A look back at some terrible action figure Holiday photos by me | ca 2010 in the early Twitter days
Happy Holidays folks. Let's all have a good time and rip on some garbage photos taken by me and posted to Twitter in 2010 using Twitpic to help celebrate the Christmas season. This is before the scene took off and in fact didn't exist yet. I humbly accept worst action figure pics 2010. Let's dig in.

My word what did a unicorn 🦄 do to you my man lmaoo
Well amigo I would post a link to the video "Why Are We Being Inundated with Unicorn Symbolism" but I don't want to freak anyone out as I'm all about celebrating action figures as art and trying to avoid the occult. But yes, they hurt me. And it does sometimes seep into my videos.
There is so many good and nice channels out there and it's hard to mention them alla but I will mention two that has a unique format of what I seen with their weekly shows with invited quests sharing their stories. The first is Paul Knapp with his monday shows. MyToy Life that had a similar show on thursdays before Terry sr suddenly passed way should maybe have a postume acknowledgement. And most of all every one in the community for the time they that I am allowed to be a part of.
I just subbed to both channels based on your recommendation. Keep em coming.
@@ActionFigureAtorium Sadly since Terry Lee Stair, Sr behind the My Toy Life passed a way the channel don't update but there is a lot of interesting previous episodes there.
Good on ya bro, looking forward to the outcome.🔥🔥🔥👍
Hey man, just wanted to say I love the idea. This is going to be awesome! I'll be mailing out the figure this week. Also, I appreciate the shoutout to my channel. Keep up the great work on your channel!
cool
there are already free 3D model of Airwolf out there. If you have a 3D printer, just get that, and print one for yourself at any scale you desire. also, there are very good Airwolf fuselages for sale, that are made for RC helicopters. these are pretty large, biggest one come in at 60" in fuselage length. and cost around $600. made by company called "Funkey"
problem with fuselage for RC helicopter is, that the tail rotor is on the right side, rather than left side as in the real helicopter. because most RC helicopter kits come with the tail rotor on the right side, and the main blade rotating clockwise viewed from top. where as Bell 222 has main rotor rotating counter clockwise.
I read on the hisstank forums that this guy did infact get these files off a free site and that the original poster of said files has since taken them down. Will have to revisit that scenario. thanks for the comment amigo.
@@ActionFigureAtorium it is very inaccurate model, when compare to Bell 222 and Airwolf. ones available for free at sites like thing-i-verse and cults-3d are vastly superior. for some reason if I write those names, comments get deleted. not sure why.
Business wise i think Mattel will be fine but ethically that's unacceptable; imagine if it was a much smaller company it would seem really creepy i mean it still is creepy.
I’ve got a feeling that dragon is going to hit $700-800 for everything. Just assumptions on my part. But it is amazing people act like no dragons before. Literally there was a line called “how to train your dragon.” Yeah it was slightly larger than 1:18th scale and cartoony but it was loaded with dragons. End of the day though even if it was affordable I’ve got nowhere to put it. Space is a premium.
One problem I see with this figure is that injection molded toys don't scale up large very well. they become massively heavy plastic bricks. Think of those original Spawn figures. To do something this size, it has to be done hollow. Once people try to pose this, it will fall over, launch off the shelf and break. I have a cosmic legions brute scale figure and it falls over constantly. Just a matter of time before an arm snaps off.
I'm guessing this mom wants to try and cash in.
Or her lawyers. I made a sort of clerical flub. I assumed she hired lawyers for this but its a class action suit which usually means the legal team does it Pro Bono in hopes of getting paid when it settles.
Quick scan of the /law thread on Reddit: best answer was that the misprint does not make the doll "unfit for their intended purpose." Meaning the doll and its intended play pattern is not hampered by the misprint.
I guess the boxes will be collectoritems and the adultsite got an upswing.... ;-)
I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're worth more now by ppl trying to get them thinking they'll be worth big money in the future. but who knows? All depends on the quantity out there. thanks for your comment.
@@ActionFigureAtorium I don't know exactly what dolls box that was misprinted but I think the edition is too high to create any real value increase of it but it will probably be a fun-to-have item for the collectors that normally don't care about Barbie.
Great video. I agree this move is dumb. I can only see this being a political motivation and businesses in general need to try to stay neutral in such matters imo. You automatically alienate a significant chunk of the audience doing such things. Announcing it makes it even worse to me. If they had quietly shifted I doubt anyone would’ve noticed or cared. As far as platforms go, blue sky is one of the know little about as I only hear about it in political references. Been meaning to just look, but with so many of these platforms burning (brought it back lol) I don’t feel another is going to do well. Just my thoughts.
Agreed
Thank you for the kind words Robert. I think this move demonstrates not only emotional problems but also the need to virtue signal about their brand. A bummer in terms of long term fiscal health for BFS but at least we might be able to scoop up some cheap HACKS figures on clearance.
@ That is a good way to look on the bright side Lol.

In this video I make 3 points and then offer an opinion: 1. The Burning Platform marketing metaphor is defined [objective] 2. A neutral 3rd party marketing article on Burning Platform best practices are stated [objective] 3. Demonstration on how BFS broke with the marketing best practices stated above [objective] 4. Going forward I express my doubts of this company's leadership given the exit of 2 company founders and now this marketing failure, leading to lack of consumer confidence. [opinion]
Very astute observations. Great video, Mark!
Has Dan Larson fled Twitter yet? I had to block him so that I didn't have to see his posts retweeted in my feed by the other folks I follow.
@@ActionFigureAtoriumyes! I went to Bluesky and followed him and he blocked me in no less than 3 minutes! Hahahaa!
Go woke go broke😂😂
Beautiful figures! Yeah, the lion, the hyena, and the 2serpents are my favorites. I wold not call the Aztec figure "Bassylia" though. It needs a name that incorporates Quetzalcoatl and maybe the word in Nahuatl for woman, which I believe is something like "cihua..." or close to that (trying to remember Nahuatl words that include the female attributes). anyway, awesome video! Thank you!
Another super poseable dragon figure worth mentioning is the Kit Conceptz “Rathalos” (it’s segmented like the s.h. Monsterarts version). It’s so poseable EACH INDIVIDUAL TOE CLAW is poseable. Multi-segmented neck and tail. The eyes light up. Comes with fire effect and display stand. 29” wingspan. But it lacks the girth of the Mythic Legion’s dragon, as its wyvern style dragon.
wow. Had no idea on that one. Looks amazing and the Kit Conceptz website claims he's available for $129. Sold out at bumbusbee. Vid on it for those curious. great tip amigo! th-cam.com/video/OglAooe_Sy8/w-d-xo.html
This exactly the review I was looking for! I love toys, am an old man (70s kid), and grew up with a number of these toys! Also, I heard you mention Portland. Are you in Oregon? I'm in Keizer. I don't consider myself a serious "collector", because I don't need the first of anything. I just enjoy the toys. I do have some pretty awesome ones from my childhood, like several Big Jim/Kid Acero (the Mexican version of Big Jim), some 12 inch GI-Joes (and the Mexican versions as well). I just discovered your channel and am now subscribed. Keep up the good work! I'll be checking all your videos now! 🙂
My studio facility is in Milwaukie right on Hwy 99e. All are welcome amigo. I love this book and plan to revisit it again for another episode but more in-depth. This was just a flip through tour. I also plan to do a video where I give an oral history about the toys I had as a kid. Born '72 so we probably had the same stuff. Thanks for the comment and subscription.
@@ActionFigureAtorium Probably. I was born in '66, so I'm sure we overlap quite a bit. Been enjoying your videos! 🙂 And thanks for the welcome!
Not going to fund. Too primitive sculpting at too high of a price.
lowering the price would help. He might not make any money but would get a product produced and sometimes vanity projects such as making figures for your own comic book just want to exist rather then launch a business. good take amigo.
@@ActionFigureAtorium Yeah, almost $40 for an unknown character w/ dated sensibilities & sculpting from an unproven company is daunting.
Did you say X-Ray Toys??😅 Xesray (rhythms with pez day) Xesray Studios
its just the word Sex backwards. Its written in dyselxia. You would pronounce it Sex Ray out loud. Same thing with Tosy and their Disco-Robo dancing robot. You pronounce the company "Toys" despite the spelling.
Lol, Mad Mager Reviews! Secretly a Hatterite?🤔
no longer a secret. I backed the Flip-or. I have a shopping cart car ready to go when it ships.
McFarlane toys also did a whole bunch of dragons, even in the early spawn figure line in the 90s there were a couple of really cool looking dragons. Hasbro had a black dragon in the dungeons and dragons line a couple of years ago. I did back the Arctic Dragon, really looking forward to receiving it. sadly, realistically, speaking, there is a really big chance I may skip on the mythic legions dragon just because how much it's going to cost and how freaking big that thing it's going to be. would I like a dragon that size? Yes! But where the fuck would I put it? I have no idea.
the hasbro black dragon is on my list of figs to get. Always looking to score one used for thrift store prices. Ive seen boxes and boxes and boxes of mcfarlane little dragon figurines at my goodwill. I should have mentioned the Super7 Tiamat figure in my video (and the hasbro one) but spaced it out. great comment btw. thanks for posting.
@@ActionFigureAtorium Oh yeah, forgot the Super7 one. BTW, love those Super Colosal dinosaurs :) I got 4 of them. Maybe I should sell them...then I'll have room for the Mythic Legions dragon...lol
where is your transmetal 2 dragon megatron and your megaconstrux drogon from game of thrones
great call! I've been looking for the megatron at a used price along with that purple t-rex megatron as well. surprised there arent more dragon figures from game of thrones. ones ive seen are just statues. awesome comment amigo.
The Magi, or Wise Men, were likely astrologers or scholars from the East who followed a star that led them to Jesus after His birth. They are traditionally called “three kings” due to the three symbolic gifts they brought, though the Bible does not specify their number or royal status. Their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh each held meaning: gold symbolized Christ’s kingship, frankincense His divine nature, and myrrh foreshadowed His death and burial. Tradition ascribes them the names Melchior, Caspar, and Balthasar, with each often associated with different regions (Persia, India, and Arabia), symbolizing how the nations of the world came to honor the Messiah.
theyre also pretty decent action figures. im looking to get more from the line like the moses figure.
@ I’m collecting the set to make a more action figure Christmas set. I also got the Roman soldiers, Jesus and the tomb, Peter & John, and the women witnesses to the resurrection. Great to play with for the kids, good to engage the Christian faith. I made a whole tomb/jesus rising from the grave diorama that my bro help me build for Easter.
@@levicalebleon4321 check out these figure from D13 toys. I did a video covering his kickstarter. They havent shipped yet from china but will be here soon. I backed it and got the pharaoh moses figure but there are some even cooler ones. th-cam.com/video/20E-gDMyCf8/w-d-xo.html
I think it's interesting that the majority of people are choosing the highest tier. There should probably be other high tiers too in that case. Some people like doubles, army building, and just picking and choosing favorites. How is there no all-in option? Also, I don't think the math works out on this? 250 backers like his last campaign, and let's say EVERYONE gets all six figures, that's still $12K short of the goal.
I really want this one to succeed for a couple reasons. One is I like a couple of the figures and would love to have them for the Atorium. The other is that its cool to see o-ring figures being done that arent just endless GI Joe military rehashes. Granted, the original Hasbro line started to get weirder and weirder themselves as it went on. Most of the indie guys doing o-rings are just pumping out military figures. I'll add that WhiskeyJack should have waited to launch until his first campaign had fulfilled and shipped. The buzz of having them in hand could have carried him back to that 250 number at least.
Great video, I loved seeing the random dragons(and dinos) from your collection! It'd be cool if you did more collection videos like that, like where you compare all your horses, cars, etc. Seeing the varying scale of these things is interesting as a newer collector myself. The mythic legions dragon looks like it'd be the crown jewel of any collection, but I think I like the arctic dragon even better!
I have a box full of horses all scales because several companies make toy horses for girls to play with and they come through Goodwill in piles for cheap. I'll whip something up for you.
@@ActionFigureAtorium That sounds great, I'll look forward to it! : )
I’m sorry but this whole entire video is cap… NONE of those dragons and/or dinosaurs you showed even come close to Beyithirr. The toy community does not have amnesia at all because we ALL remember that there has YET to be a PROPERLY SCALED dragon that DWARFS 1/12 scale figures. Especially with that kind of detail and tbh you picking a 1/18 and a 1/12 scale female figures, which in terms of size run smaller than most male figures, is yet another truthful reminder of that fact. Let’s be real here, collectors want a well detailed and well articulated dragon to go up against their 1/12 He-Man, LOTR, Thundercats, medieval figures, etc. The fact that you had to go to a Halloween decoration 100% speaks volumes. We HAVE NOT seen ANY DRAGON of this caliber EVER and all you showed here is beyond BELOW meh, that, imo, isn’t even worth spending money on. Quite frankly all you did was make folks want Beyithirr even more because if all of that meh “treasure” was all you could find in comparison to 4H actual beast of a REAL dragon… take this video back to the drawing board. I do apologize for sounding rude and coming off as abrasive but nothing you showed in here is even up to par in the slightest of ways… I’m not even big into Mythic Legions like that as I strongly feel their figures need a bit more articulation but I’m all in on this dragon. Heck I know folks who DON’T even collect Mythic Legions, at all, who are planning on getting Beyithirr simply for all the aforementioned reason(s) listed above. To me you sound like someone who is trying their best to convince themselves that they don’t want the 4H Beyithirr of the Green (when you really actually do) simply because you don’t want to spend that much money on it…
I thought the intro was pretty good.
@@ActionFigureAtorium. Dude you hit the 4H salty fan bingo card with this one 😂😂😂. Literally every cliche including the deflection “I’m not really into legions” to throw you off. Bravo, you must be doing something right.
Also, the Beasts of the Mesozoic Arctic Dragon (without the stuff on the back and the tail) is the EXACT same size of a Mythic Legions horse. Also, the ML dragon will have an additional accessory pack with FULL wings (almost double the size) and an extend neck and other things. Lastly, Eric Treadaway said that more units sold the more they will add. Parts, a third head, one or two figures. All for the same price, effectively lowering the cost for the dragon. Well the price is the same but more value. Most in the community are all in if it is $550 or under
The Horsemen’s factory partners ALWAYS nail the paint applications perfectly They will never settle for less.
We're def at peak toy design. Their figures are all coming out beautiful and amazing like works of art. And the prices are about half of those of over the top fantasy figures you see on 5k Toys. Thanks for the comments amigo.
@@ActionFigureAtorium nah you can’t speak on any of those from 5ktoys if you don’t own a least one of them. I own quite a few of them and they are EASILY no bs 100% 1/12 scale Hot Toys. ALL the ones I have purchased are without any shadow of a doubt immaculate so don’t knock that which you have not held within thine own hands.
@@Saiorus I have a multitude of Xesray studios figures I got from 5k toys but you do make some good points on being an owner vs a speculator. I will concede your point.
definitely going to grab the entire wave, and later when they have the in stock sale, I'll probably grab a few more of the gladiator guy and a few more snake man to have a small army of them
Great video, I dig the Kickstarter/crowd fund deep dives that you do. I say go with the cigarette. Gives that masonic-zen look just the right touch of class & don't give a f*** 😉
Thanks amigo! I appreciate the kind words. I'm going to work on the look. More Kickstarter marketing analysis will be coming as soon as something launches.
Great getup, the pipe matches it best!! As for the figures, I really like the lion one. That being said, for some reason the other ones don't do it for me. I don't know why, I *should* like them, they have amazing detail and beautiful craftsmanship. Yet the designs don't speak to me, I think visually they're too cluttered for my taste. It's probably better than way though given the price tag!
9:10 That is from Hasbro My Little Pony: Friendship is Mahic. It's the character Spike that became too influence by greed and accidently grown up into a full grown dragon from an accidental magic spell!
I rescued it from a thrift store for a couple dollars where it was rolling around loose in a bin. I think it used to make noise. I'm planning a re-paint of it in psychedelic colors using black light paint.
When I first saw Death Sparrow, I instantly thought of the Oktober Guard group from GIJoe.
I wanted to get the 1993 Big Bear they made in black to go with her, but they're selling for $50 on ebay. So I went ahead and repainted the one in the thumbnail to match since its only worth $10 on the best of days. I have some other red star o-rings figures coming from that Callsign Longbow campaign. Its going to be a new Oktober Guard when I'm done with the group. thanks for noticing and the comment!
Stikfas is a Singaporean brand by Banny J. (the name of the creator), which was licensed by Hasbro for the US market. It did not last long as the brand silently discontinued in 2009 due to the creator being tied up to controversy. Hasbro did make their own product spinning off from the Stikfas brand with Xevoz (pronounced: ZEE-vohs), which is also short lived that was a collaboration between Hasbro and Banny J (Creator of Stikfas).
I did not know any of this backstory. I did find 4 unopened stikfas at my Goodwill that date to 2004 but alas they disintegrate when you open the package. I'm down to 3 now. thanks for the comment and as always, additional details are welcome.
Thanks for the Video!!...🤘Had no idea Zica Toys was working on an Eagle!!🤘 I just purchased the 1976 Mattel Eagle from ebay, it's 90% complete minus some weapons. While checking TH-cam for some Mattel Eagle Vids I noticed yours and after watching your Review & Analysis I think i'm down for a modern Eagle to compliment the vintage Eagle. Luckily the Kickstarter became Plan B and received the Greenlight. 🏁💸💸💸🏁
thanks for the comment amigo. Comments like yours keep me going.
Thanks for reporting that this thing won't work plugged in all day. Gonna pass on that reason alone.
yeah that's a bummer. plenty of great lighting kits like this available out there right now. many of them do affects like strobing and bon fire type looks.
I have a full set as well, very cool, my favorite universe with the videogames and rpg etc. I played it quite a few times with my buddies about a decade ago.
UPDATE ON THIS CAMPAIGN: The creators have found funding outside KS. From their update: "we've been able to acquire the funds needed to greenlight this project outside of Kickstarter. Since Kickstarter will not allow the funding goal to be altered we've decided to cancel the campaign and have backers migrate their orders over the the ZICA Toys online store, which we're now calling Plan B." So if you want this ship or the 4 astronaut figures which are available for $50, you pre-order it direct from Zica toys' website sometime after this campaigns closes.
21C actually had hand sets one could buy . One held the guns better, one was flat saluting, one was pointing, there was a fist and a thumbs up. There were a few more if I remember.
I've seen accessory packs but never saw any hand packs. Interesting factoid.
Actually, it wasn’t Dragon that killed ultimate soldier. It was Walmart . Walmart used to give a down payment let’s say, which helped with the production of the figures, etc. etc. and then Walmart decided not to do that anymore and the company had to pick up all that money and that’s what broke the back of first century toys. They also ventured into 1/32 scale as well as 1/18 scale, which were popular but not as popular as the 1/6 scale. If you wonder how I know this, it’s because my brother worked for 21st-century toys and he was the creative designer for their World War II line of figures. I used to work part time for them often on when I had the time. They would use a lot of my original weapons for models so they could make the little miniature ones. After leaving 21st century, my brother went to work for Sideshow collectibles. And did their whole line of 1/6th scale, military and old west.
The Ultimate Soldier 1/18 vehicles are now going for obscene amounts on eBay. Do those molds exist anymore? Thank you for your comments. Any insider stories on toy lines (especially Ultimate Soldier and Dragon) are very welcome here.
