The Path to Unlocking the Muscle Up

In this video I explain the steps it takes to unlock your muscle up. This is the process I would recommend in order to unlock your first rep, the training session becomes a little different once you can consistently rep out a few muscle ups. The more experience you have with basic pulling and pushing movements, the easier the skill will be to train. Let me know if there's anything you would lik...

    Hey bro, great video! But I have one question... I want to master few calisthenics things: like hs pushup, muscleup, tuck blanche etc. And tell me, is it better to master one after another or try to master all gradually at once?

    • @teotlkev
      @teotlkev 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It sounds like you want to focus on pushing skills so I would say pick either planche or HSPU to be your #1 priority. I personally focused entirely on mastering the handstand and HSPU before taking planche training seriously. The carry over from bent arm movements doesn’t transfer very well to planche. It’ll definitely give you the proper conditioning but the straight arm demands for planche requires a lot of dedication to that skill alone. It ultimately comes down to which skill you want to learn first! Wish you the best brother💪🏽

      2-3x a week for HSPU is definitely a sweet spot. The way you have it structured can work, just make sure the time in between is allowing you to recover. Training pulling movements on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday will also be a good idea to avoid any muscle imbalances. Once you feel like strength is no longer an issue, I would start adding more attempts at the beginning of the session before moving on weighted dips, BTW HSPU, or push ups. Stay consistent bro! @@teotlkev Do you ever increase the reps up to hypertrophy? Or only low reps/hold time? Because many people claim that only low reps won't work because of fatigue due to the high intensity

    • @teotlkev
      @teotlkev หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@personlichkeitsentwicklung5375 I agree that training low reps isn’t optimal. I currently train in the hypertrophy range for both hold times and presses when I use a heavier band (red). The lighter bands definitely take more out of me but I’m gradually building week by week to get into the hypertrophy range for the moderate and light band, specifically with the straddle planche in all holds and presses. So to summarize, I train in the strength range (low reps/hold) but through progressive overload I build up to the hypertrophy range, then repeat the cycle until I reach the lightest band.

    Hi again Teotl! It is not directly related with planche training. But out of curiosity, don't you feel fatigued Tuesday and Thursday having to train HSPU since you already train for planche the other 3 days? Also, what are your toughts on doing 3 times both pulling and pushing work(full body except legs) instead of 6 spread throughout the week?

    • @teotlkev
      @teotlkev หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used to feel very fatigued from the planche training when I initially started earlier this year, but my body has adapted to the work load pretty well now. MWF is straight arm focus with planche and front lever (horizontal movements), whereas T/TH/SAT is HSPU and basic pulling (vertical movements). I think training both pulling and pushing movements for strength 3x a week is great! It gives you enough recovery in between to get very good workouts in. The main reason I train 6x a week is bc I found it helps me retain my skills better. Keep it up man💯

    Hi👋 I really wanted to know how the eccentric HSPUs are written as sets/Reps. Is one set equivalent to 1 (5sec) Eccentric HSPU or is one set for example 3 (5sec) Eccentric HSPUs? Would really love an answer to this 😊

    • @teotlkev
      @teotlkev หลายเดือนก่อน

      The reps can be done in whichever way you’d like. If you are just starting out then I would recommend going for 1 single 5sec eccentric, then building up to doing multiple reps of that in each set. As long as you are increasing the time under tension (longer eccentrics) or increasing the reps over time, then you will see a ton of progress! You can spend workout #1 doing longer eccentrics for maybe a single rep, and then workout #2 of the week can be focused on multiple eccentrics in 1 set.

      @WUNNA1TUCKULUS I would start by getting very comfortable in the 90* hold, then implementing 90*HSPU eccentrics, followed up pushing from the 90* hold to a handstand (concentric), and once you understand the motion then I would suggest using the band to perform multiple reps. I’ll be making a guide on this skill in the future!
