A friend of mine was an English teacher in China for a few years. As a black male, he also had a number of experiences there. Because China is so homogeneous, many Chinese are not exposed to people outside their race. They're only exposure and knowledge of black and brown people is via the media. I remember him telling me he got a lot questions about Will Smith and some asking if he knows Will Smith personally. He also visited Japan where he had a rather negative experience when someone called the police at an onsen. He and a co-worker went to an onsen and someone had called the policed claiming it was being robbed by what they described as an African. Fortunately, his co-worker was there and was able to resolve the misunderstanding.

Sounds like your experience was individual and specific. I leave overseas. They stare but wave, smile and laugh, and joke. I'm racially ambiguous ambiguous for some odd reason. They understand FBA and Hebrew. The picture thing I don't get that. But I've gotten plenty of comments about my skin. Brown sugar, lol.

We just got back from Belize on Saturday on a ten day trip 7 days at sunset caribe excellent spot, then Mahogany Bay. I wish I saw your video before we went. Now the resort is nice but the mosquitoes were off the chain man omg. For 3 days I spent a lot of energy killing them on my legs and arms and my wife was experiencing the same. Whew lawwwd . I was told by a vacationer that the island before the development and construction at Mahogany bay use to be called u guessed it mosquito island wtf that wasn’t in the promotional literature lol Nonetheless, it’s nice spot to chill and enjoy the sun and the heat if u like humidity but we would go back prepared this time. Thanks for the content

I hope more Black Americans realize that there is a whole world out there to enjoy, learn, and see. It took me a while to realize that there are so many people in this world who are nice and not so nice and many who are not concerned about my skin tone like I was once was.
