    My accountant says she has queried this with HMRC and you can only claim via the simplified method/ flat rate £6 per week ie £26 pcm as you mention week but if you work from home in a residential property, you can only claim via that simplified method. So which one is it? Gov.UK also say you can claim a percentage as you mention. £6 a week is pisstake when i have dedicated office room & i use atleast 3 sometimes 5 days per week up to 12 hours a day. Especially when rent & utilities are through the roof!

    @gosimpletax Using your suggested splitting of time between personal use of a room and business use, how would you go about splitting a bedroom also used as an office space. Is 24 hours equals to 100% time? Also, for a rented home how important is it to calculate the amount of time used exclusively for work in the room used for split purpose?

      @@haashimj778 You can create your own. List the bills like it shows in the calculator, and include your own for broadband and metered water. 1. Assuming your total expenditure is £10,000 a year, your house has 4 rooms and 1 is being used as a home office, you would divide £10,000 / 4 = £2500. 2. Assuming the total number of hours you use the room is 200 hours, you would then get the cost per hour £2500/200 = £12.50 per hour. 3. Assuming the number of hours you use the room for work is 150, you would then multiply the hourly rate £12.50 * 150 = £1875 estimated allowable costs.

    Thank you so much for sharing 💯 It's very useful information. I have a question that needs your help. I am an UberEat driver. Can I know is the mileage from home to the workplace is considered personal use? For example, drive the car from home to the place to wait for the order. Would that still count as work-related? Also, from that place to home, would it count as work-related? And sometimes we will stay in the car to wait for the next order. Will the waiting still count as work? Or does it count for personal use? Thanks a lot for your help😊

      Not a professional. However the restaurant is a temporary place of work and not a permanent place of work therefore claiming for the mileage should be allowable under this circumstance. I claim for all mileage from the moment I switch the car on to the moment I finish for the night when delivering and track my mileage covered by using strava or looking at the mileage clock and comparing it from start to the end.

    When doing online self assessment the foreign income for the non domiciled uk tax residents even if it is less than £2000 is taken into account to calculate the tax. Is this the form to be filled in addition to online self assessment for individuals who are non domiciled UK tax residents who have had less than £2000 in interest income from overseas bank which was never remitted to UK ? OR in the online self assessment itself there is a place to mention is separately to save the additional tax being calculated for the amount ?

    One qustion, you mentioned that normally people create a separate account with 10$ income and declare that. But shouldn't you be declaring all foreign income you earned as you are going to pay 30k surcharge anyway no matter what income is? isn't not declaring income wrong as per HMRC rules?

    • @gosimpletax
      @gosimpletax 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When claiming the remittance basis you would be charged £30k when you meet certain criteria. You must nominate income but that nominated income doesn't need to be relevant to the income you're not remitting nor does it need to be the full amount. Given the complexity of the situation, we always recommend you seek advice from a tax professional. I hope this helps :) - AG

    Hi, I am a non-uk resident and will move to UK by the end of this year. Since UK's tax system is completely different from my living place and so I am planning to use your solution to handle the self assessment. I expected to be unemployed for the first 6 months or even 1 year. So, the dividend generated from US stock (purchased via interactive broker) will be my major income source. I tried to input the records on the page "Foreign Income (SA106)". Description: US CEF 1 from IB Income Category: Dividends Country Code: United States of America USA Gross amount paid: 30000 (before withholding tax 15%?) Foreign Tax Paid : 0 Withholding OR UK Tax Paid: 4500 (30000 x 15%) Do you want to claim foreign tax credit relief: Yes Is the income unremittable : No Summary: Tax liability: 1162.5 Class 4 NI contribution: 0 Class 2 NI contribution: 0 TOTAL TAX LIABILITY: 1162.5 TAX PAID AT SOURCE: 4500 PAYMENTS ON ACCOUNT: 0 TOTAL TAX REBATE FOR 2020 - 2021: 3337.5 Payment: 0 My questions: 1. Should I calculate the dividend (which paid in USD) into GBP first? (which exchange rate should I used) 2. Foreign Tax Paid : 0, is it correct? 3. I want to pay the NI voluntary contribution, how should I input on your system 4. So, what's the exact amount to be pay for UK gov? TOTAL TAX LIABILITY: 1162.5? 5. what is the exact meaning for TOTAL TAX REBATE? I need to pay 1162.5 and then later I will receive £3,337.50??
