It's a grass roller, you could probably find one online

I make my pitch just by cutting it with a mower and mow it very short but is is very very green

Yes for a bowler it does every well

It's kind of funny how this is still better than Indian pitches.
What about Aussie wickets like the one at the mcg Boxing Day last year? English pitches are still best

Kasim Al Jassim I don't know but it doesn't really matter as long as there's enough space to bowl quickly :)

What if you dont have a roller
anthonyaldousgaming1 Not completely necessary but you could use a wheelbarrow but you could also just ensure the pitch is dry by keeping moisture of it. Thanks for the comment XD

anthonyaldousgaming1 the grass itself doesn't hugely matter as long as the soil is dry and the grass is cut low. You could fertilise the grass before and after you start up the pitch- as in once in the spring and once in winter. P

You need to get yourself a 2nd hand Ransomes Ajax MKIII cylinder mower to finish it off and maintain it. They cut down to about 4mm.
Dave Thompson I mean for backyard cricket with a tennis ball I don't think it's that necessary but funnily enough I may well soon be getting a motor cylinder mower! ;)

How long did it take mate
Ishaq Brais Roughly an hour and a half, but remember it is a lengthy process and the perfect pitch will require rolling and more mowing the day after!!

Good job bud. Quick tip. Don't cut across. Keep it in one direction. Cutting across will make it uneven.

Why bother with the push mower mate ?
We love cricket Thanks for the comment. The push mower ensures there is a finer cut before using the rotary mower which also means that the pitch will be more healthy when finished, and less dusty when using!!:)
If you run straight over it with the other mower I don't see how it makes any difference at all?
Going over straight away with the petrol mower can damage the grass, as it's too long for the rotary mower to cut closely. Therefore, cutting with a cylinder first gets the grass shorter and finer; meaning a better cut when using the petrol mower. Thanks for watching!! :)
