make any color on earth. More so importantly is the brand of paint you use. I highly recommend using the ones in my video which is Winsor & Newton. Honestly any brand of paint with a thick consistency is fine. Just don’t use cheap student grade paint even as a beginner. You will get discouraged. As for brushes, this technique is going to require any brush with natural bristle hairs.

    I am in awe of how your “chiseled edge” stays during your corner into the canvas. Mine seems to spread out and become very blunt. It seems your brush is kinda stiff and crunchy. Is this true? Is my BR brush #6 too soft in the bristles? How do I get it crunchy and able to hold the edge? Btw. I am not seeing Simply Simmons still making a 6 fan brush.

    • @Kennysgreasypaint
      @Kennysgreasypaint หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thomiequinn Hey, pal! Thanks for your comment. Believe it or not, as I look back on this video I actually think it’s my weakest one and I’m not sure how it’s the most popular video on my channel lol. The truth is, if I could remake this video, I would NOT be using the fan brush from the BR company. At this point, I had not even owned the fan brush you see in the video for a year. And the truth is a lot of the bristles had fallen out, they somehow shrunk and the quality overall simply decreased in such a short amount of time. I actually don’t think it’s holding the paint well at all so it’s interesting that you would say it’s holding its shape. The trees I made in this video don’t even showcase a true skill because of the compromise of the brush but I didn’t know this at the time. As for the simply Simmons brush, which I highly highly recommend, I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble finding it. I shop for it in person at my local Michaels art store. Do they have a location where you’re from or are you just looking online?

      Hey, pal! Always great to see friendly comments. It’s very difficult for me in general to pick favorites of anything, so I actually couldn’t tell you who my favorite James Bond actor is lol. But they all definitely deserved their own portrait. As for the videos, I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t be getting notified of new videos being post. Are you sure you’ve also hit the notification bell icon as well? Either way, I have some bad news and good news. The bad news is the channel is going to slow down for a while but the good news is it’s only because it’s under contraction. I have tons of videos under pre production right now. And once they’re all complete, edited and the time is right, they’ll all be released one by one so often you might not even be able to keep up haha. But I’m putting in the time and effort for the hard work. We all just have to be patient. My history with painting and how I got started is actually an idea for a video I have on its own. But I’ll give you the short version- basically I’ve been painting and drawing my whole life ever since childhood but I picked up the wet on wet technique during the pandemic and the rest is history as they say. I really appreciate you, your support and taking the time to comment. Once the next season is completely filmed, I’ll be able to release one episode a month along with other videos and follow up tutorials. It’s going to be awesome. I think everyone is going to really enjoy what I’ve been working on. But like paintings themselves, you can’t and you shouldn’t rush them. Thanks again buddy! Can liquid clear be used with acrylic paints

    • @Kennysgreasypaint
      @Kennysgreasypaint 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey, Sarah. Great question! So since the clear is an oil based medium, it will only work with other oil pigments. Unfortunately, acrylics are water based and wouldn’t mix well with the liquid clear. However there are water based mediums made to mix with acrylic paints, I’m just not sure of what those products are called but they exist.

    How do you keep your hands clean? I am covered with paint when I am done.

    • @Kennysgreasypaint
      @Kennysgreasypaint 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well when setting up and laying my paints down, I take my very sweet time with it. Trust me that helps lol. But during clean up I definitely get a spot or two on my hands and fingers but of course you don’t see that part because I already end the video lol. Best thing to do though is wipe the paint off your skin as soon as you notice it and it’ll prevent staining as well.

      @@williammead238 Thanks pal, I appreciate you. Also, baby wipes are a very cost effective way of cleaning paint off your palette and work area by the way. Give it a try 👍

    Why do this ?

    • @Kennysgreasypaint
      @Kennysgreasypaint 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This specific technique of oil painting depends on your canvas to stay wet the entire time and thick mediums are required. Without the white primed base coat that goes on first, the thick colors will be very difficult to blend.

    1. Goodfellas!! The scene with Joe Pesci's mother shows them the painting of man and 2 dogs in the boat...CLASSIC!!! 2. Ferris Bueller's Day off when they're all in the art gallery and the looks and expressions they have, another classic. 3. Pulp Fiction, when John Travolta picks up Mia Wallace, she let's him by buzzing him in and tells Vince to make himself comfortable as she is still "getting ready" and Vince pours himself a drink and checks out the painting of Mia on the wall. Another excellent one.. 4. And most recently, I thought the movie was actually excellent... fact is painters inspired by Bob Ross will actually get the humor in this move.. the movie is: PAINT, actor Own Wilson plays a "Bob Ross" related character named Carl Nargle... I thought it was very good and funny. My opinion a must see movie. These 4 movies are the ones that immediately came to mind as I watched your video. Well done as always Brother Man!!! But I think the Goodfellas scene is actually my all time favorite!! I actually qoute parts of that scene often, if anyone has seen it you'll understand, LMFAO!!!!! KEEP YOUR DREAMS HIGH AND THAT POMPADOR IN THE SKY BROTHER!!!

      Oh boy. Being such a fan of mob movies, how could I forget that Goodfellas scene? Smh lol. But it looks like another 10 painting scenes video will have to be made 🤣 Those are some good recommendations man, thank you! Although I haven’t seen the movie Paint but it’s already on my list. I’ll just have to move it up as priority haha. As always man, I appreciate you 🍻

      @Kennysgreasypaint Dude for real, I thought it was excellent, Owen Wilson nailed it. Knowing your humor Ken, I believe you'll dig it! It's worth making time to watch it. And yes, a part 2 to follow up this video would be awesome!!
