Stan the Man had Hughes sussed out. He was an out and out rat. He broke Peter Osgood's leg deliberately, slagged off West Ham fans in the 80's and was so unpopular even his own team mate Tommy Smith did not bother with him !

I used to really enjoy his Co-Commentary with Peter Backley? for the Italian Seria A 'live' games shown on Ch4 on Sunday afternoon's....Really insightful,informative and appreciative of the quality of players and Football which were on show!..(And in those early 90's Serie A had some fantastic players !)

Remember seeing play at Man City in I think 1978. His wife had just left him and he City fans sane "Stanley Stanley where's your wife"

I am a survivor of pen 3 and I cannot comprehend that some people still believe the lies. I was one of the first people through gate C and offered my ticket to the steward who opened it but he refused to take it and waved us through! Here's a little known fact that makes the lie we where drunken, violent ticketless fans who forced the gate open, David Dukinfield ordered gate C to be opened 3 times as well as ordering gates A and B opened! The Sheffield safety engineer refused a safety certificate because he said the safe capacity of the terrace should be 3,500 and not 10,100. Just to give people some perspective there was 3,500 people in pens 3 and 4! The Hillsborough stadium operated for 9 years without a safety certificate and was still awarded to my knowledge 4 FA Cup Semi finals in that time. If you go back through reports there had been issues with crushing and overcrowding as far back as 1981 which makes their negligence even more incomprehensible and even more apparent this tragic loss of life was completely avoidable!
