We jumped back in the saddle to fish another ETCATS tournament on 5/11. The bite started out a little slow but we managed to find some fish a little later in the day.

Good info, just wanted to send some positive energy your way from southwest GA 💪
Love the tank! I was wondering what you use to power the pump and how long the power source lasts. Thank you.
Does that salt work with other bait and what does it do for them exactly
Salt is really not necessary for most other bait such as minnows, bluegill, etc. Mostly just for shad or skipjacks. It helps to harden their scales, reduce ammonia, and maintain water temp.
@@fishhunteat9412 thanks
30 or 50 gallon plastic drum cut to 2 piece about 7 inch wide how ever tall the cooler is for the 2 corner side of the cooler, 5200 to glue them into place, and for the other side cut 1 long piece to glue from side 2 side for the filter compartment then you can do the filter compartment how ever you want, easiest way is to do the filter socks, If your not a serious fishermen, you don't even need to fool with this, just buy you a 30 or 50 gallon plastic drum $10-15, cut 1/3 of the top off, trim the top for a lid, cut a door to dip bait and vola... no filter needed if your not a serious fishermen.
You have a shopping list ?
Will table salt work
No Sir
I call it a puke bucket
Did you seal Around the overflow?
I do not. That way it is easily removed if need be. I do seal where it comes through the wall though.
Cartridge pumps save a lot of money over time and prevent a lot of headache. Mayfair/Johnson pumps are the most popular in my area. Great video and build! I am making a fully self contained tank right now and will be doing something similar. I am going with two pumps that will sit on top of my filter. One will have a spray bar and the other a venturi. Water will come in through slots on the bottom of the bulkhead so no stand pipe. I want my trash pickup as low as possible. Just to let people know, Flo-Rite makes fitting for anything livewell/bait tank in case you don't want to DIY pvc and fool with as much silicone and glue. They also have multiple styles of venturi. If you want to be even cheaper, you can make your own venturi like I plan on doing.
Thanks! That is some great info!
Fishing is life
Yes sir!!!
Good stuff AJ! 👍
Thanks man!
Great video, thanks , I need to build one of these!
Thanks! If you do let me know how it turns out!
People should be learning this by trial and error like the rest of us had to
That is for sure how I had to learn it! TH-cam was not a thing back when I first started trying to keep bait alive. But hopefully this helps out some of the new guys. Thanks for commenting James!
Thank you for sharing.
@@jakeb8856 Your very welcome! Thanks for watching!

What lake are you finding gizzard shad on, here on Kentucky Lake the gizzard shad have dissapeared as the asian carp took over.
We fish mostly the upper TN river. Hopefully TWRA can get these Asian carp under control!!
I've learned so much from Billy about guiding! We graduated high school together and played football (he was our "NFL" level kicker). He still has that "kicker" in his blood which is part of his success!
This is good! Nice work 👍
Very nice video 👍
Thank you sir!
Really nice video! Good tips and tricks. Tight lines!
Thank you so much!

Well done🎣🏴☠️
Thank you!
EDIT(Answered in another post/comment) What region yall in? I been hunting them flatheads in Louisiana, I work all summer and only really get to fish winter. I catch plenty of blues around toledo bend.
I've caught them in deep water at Pickwick lake and they will be white and they turn blue in live well. A buddy of mine that's a catfish guide said it was the change in depth and water temperature. Holler if you're in my neck of the woods and we can wet a hook tkx
Thanks man! Will do.
Good video! Thanks for sharing the tips!
Thanks man!
You done good. I noticed some were white is that because of water temp ? I've caught them that were white put them in live well and they turn blue
I believe in this case it is mostly due to the color of the water. We had recently had some heavy rains and the water was pretty stained. Usually they tend to be lighter colored in dingier water.
Once I've found shad and stopped the boat is there a way to chum the shad to get them to come closer to the boat and stay put?
Unfortunately no. Shad feed on plankton so there is not really a good way to chum them. The best thing to do is drop the trolling motor and ease back up to them. Most of the time in the winter they will stay put unless they are super shallow.
As a novice catfisherman I am always looking for advice to increase my catch. I appreciate your videos on this.
Thanks man!!
Thanks for the video. I always have a hard time with shad and appreciate all the advice I can find.
When it comes to catfishing is there a reason not to use a heavier line such as a #60 mono?
I have found that anything over about 50lb mono is hard to tie a solid knot. At that point you have to use a crimp which can be good and bad. I used to use a 100lb leader but had a few crimps fail on me so I dropped to 40lb or 50lb. I can get a solid knot and as long as I keep an eye on leader and main line for abrasion have not had fish break me off due to line size. I believe the most important thing is to use a quality line such as Berkley Big Game.
Looking forward to watching this series of videos.
What is if you don't have a boat
I may have something up my sleeve for the bank fishing guys! Stay tuned...........
Good video and very informative bud 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you!
What river u fishing
We fish the Tennessee River.
Please do one on bait from the bank
I will see what I can do! Thanks!
Would you do a video on how to tape your net. It may be self explanatory but, may not be.
Great idea! Yeah I will work on that and see if we can make it happen. Stay tuned......
The bad thing about using treble hooks is that it will more than likely kill them. Catch and release are degreased extremely. But if you're gonna eat them, then it doesn't matter, huh?
Yes sir you are correct. A lot of times the trout can swallow it before you can get a hook in them. But most of the time we do like to keep some to eat.
How to get bait from the bank in winter video plz thx :)
That's a thought! I will see what I can do. Thanks!
@@fishhunteat9412 sweeeet
nice teaching video...I learned a good bit..thanks!
Really enjoy fishing and catching trout.....But I eat trout and first thing I think about is every other fish I haven't eaten taste so much better. Fried or Baked makes no difference. Give me a good mess of Bluegill, crappie, bass and catfish. And that's eating...
What’s the secret to keeping them alive? Even with a well circulated live well the gizzard shad I catch die pretty quickly!
Great question! Sounds like a good idea for another video!! Stay tuned.....
Great teaching video!
Thank you!!
Awesome video! Thanks!!
Thank you sir!
Awesome video glad I found your channel and look forward to your videos to come
Thanks man! Welcome to the channel!
Great video. I have lost so many dang cast nets I would have been spooked to throw mine over that last school looked to much like a tree to me lol.
Good point! I can definitely see that! LOL
You can catch Skipjacks easily about 6 miles from where I live. I caught a 3.5 pound one there.
Dang! That’s a big skipjack!
Thanks brother!
Any time! Thanks for watching!
Crushed it! Nice video AJ! Thanks for the tips.
Appreciate it!
Wow thats alot of fish
Yep! I had to let half of them go just to get the net in the boat!
Catch and release the best kind of fishing ❤
50 lbs
Pretty close! We didn't put a scale on it but estimating low 40s.
