San Francisco Western Addition House Moves, 1979. Part 1
1979 footage by Zepporah Glass and cameraman Scott Bartlett shot for the proposed film project, "A Change of Address." Titles are not original, but added by editor Gavin Libby for showing at San Francisco Heritage's 2024 gala on September 5, 2024.
0:00 - 2:35: Coast Movers preparing and pulling out 1838 Buchanan Street (between Sutter and Bush Streets) for its move to 1410 Post Street.
2:38 - 3:58: Primarily a view south to Coast Movers relocating 1421-1727 Webster Street one block (and across the street) to 1360-1370 Webster Street.
3:59- 5:18: The former 1759 Sutter Street being positioned into new home at 1980-1982 Ellis Street.

This is a lovely video. Why are the comments turned off on the rest of the series? I suppose one can imagine all the possibilities in this godforsaken and heavily occulted city. Am going to go see if San Francisco Heritage has any videos of the preservation of lower to middle class homes of the same era. Have been living in a 1911 apartment building on the other side of Van Ness for many years watching as my landlady has been destroying the historical and physical integrity of the building. Many people who live around us tell the same story of how so many of the beautiful post earthquake apartment buildings are being ruined by the greedy stupidity of the owners. Thanks to SF.
