Dude, I shared this philosophy. I, too, designed my base around destroying the vending machines. Mine was Hex design with armored windows. You could get 6 vending machines around 3 windows and a single in front of each remaining window. This gave a total of 8 if you doubled the floors you'd get 16. The trick was the raiders would have to destroy a vending machine or raid a wall. If they were dumb they shot rockets inside, taking out everything. The genius was once you gained access, the heartbeat sensor triggered the C4, and boom twig floor is destroyed and takes all the loot with it. Sadly, facepunch being the wusses that they are nerf vending machines so that the drop 30% of the loot stored inside. So now there's no point.

Found out that face punch nerfed vending machines again. If they destroy your vending machine they get 30% of what was in it. So nobody is gonna spend the boom getting into the room that's made of HQM they'll just blow the vending machine and take the loot!

So I disagree with your premise. Yes, the armored window has 500 makes no sense to upgrade past stone all true. But the solution is simple leave floor Twig. If they're dumb enough to fire a rocket into a room, it destroys the twig and all the vending machines. Meaning they get nothing. Upgrading to sheet metal or hq now serves a purpose because they are unlikely to try and pick their way through walls. Even a better solution is a round base or hexagon. Place windows on a twig floor being supported by one half wall. Then, place C4 charges and wire a heartbeat sensor to the receiver/transmitter. If they break a wall and attempt to gain entry c4 under floor blows half wall bringing all vending machines down. Caveats: You need to max out most of the electrical branch on tier 1. Need to get to tier 3 work bench and learn C4. This could be overkill if you just want a little shop. In that case, your design should work well, though I'd upgrade to hq for walls. Just an idea. I'm testing on a Build Server with what I call the Brittle core.

Although your trick with cutting the 8 foundations in half is quite inventive, it's much easier to build out 8 and placing your triangle. Then destroy 3 rectangles, replace them with half moons till you can't go further and destroy the ones behind you first, and then continue breaking the rest of the rectangles and finish your half moons all the way to your base. This prevents you from having the destroy foundations manually
