25-40 knot sourtherly meant a bit of a rough ride to Silica Cove at Jervis. Well worth it though. Good viz and some nice Salmon and Grey Nurse action. Hunter and Dom are crushing it at 13!

10yo son on my back while spearing Salmon!
มุมมอง 2.1Kปีที่แล้ว
This is one of the coolest, spearing moments I think I’ve ever captured. A pretty simple shot on an average sized salmon, but the kicker is that I have Morgan swimming on my back! We were two minutes into our dive and the school came in, with Morgan watching the whole event over my shoulder with his mate, Oscar in the wings. Very cool Dad moment 😎

Grey Nurse Sharks Mayhem at Jervis Bay, NSW
มุมมอง 1Kปีที่แล้ว
Is this video overcooked? Yes, yes it is. But it's not every day you get bombed by a heap of sharks and catch it on film! I think it deserves some big edits and a bigger sound track 🤓 Grey Nurse (Sand Tigers in the US) are generally pretty harmless, but I got them a little more fired up than I'd like on this occasion. I'm sure I was fine, but definitely felt a bit hectic. With my Salmon hanging...

Day 1 was ripper. Great crew on Gary's boat with Steve as boatman, Gary, Vuki and I diving. We headed north out of Botany and dived nearly every spot you can think of between Long Reef and Botany Boat Ramp. Vuki's hard work paid off with a nice size King to get him the only spot on the list for Saturday! I can tell you he worked bloody hard for this, and put my bottom time to shame (not hard). ...

Post floods dive at Merries Reef
มุมมอง 4372 ปีที่แล้ว
Dropped in at Merries Reef on Sunday - don't let anyone tell you the water is brown! It's much more of yellowish greenish mud kind of colour 😆 Sticking around the shallows scored me a week's worth of fish in a couple hours. For all those feeling the blues from salt lack, I can definitely confirm it's worth a dive. Not pretty, but worth it for your head at least 🤩

Coolant hose repair thoughts to share

Blew a coolant hose yesterday, but managed to limp to marine rescue dock to identify the issue, then they towed me to a little beach nearby so I could work on the ski to fix it. Thankfully had the right gear with me, and ended up being a chilled morning working on the ski in an amazing location. Quick vid here with a few thoughts that might help someone prepare in the future.

Hey mate ! Awesome idea. I have mine mounted long ways ( going the way with the ski ) for my spear gun, I got told having it your way, ( at speed ) could bend the shaft, have you noticed anything yet with the shaft? If not I’ll do mine your way as I can’t really use the ski when my guns are strapped in In from Vic

4 years in and no issues with the shafts, and I can't imagine how they could possibly bend in that position. Maybe your friend has a very different setup. Only thing to watch is that the rubber in the straps I use will deteriorate over time. I've replaced them recently to be sure they don't break while on the ski.

Hey mate, I'm from Medowie originally - PS is the best :) I wanted the 230, but wasn't available and the dealer convinced me to go the 170. Probably a good call I think, as it's a huge amount of power as is, and good on fuel. I drive mine hard, generally in sport mode flat out all the time and it's great. 230 might be nice upgrade one day, but super happy as it is, pulling tube is super easy. I assume a board would be too.

In open ocean, the 230 would be a waste, at least for the Sydney area. We can rarely get over 70 kmh in the swell. Unless you're just playing around in the waves I guess. 230 on the flats on the way out to the ocean would be fun, currently hitting 92kmh top speed.
