    Great discussion, and one i can totally relate to. It occupies the mind and brings mind-body into one piece (peace). There's no room for error (injury or wood goes into garbage pile), hence there no room for bull-sht. What axe was that? Is it from Kharkiv forge or some related vendor?

    At 10:44 I get the impression that the axe is very, very sharp. Is the edge ground to an angle like a sushi knife or is the edge still axe-like?

  • @Boardwoards

    Most things have the potential to be meditative practices, say tetris which is like stacking wood piles for instance. Stacking wood turns into a flow state of tossing pieces into a well locked puzzle and if you search for it there's people who make art out of how those all lock together viewed from the side. Satisfying splits like having pieces fall into place! You seem to really get that value out of Carving and it helps to see how to get the same value of really getting the process as you involve with all the other things you like but don't quite have an intuitive line to see through.

    Really appreciate this video. I will take so many tips into my next spoon billet carving 😊🙏I especially like how you cut the sides first. I also have had difficulty deciding how deep to cut the crank. Drawing on the side seemed to help but watching you - you seemed to cut about 1 cm deep- is that correct? Thanks heaps for posting this 😊

    Newbie here. Just wondering if you had a hard dry wood. Id guess you could soak it over night to soften it couldn't you. Maybe it woukd crack when drying. I dont know. Just thinking I have some mixed seasoned fire wood. And some really old pieces of lumber saved.. Like cedar, walnut and oaks. I know they would suck to whittle on seasoned. But I'd love to find used for it. I need a Hobbie lol

    Lovely video! What properties make wood more favourable for a beginner? (Apart from straight grain that is). I have some kiln-dried hardwood I saved from the fire. Lovely wood but it's super hard. Still worth using for a beginner project? Thanks!

    • @acwoodwork
      @acwoodwork 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment. My advice, leave the hardwood for furniture. Get yourself some fresh cut green wood and carve away. Dried wood isn't super good for spoon carving with knives

    Hi AC . Is it possible to carve any kind of bowl or plate for beginners? I wonder if you ever took on a project like that. Thank you for your guidance. I see you do not have many views or subscribers, such a shame that awesome skills like yours are not appreciated but useless stuff like TikTok memes have millions of views. Thank you for taking your time for us.

      Thanks so much for your kind words! There are ways to make bows and plates using a pole lathe, which I don't have. You can also do it by hand which takes much longer. In pretty much all about spoons myself at this stage sorry
