Ide love to open a park dedicated to the history of amusment parks. Fill it with retro carnival rides and coasters. I bet these are considderwd unsafe now.

It looked better than it was. The tabs didn’t spin very much it was almost impossible to go upside down all the way and see you did a lot of rocking hand cavorting around but I never really did much of anything. I think after they built it they realize that their cars just don’t move as freely as they had hoped. If this had been more fun, they would’ve built 100 of them or more because there was a big demand for it. There was so little demand for it, that many places after just a year or two or three, converted their turbo to the radar because people were not riding it again and again or coming back the next year to ride it. It looked Fantastic and like it was going to give the zipper a run for it’s money. But it never lived up to the hype. In fact the radar was much more fun to ride.

I remember riding it 29 years ago at Maple Leaf Village in Niagara Falls (sadly now gone) and was sick after I rode it. It was a fun ride, though.

i still wanna know to this day why the huss pendulam ride was removed from sfga and moved to afga it makes no sense.another ride that didnt operate properly the huss pendulam really goes sideways if u see videos on youtube

why wont this flip around and not stop on top.thats not how you operate a evolution.its suppose to make a 360

If they only made a little comeback, then every amusement park would want one. They were the greatest! Even the Chance Chaos couldn't hold a candle to it!

Chance needs to bring this back but with updates.

This was the very BEST amusement park ride EVER! I got to ride it at the L.A. County Fair in the 70's, and again at a carnival some time later. Then it disappeared and I've been looking for it since. I could never understand why it was not more popular. However, I understand that it took a long time to load, and this made it inefficient. GREAT RIDE though! What a loss!

Man the turbo took forever to get in and out of. It would've been a nightmare for Carnies to put people in and out of those cages constantly. I still think the Zipper kicks the Turbo's butt

wow i never seen this ride before...i wonder why so many rides are "extinct" now and you dont see them anymore...some of them look just as thrilling as todays carnival rides.

Yeah...I was nearly killed on that damn ride. The door swung open while riding with my father. If he hadn't jammed his arms and legs across the capsule until the carnie stopped the ride, we would have surely fallen to our deaths. You can see that the restraint is in the door and if the door opens mid-ride... Still, I loved that ride and I would probably ride it again if the restraints were improved.

Sadly, this was another one of those great rides that was plagued with mechanical issues from the get-go. I was lucky enough to get on it once, maybe twice, and it was an excellent ride!!!

Well if the one in playland i converting to open seating it will be a raven or radar. thats to bad i was hopeing for an orignal turbo but glad it is being restored.

Three Chance Turbo's are currently in the restoration process and the one for Playland Vancouver is being reworked to use open seating by Chance. There is one in California that is partially restored as well as Bell's Turbo in NSW, Australia undergoing restoration. A few Turbo's have been scrapped in the last ten years and a few are in limbo. There are a few Raven/Radar's out there (the Turbo's cousin)

There were 26 chance turbos made.the reason you don't see many turbos any more is because alot of carnival owners left them to collect rust on there lots shame. rumor has it that the one in china was bought by playland in vancover canada and will debut in 2016 i hope this is true.

It's in St Louis now. The new ride program does not stop at the top now. Just one complete circuit around and thats it.

I rode this as a kid during a family vacation to Wildwood, NJ. Absolutely loved it!

Idora Park in Youngstown, Ohio had this ride until the park closed in 1984. Haven't seen it since.

So, that's how you sit in it and ride it...the mystery's solved! I had wondered all of those years how people sat inside. Thanks for the video! I'd love to ride a Turbo one day. My favorite ride ever is the Sky Diver though.

I heard the manufacturer only made two or three of these rides.

I rode it at crystal beach in the late 70's that first drop lifted me off my seat looking at Lake Erie. I was speechless. This is sad in a way. But glad it has a home. Nothing like a wooden roller coaster

This is now Excalibur at Six Flags St. Louis and they dont stop it at the top. They so should!
