    My sister did a nasal and throat covid test and the T line was even fainter than the one at 6:00. Also she ate and drank within the 30 mins before her test. With how faint the line is and the fact she drank water I don't know what to think of the test results.

      General advice here: To be honest, even a very faint T line is highly likely to be positive. If in doubt, repeat the test if you can or get a PCR instead if at all possible. Cheers, Paul.

    A good tip when performing the RAT on children is to place the swab into the nose: “low, and slow”. As mentioned in the video - place the swab with the tip facing more ‘backwards’ than ‘upwards’ into the nose, and advance and rotate it slowly and gently to make it less startling and uncomfortable for your child.

    Why the drops couldn't enter in the ear canal?

    • @melbourneentgroup532
      @melbourneentgroup532 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may be because your ear canal is swollen, but mostly it is just due to the natural shape and collapse of your ear canal... pulling the outer part of the ear gently backwards when placing the drops should open up the ear canal, and then a gentle repeated pressing movement on the little part of the ear in front of the ear canal should ‘pump’ the ear drops into the ear canal...

      @melbourneentgroup532 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there - goes without saying that you should see your treating doctor where possible for follow up but... if it’s still within a couple weeks of your nasal cautery, then the odd nose bleed is not a deal breaker but part of the healing process, as the little ‘wound’ created by cautery heals over.. so I would say, see how the next couple weeks go, continue with any nasal precautions your doctor advised, and revert to your doc if still issues in a couple weeks time.. a simple nasal moisturiser eg Vaseline into each nostril over the next couple weeks can also help. Cheers, Paul

    My only question is how important is the antibiotic ointment? I can’t seem to figure out how to apply the ointment without disturbing the site. I tried to use my finger but it feels counter productive considering that was the cause of my bleed from the start.

    • @melbourneentgroup532
      @melbourneentgroup532 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tim - great point and question. We actually advise a specific non contact ‘technique’ to get the ointment onto the site to help it heal - easier if I post a video but here are the steps: 1. 1-2cm of ointment onto the ‘pulp’ of your thumb 2. ‘Scrape’ the pulp of your thumb with the ointment on it across the base of the affected nostril so that the cream deposits onto the inside of the nose. 3. Then gently push on the outside of the same nostril so that you compress the nostril against the septum and thereby spread the ointment all over the affected area without making any direct contact with the bleeding spot.. Hope that makes sense, maybe I’ll post a quick explainer on that, to the channel, shortly.. Cheers, Paul

    I was doing this with the cheap “dollar” store stuff. It didn’t list any other ingredients, so I presumed it was safe. But, I’ve read that it is common for drug companies to add chemical stabilizers to increase the shelf-life. So, to be on the safe side, I switched to the food grade hydrogen peroxide. It is more expensive but we only use small amounts,, and shelf life is shorter,

    • @melbourneentgroup532
      @melbourneentgroup532 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Guys - if you have had sudden sensori-neural hearing loss, and its been a few months, an MRI is often performed to exclude the uncommon central causes of hearing loss, such as a growth along the nerve of hearing. If this is normal, then there is still a small chance your hearing is going to improve by itself, but the chances markedly diminish after the first 6 months. Depending on the severity of the hearing loss, and the impact it's having, you may benefit from a trial of a hearing aid. Hope that helps - Cheers, Paul

    Would it be okay to share a link to the new medication for someone who has LPR that you talk about or provide the name of the company that is working on this drug? I was doing my own research and found a company that was doing some drug trials for acid reflux but pulled the plug for some reason. Hoping its not the same one. And would you say the new pepsin saliva test is the equivalent to the 24hour ph impedance study so basically we can skip the latter and get the same results in a much simpler way?

    • @melbourneentgroup532
      @melbourneentgroup532 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pepsin test is a good screening test. If it's positive, it's fairly accurate, but if it's negative, and there is still a strong suspicion that you suffer from reflux, then the 24 hour pH impedance study is a more accurate test / gold standard - and may provide additional diagnostic information.

    k, here is my question, or situation.....I;ve had ear infections now for the past three months, in both my ears!. I seen the first doctor, who perscribed medicine, which did little so I seen another doctor, who "dug" some "crap" out of one of my ears and did not want to touch the remaning ear. She recommended a "ENT".He freaked out when he looked into my ears. He "vacuumed" them, which was painfull, and persribed a steriod and antibiotic which corrects it till I run out of the steriod, one week later!...so now I have returned twice where he performed the above, only for the condition to return. This week when I returned he "vacuumed" both of them, "power wahsed" them, and painted them with gentian violet?????, and appeared really upset over the situaiton, and stated "your ears are really messed up"......so it's been "4" visits, vacuuming my ears, steriods, and now this Gentian Violet, what do you think????

      @@Jas_01101 my tinnitus has diminished significantly since starting the steroid shots 4 weeks ago. Theyve also helped me with vertigo. Not much with hearing loss though

      @@MsCubanmex- How long have you had tinnitus for and what caused it? How much hearing loss do you have? I took some oral prednisone at about the 3 month mark. I think it helped reduce my ringing a little bit. Or at least the tone has changed to a less intrusive sound. I also made a video it’s on my channel if you care to watch. Thanks.

      @@Jas_01101 i started with tinnitus on September 6 2020 when i lost my hearing. I woke up and my hearing was gone completely, i had severe vertigo and nausea, and bad tinnitus. Sounded and felt like i had a blow dryer buzzing in my ear all day. After oral steroids, the tinnitus continued, up until I started the steroid shots a month ago....either the shots helped, or im getting used to the tinnitus. No one knows what caused my hearing loss.

    Hi I have a fungal infection in my ear. And after medication it has not reduced. A doctor recommended to clean it with buds, can I dip them in hydrogen peroxide before cleaning it?

      Hi there - thanks for watching and for your comment - In principle I would say yes, that sounds reasonable as long as you use the cotton buds just to wipe discharge from the opening of the ear, rather than pushing them inside the ear where they can cause damage or further impaction. Beyond that, this is something you'll need to talk to your local doctor about. We are unable to provide specific medical advice online. If you're in Australia, feel free to make an in-person or telehealth appointment with us 😊. Take care out there

      Yes - most patients find it quite soothing, but rarely adults, and some children find it uncomfortable.

      Yes - can be very effective for discharging swimmers ear, but if discharge persists beyond a few days, would recommend an assessment with your local GP or ENT Specialist..
