This channel serves as an historical archive of the independent 'indie' music scene in the UK and US in the late Eighties and early Nineties and is not monetised. From a personal perspective, I perceive 1988 to 1992 to have been the 'golden years' for this scene and the majority of the videos are from this era. I collected these videos as a youth over the years and all are posted for fun/education for fans, collectors and students alike, so please enjoy. Obviously, I don't own the copyright on any of these videos so, if you do and would like them removed from this channel, then please PM me and I will take them down. I'm interested in growing this archive (and filling in the many gaps) for everyone so if you have any old VHS tapes lying around of similar material, please get in touch I can digitise them and return your tape to you . I'm particularly interested in acquiring copies of early 'Rockin in the UK' episodes, the US version of 'Snub TV' and any of MTV's '120 Minutes'.
The Cure - The Big Hand + Cut live (Snub TV) January 1991
The Cure performing 'The Big Hand' and 'Cut' live at the Town and Country Club 2 in Highbury, London on 17 January 1991, together with an interview with Robert Smith.
The band were billed as 'Five Imaginary Boys', rather than The Cure (a reference to their debut album 'Three Imaginary Boys'). This low-key/secret gig was used as something of a rehearsal for their London Wembley Arena concert (as part of the Great British Music Weekend series of concerts), which they headlined two days later on 19 January 1991.
'The Big Hand' appeared as a B-side on the 'A Letter to Elise' single, released on Fiction Records on 5 October 1992 and was later included on the 2004 compilation box set 'Join The Dots: B-sides & Rarities 1978-2001'. It was also the first time this track was performed live in concert.
The track listed in the footage as 'Away' was in fact an early version of 'Cut' and appeared on the band's ninth studio album 'Wish', released on Fiction in the UK and Elektra in the US on 21 April 1992.
Originally broadcast on 'Snub TV' on BBC2 on 4 February 1991.

One of my favorite artists. She’s great
As a fan of her music back in the 80s it is so strange to stumble across these videos. In person she is not at all like what I expected.
Great stuff
This version of the song is great, it's also on the Cherry Red C88 compilation.
Thought it was Jim Carrey
Legendary band ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤super track❤❤❤❤
Is anybody else listening to mad Cyril getting blamed? In 2025?
PLEASE release this show!!!!!!!!!!
Knew I knew Jim Jones from somewhere.
I love Danielle's music. She's multitalented and comes across as a very intelligent and thoughtful person in this interview. I wish she'd had more success...
I Love The Cramps and all the different lineups but this was my favorite when Candy was playing bass with them. She was drop dead gorgeous and I had a huge crush on her.
Where is Hooky¿
My mate Graham judd got me into mc4 . I a life long nma fan ..ta gj.
I love punk but mega city four ere the best ever period and i born n bred in Aldershot.
LOVE YOU CAMERA MAN AGAIN AND AGAIN
Play it loud and listen to that fuckin bass line, come in let’s have a look
Soundtrack of early 90's!!
I remember seeing this version of the video on MTV when it came out and I am still in love with Kim. You can't take your eyes off her. I'm swooning like I'm 25 years old again.
THE ORIGINALS EVERYTHING ONWARDS SPAWNED FROM THEM 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥✊🆎🏴
Cool
I miss Martin Gilks 😿 I am thankful Miles is still very much alive and active 💖
Ayande, you need to get some real compassion and stop using the divine feminine to get laid.🙏🙏🙏
I don’t know what happened to andre Florez a.k.a. I am andre, but he sure is a poser now. Right on Michael Franti!
Yep, there’s no doubt about it….once you get past Runcorn it does start to look a bit like Texas 😂
Spirea x have a special place in that era they have a unique sound that transcends both the past and the future of psychedelia.
I can feel Kim's not comfortable here, after she spoke about it. It must be their first or one of the first public performance together, when recording the album in Scotland.
Amazing song 🎉
Ever se a cloud catch fire ?
Who's the lady with short black hair in the grey t shirt.?
Fit isn't she mate. 👍
..pity the song was crap ..
your crap
This was right after his creepy-crawler phase as he was transitioning to becoming a motivational speaker for underground rock crowd.
RIIIIIIDE…..OWAAA….TIGER…….. sends shivers down my spine that
I didn’t know Josephine played a Rick bass!
They were good, Spirea X, but there were plenty of bands back then following the same sonic path...they just got lost amongst the also-rans
Totally mesmerised and inspired by this when I first saw it...they were never an 'indie' band for me...this is hardcore and she was a trailblazer for early Riot Grrrl...
This band and the corrs have to be the only bands with 3 women and 1 man.
Horseman(Derek Ryder, Dad) grooving away behind his Son Horse, if it wasn't for Derek we'd be lucky to have heard them?
Gosh! Very strange listening to this. I drove the Shop Assistants van on one tour across the UK we were all very young. R.I.P. Alex
You changed sounds so good
Knowing the story of the band, I can't help but feeling sadness for Terry Bickers at the time this was recorded for he was going through emotional turmoil.
Best concert for me well 1
Que hermosa ❤
🎉🎉😂
Definately my favourite version of 'Wrote for luck' . Better than the album version or any other remixes/ live sets etc. Happy Days
I love this version of Cut
Seemed to be the very peak of existence - top of the mountain stuff
Anyone spot the copper? Clue: he's at 11:11. 'Ello 'Ello 'Ello
God, Ian actually sounds amazing here. The whole band are killing it.
