Channel Name Change after 18 years on YT - we go out gathering memories so seemed apt :)
I firstly have to say, I am not a bastion of knowledge and get things wrong so feel free to add corrections.
I am also not a full time TH-camr as I have to work and have a VERY busy life after work so fit in when I can.
I started my channel way back when as no one in my area was uploading anything to do with my area so I thought I would drop a few videos.
I hope you enjoy the videos, I am surprised so many have subscribed but you are all welcome and glad you enjoy.
I am not a pro, I don't have affiliate links or patreons or any such thing, I just hope you like what you see and pop back if so.
The videos were mainly for me to look back upon in 30 years but a few people have come along now for the ride.
Anne-Marie is a big part of the channel now too so nice to have a name that represents us both rather than my 25 year old daft nickname haha
Look after yourselves, life is short so enjoy.

Greyhound Retail Park Chester to Connah's Quay drive
Nipped to BK on the greyhound park in Chester and thought I would record the journey back.
I filmed this on the DJi Pocket 3 so may be a little bit better in lowlight but as I am driving I have no control over its directional input so hopefully it behaves and doesn't just record the dash like it has in the past :D lols.

#fog #nightdrive #uk Took a drive around locally in the fog, just a brief wander really but it was very very foggy and quite eerie, I have put some calming music on top from #epidemicsound but left the wind noise in also. Adding to YT before I forget and end up deleting the file, already lost 8TB (yikes!!) anyway hope it is of interest to some or just a nice relaxing chillout to watch.
A wander around Chester UK at night using DJI pocket 3

Im not a Chester expert but I know some of it fairly well, so tonight I had a wander around the bits I never go for a change and it was quite good fun and a bit of exercise. Also getting used to the Pocket 3 and its features and annoyances also. low light and wide angle dont mix great I find but I am still a pocket noob so likely down to operator :D Enjoy

I moved to Southern California since July 2000 from Connah’s Quay, it’s great to see familiar places again. Not been back since 2008. Lived at Wepre Hall Crescent from 1971 to 88, then Barmouth Close, 88 to 2000. No place like home ❤
Barmouth close up by kwiks , Morrisons nowadays, my nan was in St Marks avenue but moved to Dodds drive about 87. One blessing of cali is that it’s likely not been raining daily for 12 months like it has in the quay :D - oh hammersound finally closed but hot stuff is still going
What a great video ! My childhood Connah’s Quay! 1947 - 1959. Born in Dock Road. My mum’s brother drowned in the Dock in 1924 aged 6. A whole family history on most of the streets and lots of relatives in the Cemetery. Lived in King’s Road and played on the Rock. Went to Golftyn Infants when it was on the Quay Hill..Nanna and grandad Roberts married on Christmas Day 1916 at St Mark’s Church so rich memories of early life in the Quay.
I am glad you liked it, I haven’t been out lately as had tonnes on but will be out again soon and there are quite a few local videos on my channel. I started this up as noone was doing anything local and thought people might find it interesting.
@@Memory_Gatherers thank you. I wish I could find photos of the houses in Dock Road where my family had lived since 1902. I cannot believe how many houses have been built in the Quay! We live in Lancashire but came back to the Quay 1972-78 and lived off the top of Normanby Drive, before the houses on Broad oak farm were built. Still have cousins in the Quay. My cousin Ken Roberts was captain of the Connah’s Quay cricket team for a number of years. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Arranged by the great Benny Carter.
@ timestamp 10.55 that's me coming out of the G&R newsagents wearing a tracky with white cap and white trainers holding a box with chocolates and presscoo in it also with a order of fragrances as well for my friend Sian who I was going to see, she had placed the order and lives Just round the corner round the back of the shop...The Date was Sunday January 14th around 10pm that would of been when you Drove past me... I had Just came from the Quay watermans cafe as well because I had the keys for it and headed back there again after I left my friends around 10.30pm so Just missed you outside there but then you caught upto me on the Drive past...Just picked up on this now, perfect timing with my sharp eyes!!!
Nice spot that mate, I’d never have seen that. Hopefully have five mins for a wander soon. Better weather too, cameras don’t like rain. ☔️ and it’s been monsoon for ages.
Good vid Andy...
@ last i can see myself on 1 of your vids...about time, even though its only for a few seconds and from a Distance il still settle for that💯
No one on the pool table, I’d be on that!
we dove on that mate for a few gos :)
@@Memory_Gatherers good on you! 👍😀
See you in Tims sometime for a coffee!
Me and my ex misus lived in 6 cable court ch5 4dl,,from 99 to 2001 wr moved back to Liverpool when my daughter was born but they were the best couple of years and still warms me remembering how happy people were towards us I had a job at Shotton paper,,,good times brilliant videos mate thanks ,Stephen
I know Cable court, when I was a kid it didn't exist there was a bit of a hill there with a wooden hut on the top and I used to go there to play group (like 1978/9) and the old age pensioners used to go there, the bank was next door going up the hill and going down the hill was the 8 ball - Pool hall. The bank got converted to housing in about 1980 ish but the old bank vault was still in there at the time as we knew someone who moved in there. not sure if its been taken out by now. the pool hall was demolished and the bethel place flats slapped up and Jehovah witness kingdom hall was around the back (that's accommodation now iirc). then later the hill was levelled and the Cable court bit built - before that it was just cable street. a bit up the hill was railway terrace and the old Buckley line used to go down to the docks and up right past them houses and up to Buckley carrying cargo from the docks. that died off in the late 50s early 60s and for years there were still bits of carriages around on the docks and a few lines. there was a train wagon repair place up until the 90s. I dont think there are any wagons left on the docks now and I dont think there are any of the old clinkerbuilt boats now (used to be dozens) and the netted salmon fishing seems to have long gone now as well - still doing that in the 90s. its changed a fair bit around here and Im just trying to capture it as it is now before it changes again cos noone films here, I guess most film in manchester and london and what have you but maybe the vids I do will in 50 years be of interest to someone. Liverpool btw is a great city to film, dead interesting and some dead nice people there. type of place you ask someone for directions and they grab you and say come with me love Ill show you.
can you go to mancot again
life chaos atm but hopefully back to normal soon and be getting around again, trying to drop a few Ive recorded already but they take about 2 hours to render then 2 hours to upload and Im getting about 30 mins to myself a day lols so trying :D
Ah, North East Wales! totally ignored and forgotten about, with it's employment up's and down's, it's still an ok place(never stopped only driven through), but I personally do not feel good about the Dee Estuary, (it feels funny to me?) with its heavily controlled road network, (Thank you Heddlu, for being over zealous? at least in its signs?), and its totally daft roads on the estuary, 50, 40, 30, 20?, on some dual carriageways too, why not all estuary roads DC's?, Heddlu do not want you to go any faster at all, on the roads as they are, (so improve them), it's painful to get around when you want, outstanding driving vid through obscure places, Love the trees.
I try and capture these places because no one else seems to be doing it or at least weren’t. I kind of hope that maybe one day these will be looked back upon and folks may say wow look how it used to be….maybe :) I do film in known places too but not many people in Italy are likely to have heard of Connahs Quay lol.
THE SCHOOL IS ‘CONWAY STREET SECONDARY’ FOR MANY YEARS UNTIL AT LEAST THE 70s or 80s. I ATTENDED THERE FROM THE AGE OF 11 to 15. IT was an ‘All Girls School with around 800 Pupils. I emigrated in 1973 and only know about its use up until then. I was brought up 2-3 minutes walk from Conway Street School. It was the Main Street to other parts of Birkenhead North, Birkenhead Park, and along to the Bridges over to Wallasey, New Brighton & Seacombe. Great to see it still standing in its original state. , Us girls entered from the rear into a large playground. Classrooms and science lab were across 2 floors. I hated my time there as I was the only girl without a school uniform!! Thanks for showing my hometown!
Great to have a local drop some info Betty, I’m just grabbing memories for the future for people to look back on mainly and it’s great to have more history. I’m hoping in like 25 years people will look back and say… remember this or that :)
@@Memory_Gatherers I’m an Author, now living in Australia. I spent the first 21 years of my life in Birkenhead before emigrating. It’s funny, as the majority of us who lived in the central area of Birkenhead thought of ‘Cheshire: Hoylake, Raby Mere, Port Sunlight, Heswall, Thingwall etc, as far away places. I now know they are all within a bus ride away, but to us back then, they may well have been the other side of the UK, such was our own little conclave! We lived, Shopped, went to school, all in a 2 mile radius. Apart from once a year, all 8 of us would get the train to Liverpool just before Christmas, and go to LEWIS’S or BLACKLES Christmas Grottos. Here we would go to the top floor ‘Cafe’ (the only time we ever went in one!!) and Mum would by 3 Egg & Chips and divide them between all eight of us. At one stage, earlier in the 20th Century, Conway Street Secondary School would have both Boys & Girls, but when I went there in 1963, it was all Girls, although there were still 2 entry gates at the rear: “BOYS” and “GIRLS” inscribed above. The mangled crest you mentioned was The School Crest, and the Uniform Jumpers had them on. I can tell you so much more, as I’m an Author with a great long term memory! trishollman84@gmail.com
@@Dishy.Trish1 I’m not the most prolific videographer on TH-cam but I enjoy filming stuff for future generations and it’s amazing when you have someone chip in with local knowledge. I travel to the Wirral daily for work and pass through Neston, Heswall, Upton and I go into Liverpool a fair few times a year as it’s close and I love the city. I’ll have to root on the channel as I’ll have more Wirral, Liverpool etc and I did one down the dock by the old tunnel air towers at the waters edge on here somewhere too. This one was Liverpool about 2-3 years back - th-cam.com/video/CAvV1eizA50/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rpXlPPYy57twn6SY

Hello again, I've tried to send Anne-Marie and yourself a super thanks 5 times, for some reason, or another, it's not having any of it x
How amazingly kind, dont worry I have only started the monetization process as if I ever reach 1000 subs youtube give you something like 4p per video haha (considering this channel started in 2006 - I doubt Ill be rich anytime soon). the superchat is an added bonus thing, i dont think You tube have finished setting it up for us yet and to be honest,we dont expect anything from anyone - just the fact you watch the videos is smashing as I think if people watch them then you tube shows it to more people who find them interesting. at least I think thats how it works :D - I am far from a YT expert even after 18 years haha.
Hello Andy and Anne-Marie, thank you once again for the well detailed video. Isn't Shotton and Connahs Quay much bigger than first imagined? You have shown a lot of historical information along the way x
glad you like it, I am never to sure if drives or walks/ music or chat are more favourable as everyone seems to like something different so we drop a few different types. I think a drive is my most watched video along with a walk around Rhyl funnily enough. Must head back to Rhyl again soon to see how it has changed in recent months.
So you have also noticed it takes longer for amazon even though they are in our area now.
Yes it was an earlier delivery when coming from Warrington for some Reason.
In all my years around here I have never been to the Deeside docks area. Thank you for that view.
I’ll have some day time ones in here too I get lost these days as down so many videos, on way to 400 now.
wonderful ❤dear
Thank you so much 😊
I love how walkable the UK seems. Some areas and major cities are walkable here but its not a common thing.
Probably cos it’s so tiny :D I think the whole UK is about as big as Oregon :D …ish Wales where I live is almost 7 times smaller than New York State alone :D

Thank you, it was just a little wander about - Ive just done one in chester Ill have to get uploaded but not long back in - 22:46pm
heey. Memory~you shared nice dji,peace out,=)
hey thanks for watching bro :)
thought I may as well make this one public :D - I generally keep stuff like this on either private or on a hard drive, but recently lost 8TB!!!!!! so thought release some. 8TB man!! :(
That was lovely, really enjoyed the music too, I think it's "Fantasia On A Theme" by Thomas Tallis....or very similar, used as the theme to Hannah Hauxwell a Yorkshire lady who farmed alone. Many thanks for sharing.
thats it mate and straight where I nabbed it from, I love Hannah especially, too long a winter <3
@@Memory_Gatherers Yes, love Hannah too. loved the too long a winter. 🙂
Hard to believe this is nearly 4 years ago, enjoyed the walk, those cows are nosey buggers...lol. 🙂

Hi Guys loved the visit to Chester's Christmas Market Part 1 . Great Video😊👍
Glad you enjoyed it Thomas, I fancy another wander about Chester soon when it’s not -4 or raining :)
Hi Guys loved the visit to Chester's Christmas Market . Great Video😊👍
Just found this. Will enjoy watching. That first building you feature looks to me like Ye Olde Vaults otherwise known as barlows to us locals😄 Can't remember when it closed but certainly remember a few nights in there.
There are a few Chester ones on here hope you enjoy, we are not professionals just wander about with a camera :)
What a dump we were there last Sunday morning and in not the place i can remember when I was a kid its gone down the pan never again
Hypnotic & Ambient...
Need to get some more done just feeling a bit crap lately. Be back at it soon. Weather a bit naff at the moment as well. Snowing raining or wind chucking trees round :)
@@Memory_Gatherers ...This weather is Brilliant for the vids tbh especially strong winds and angry skys as it gives off a more potent energy...I understand the Rain won't be ideal if your out on foot for obvious reasons but if your in the car with an internal camera then theres no problem... I think bad weather brings out the characteristics of the area when things can get turbulent especially in the Quay!!! Plus it makes you appreciate the summers more when they arrive... @ least we can breathe in this weather and the air is fresh which makes it much easier to.sleep @ night plus we can wrap up warm as well... always see the positive Andy...
Don't go to the seaforth for the food . The chipshop round the corner is far cheaper. Same for drinks £7 for a pint of guiness in the seaforth🤔😮 As for Ullapool it's a fantastic place. Lots of places to go from there all over the highlands. There is also a mobile pizza van that some of the locals have set up with fantastic stone baked pizzas. The food shack is also another popular place to eat. If your in Ullapool go further north for 13 miles and you will see a turning to the left for the summer Isles. Thats is truly gods country up there❤. Thanks for the video much appreciated.🙌 I'm back up there this year love it there.
I would live there tomorrow, we stay in Reiff but I’ve lost 8TB of footage so hopefully recover some of that when can from my ropey drive. If I ever make it big on TH-cam (which won’t lol) I’ll be buying a summer isle area home…and a land rover :D
@@Memory_Gatherers Yeah I know exactly where you are as in Reiff. We used to rent the port beag chalets. fantastic place . You try the little sandy beach going past Reiff? It's a gem of a beach golden fine sand with turqouise blue water❤. we also used to rent a house just before Reiff can't remember of the top of my head the name of it (hill top House🤔). But it sits up high on the right as you head to Reiff.. The furan bar is pretty good for the odd drink or four🤣. spent many a night in there with alot of the locals. I have a couple of vids on youtube. which was from a few years back. I have rented a house in Ullapool this year so will pop up to the summer isles as i love it there
dito
thankyou
I have a part two of this to get uploaded too taking in a little bit of Flint mountain and Northop.
It's always great to see Flintshire getting some appreciation on video. My favorite run is the going from Buckley to Rhuddlan via the A541 and A525. At 24:00 I have you wonder if you revealed a possible dogging spot so the the parking bravery may have been for other reasons.
Haha I hadn’t thought about that :D I wouldn’t leave my car there overnight though I’ve seen that water really deep there.
Like 👍
Brings back a lot of memories esp at t=30.34 min. I lived in Wepre villa in 1979-80 with few other students from Malaysia. We studied at Coleg Cambria (formerly Kelsterton College) for our A levels. Mrs Powell was our landlady. I believe her son's name is Jeremy Powell. Also he has two sisters. Nice video. Thanks
Hello there - I am happy that you enjoyed the video. I have done many on the channel so please have a look to see if any others are good for you. I did one of the outside of the college during lockdown (covid) but I cant find it now however it was on an old camera so not too good anyway.
