Aspasia Karageorge: What is 'authentic resonance'?

    This was an outstanding discussion touching on numerous critical issues. I love how "authentic resonance" was described and how this lead into reflections on how we make choices, how we can feel internally like we made a good choice or not, how there is a freedom in feeling like we "watch ourselves," how it can be good question thinking...all great stuff! Really well done.

    Hi Seth, I’ve just redone this lesson, and now that I have greater awareness of how my body moves, I notice that lifting my sternum with my new pelvic balance, this is changing how I relate to the rest of my body, including the movements you teach here. Thanks again!

    I know it has smth to do with my anxiety 🫠 but i hold my breath almost everytime and got tensions everywhere, in my stomach, throat, hands, knees, ankles, even in my eyes sometimes. Is it normal that i'm suffering even when i'm not anxious?

    • @movewithseth
      @movewithseth หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, breath holding is a somatic sign of anxiety. It shows up differently for each person so the purpose of this practice is to notice how it shows up for you. To your question, I guess it depends what you mean by 'suffering.' Perhaps for you these bodily tensions are so familiar that you treat them as 'normal' because your experience is "this is just how it is." While that has its validity, an important question would be: "How would life feel if these tensions did not live in my body?" This practice will not likely lead to totally eliminating the tensions you experience, but if you were to work with it over time, it could lead to a significant reduction of tensions - and perhaps a reduction of 'suffering' too! The basic idea is that if you notice yourself tensing part of your body at the moment of holding your breath and can learn to lessen that contraction even a little, you will be creating more ease in your system. Do this regularly and it can make a big difference over time. One last suggestion: check out the free training on the 5 Foundations of Presence in the caption of this video. You can also find a how playlist of videos on this channel related to confronting anxiety. There are several more besides this one.

    Im not sure how to describe what happened when I paid attention to the space of the room that the sternum was moving away from. It was as some field of perception has opened up, like a bubble of some kind, or a relation with space was created, and that relation was not only imaginary, but it was a felt sense of space. Like a merging of me, and the world, like opening up a tunnel of some sort. One more thing to add, the last lesson from this session made me fall asleep within 10 minutes of the session and I woke up at the end of it. I had to struggle today to keep paying attention as lying on the ground for more than 10 minutes signals my nervous system to go to sleep.

I've heard this complaint from time to time and each time I try to figure out how to prevent TH-cam from doing that to my channel, it is NOT obvious. Most online information I've read on how to do that doesn't match the way the dashboard for my channel actually looks. I'm supposed to click on X, but there is no X to click on... As a viewer, I decided a long time ago to cough up the money for TH-cam Premium which removes all ads from all videos you watch. Something like $10/month I think. Amazing lesson! It's the fourth or fifth time I've been doing it. As I have corns forming under my fourth metatarsals in both feet, and every three weeks I go to the podiatrist and she takes them off, but they of course keep coming back. I have tried physio exercises, feet programs, bare foot shoes, slackline, manual manipulation, but nothing has worked. Until I discovered the Feldenkrais method and started doing lessons designed for the feet, knee hip connection. After I did this lesson, even tho I have corns, I could not feel them when walking! Something has shifted, something has realigned, with no direct foot working! I found today that the top of fibula is not moving for me at all, although I could sense the fascia and muscles around it moving. I will keep repeating this lesson as it give me hope that finally something is moving me towards healthy metatarsal alignment. I also felt that I was not using the first metatarsal under my big toe at all, and I realized that when I had a test at the physio (he used some electronic mat to map the pressure point in my feet) the weight on the 4th metarsal was showing (in standing) a value of 300+ while the pressure under the big toe had a value of like 13 or 17. Amazing lesson and thank you! Do you have any other videos related to the foot or metatarsal alignment?

    Loved listening to this conversation. I felt I was in a stream of consciousness through which many ways of being were flowing - particularly when you guys were talking about concresence. Thank you both.

    Concepts are a shared field. Embodying the correct field is everything I am a set of a’ priori modes, not a body of limbs and organs. We need to move beyond the notion of “We” Human is a loose notion at best. In essence, the body conduit has no fixed predicate in the abstract lens so the premise is incorrect. What is it of us, that knows this? Until we know more, we are a set of a’ priori modes trying to stabilise our line in an ocean of dissipating variables. We should define ourselves in this manner. We are a set of modes that allow for systematic alignment. A set synthesised with realities structures and stresses. Understanding this is the next step. Everything else is tied up in a field of inverted axioms and that path is a dead end. If you want to understand the modes - TH-cam - new paradigm fish by Yap. Stripping it right back. Alternatively- read my work for free on medium. New paradigm fish Yap.

    Just found your videos. And even though I already knew something about his method (via Irene Lyon), and printed all of this book you are showing/reading, only now did I find and read his potent self book. Such a master, he’s truly brilliant. For so long I asked myself how do we/ I function and there he goes understanding it so beautifully and deeply. So glad I have found him and I do truly am grateful for finding your videos as well. Thank you so much for putting it out there, it’s such a wonder that I haven’t found any audiobook of him. People should know more about him and his way of thinking, and how to develop a “healthy use of oneself”✨

      Hi Rita, thanks for your comment. Glad you are enjoying the videos. Indeed, it would be good if more people knew about Feldenkrais. You might enjoy this free training: mailchi.mp/38989dc1a62b/5-foundations-of-presence

    But you don’t mention anything about benefits , specific benefits…..and secondly always start according to the ancient systems with the left side…..i guess this method is not for me having nothing to do with the video…..

      Sounds like your preconceived ideas about what my video should be about made it impossible for you to engage with what it actually was about.

      @@movewithseth Actually I have been in the holistic field for decades and I watch many videos. I never have preconceived ideas at all. Your video just isn’t any good for me and didn’t engage me at all. Sounds as if you can’t handle anything different from what you want everyone to think and believe. Sorry you are so overly sensitive and really kind of ridiculous. I didn’t like your video. Period. I’m entitled. Get some maturity

    Ok….i am in 12 minutes and I used to do reflexology so I am familiar with the foot and hand…..but this is moving way too slowly because I have no idea why, or the purpose and really I do not even want to do this to the end though I will watch….you say ankles and emotions…..i have not heard one word on this yet…..just saying….not an engaging video ….a good video but it does not engage me….but i will continue…..i am not meaning to be overly critical but i know nothing about Feldenkrais except the name and having lived at an ashram and know all the healing modalities since the 80s i think stating a purpose at the beginning would engage a newcomer right away….thank you….you know your stuff and this is a calming presentation….

      Absolutely! You can combine this idea with almost any activity. Becoming more skillful with spatial attention will lead to more options in terms of the coordination of your joints, your clarity of proprioception and the distribution of muscular effort throughout your body. I definitely recommend experimenting with this in many different contexts!
