Stihl MS290 straight piped! Sawing Birch!
มุมมอง 1.6K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
I built a custom exhaust pipe for my stihl ms290 farm boss to get a little more torque in the cut.
Good work bro! The projects before the actual projects can be daunting at times, especially in freezing temps but it’s well worth it once it’s done.
Just gotta keep grinding forward!
First mistake,,,Harbour freight gear
Good job Trees-R-Us Oregon
Harbor freight? 🤣
I don't use anything like that. I wanna be thrown clear. 😶
Ah man, you can't burn maple to evaporate maple sap! That's just wrong, smh
It does feel wrong or is it so very right? 🤣😂🤣
I have one that I made except mine looks like a mooring post and doesn’t need your two guides
Made one damn near identical bout 6 years ago and it works great 🤙💯
Alterating? Or Alternating ?
I commend your ingenuity good sir. What you've made here is the non-mechanical equivalent to something I use in the green industry known as a GRCS or Good Rigging Control System. In which has a dual use mechanical crank allowing you to not only lower trees and tree parts but also crank them up for a variety of useful reasons 👍🏼
Well the arborist watching will think just like me,you just might be on to something!
Could use a couple more wraps around the barrel of that strap. But looks good.
What is this used for
Don't you love it when you see somebody else's idea? Can you just copy it
Too bad that ratchet isn’t correct and can slip. Needs two full wraps, the sides of the strap drum is made to indicate the depth for two wraps.
If you need another video to explain what you're doing maybe put that video out first 🤦♂️
Needs the u shaped part of the porta-wrap to capture the line
Bad idea
Got a video on here of one I made like that years ago but mine is twice this size. Looks good 👍
Is yours heavy?
When I used to make those when I put them on the tree I would put two marks in the tree with the chainsaw so the channel would sit. into the two marks.
That’s a really good idea thank you!
Ok, interesting so far. Now what is it and how does it work?
Should have put spikes welded into the metal pad. That way, it would not slip at all. Add three inch spikes, so you can hammer it into the tree. Then strap it down
No please don't spike the tree...😢
Essentially a homemade porter wrap
Might as well make a couple 1/2 inch holes for screws.
Yeah I just take a wrap or two around the base no muss no fuss cool tho
Let see it on action 👍
Cut some V's in the channel to keep it from sliding up when the weight hits it
Somebody would demonstrate how this thing actually works
Lowering what?
Very nice homemade rigging device... After 28 years I still use my old porta wrap
Port a wrap is great . GRCS rules though .
@mikethetreeguy yep I remember when that came out fact of the matter if it puts the tree on the ground safe then it rules I've got 30 years no retirement in sight stay safe
Rope shredder 2000
Porta wrap on google with a dead eye sling 350 bucks max to all who said saved your self grands
Looks solid
I wish I saw it in use ....what ever it is
Saved a ton of money right there! I have one that I made years ago and it’s still in service!
I mean the device it self is not that expensive
Looks great but that strap isn't rated for what you're doing, you need a 20,000lb strap bro. I know what I'm talking about been doing this for 40 years. You can generate 4000 lbs of force in 5 feet. They thing could get sent flying up the tree at 100mph right at the man in the tree. Have the welds been x-rayed. This is why the GCRS (gravity control rigging system) is so expensive.
If you go for that design over a portawrap then you really want the capstan winch set up. Looks fine as a friction device though
Like that
I wanted to see it in use 😅
Do not powder coat trust me on this I did a bunch of stuff and it gets so hot when you lower it it will actually glue the rope to the powder coat
I ended up spray painting it instead
Yeah I really have no idea what we’re looking at here
Lot of these comments! LOL the algorithm is just favoring me for some reason.
Its a friction device for rigging. Arborists use them for lowering branches and tops. Rope comes down the tree through those loops and then you wrap it around the large diameter pipe. More wraps equals more friction.
You want that through rod parallel to the ground-10 years using one just like that........BTW if you break off one side it becomes a lawnmower
Did it work good?
I would think the eyeless the weakest link I'm not sure how you're going to work it up
Don't forget to polish the welds. Spatter can shred a rope.
That’s what I was thinking every thing needs to be smoothed and polished
Hey bud walmart sells this 12v cordless angle die grinder for like $40 with a ¼" collet. Extra batteries are cheap and the fast charger is too but watching you use your wire wheel with your drill triggered a thought that maybe you could use this tool. It works fantastic for the price and lighter weight than your drill and a more compact size. I guess your drill works just fine too, dont mean to knock it. Thank you for sharing your skills knowledge and experience. I appreciate you
Probably spins a lot faster than a drill. Thats the problem with drills they spin wire wheels too slow
Two wraps he said. That will be enough he said. Crunch. 😮 I guess it needed three. 😂
Climber starfished at the top "three was to many"
So that strap should have a 5400 pound dot working load limit. Which means the MBS should be above 20,000 pounds. Load limits for DOT rated straps are a little confusing.
So I’m plenty good 👍
I have had similar straps snap at buckle for no apparent reason. Maybe fabricate one, using two straps. Redundancy!
Yes this!!! Get a rope rated and designed for tree work
4" strap only rated for less than 2,000 lbs honestly!
That's literally already on the market. My old boss made it. It's called Shep's device.
Yes it on the market BUT The cost difference is huge when homemade.
I wouldn't trust that strap if you got it from harbor freight ..
