The name of the proxy file needs to match the original file name. If you rename one, you need to rename also the companion file.

@@TheBestShowman Same here in Philippines, it overheated even using 1080p in 30fps after 30 minutes and already in the latest firmware.

@@musiclyrics0000 This is so strange. Could a defective batch have been delivered to the Philippines? I would have the camera replaced and then see if the problem is resolved with the new one.

This surprises me. Have you installed all the updates? As for now I heard about just a few cameras with an overheating problem, mostly sold in Romania.

I am glad I could help. I now own the Action 5 Pro and DJI managed somehow to keep the temperature lower, for now it never overheated on me, not even at 4K100. 🙂

It should work. It's still working on my OA3 after the newest update. So far I know, the latest updates only concernes the use of the new batteries.

Hello there! Thank you so much for letting me know. This is very disappointing. I was ready to hear that the Action 5 overheats but I was really hoping the fix would work as for the predecessors. Have you tryed to put the fix on the root directory of the internal storage? And then remove the battery for a few seconds und maybe run a reset?

Yes, I tried all the options. I also put the crackconfig file in the internal memory, removed the battery, reset to factory settings, etc. It doesn't work on Osmo Action 5 Pro unfortunately. The crackconfig file works even on Dji Pocket 3 not only on Osmo Action 3 and 4.

Well, it should work, if you copy the file directly onto the internal storage. After that, remove the battery for a few seconds. If it doesn't work this way, try a reset. But now I have a question for you... you are the first one I hear complaining about an OA5 Pro overheating. Does it really? And if yes, at which settings?

@@TheBestShowman Okay, thanks, I'll try. Yeah, i've tried multiple settings via 4k60, 1080p60 and 1080p30 and it lasts between 10 to 25 minutes and then overheats and stops recording. I've used it as a dash cam for my car

@@iSkayer I am sorry to hear that. I was hoping, due to the smaller bitrate, the cam would't do that. Please let me know if you are able to get the fix to work on the OA5 Pro.

@@TheBestShowman hello, yeah. So first things first this thing is not meant to be a dash cam, it needs proper airflow getting through it or some source of coolness. Secondly, using internal storage makes it hotter and faster than a microSD card, so i've ended up using a card, making it last longer. Unfortunately i still have the issue with closing because of heating too much while using it as a dash cam in my car, even when using a card and the bypass file, it just takes a bit longer. I don't think the bypass file works at all. However i have no issue whatsoever when using it on my moto helmet, it will close when the battery drains. So it just depends on what you're using it for. I'd recommend it only if you have a source of cooling it

I'm not sure if I understood your question but no matter at which framerate you shoot, DJI will always produces the smallest companion files and max 30 fps. This does not work in Davinci. In this case you cannot use the files as proxies but you need to have Davinci converting these files for you.

@@TheBestShowman so I wonder why the dji let me shoot at 4k and 120 fps if I can't get 120 fps as an output. This doesnt make sense right? Thank you so much

@@atknslcn The original file is 120 fps if you shot it that way. Of course you can use the original file with those 120 fps. Filming at 120 fps doesnt make the video any better, it only means that you can slow it down smoothly to 200% if your timeline is 60 fps or 400% on a 30 fps timeline. But all this has absolutey nothing to do with the .lrf files. That's a whole other story.

I own the Action 3 and it overheats the same way then the Action 4. Indeed this fix was made for the Action 3 but it also works on the Action 4.

@@FreezyChannel Do you own the Action 5 already? Actually the fix was working also on the Pocket 3 when it first came out (after the first firmware update it wasn't needed anymore). So I am positive it will work also on the Action 5 if needed.

@@TheBestShowman i just own an action 4 but i consider buying one. In case of the pocket 3 an update from dji solved the problem with overheating which is not the case with the action 4. i am from the eu so it is likely imo that the 5 has a insane eu regulation but i don‘t know. Due to the fix i was able to use my action 4 for extended time without overheating shutdown in extreme environments like the death valley. So before i buy id like to know if there are any issues and possible ways to fix them. Maybe the future will tell us ☺️ but thank you for your rapid response 👍

Thank you for your feedback. Well, 27° is already a good temperature to get the device to heat up quicker. 4K60 is a lot of work for that tiny camera and one hour of constant recording is a lot. If you are not planing in slowing down your video in post, I suggest to record in 4K30. This way it shouldn't overheat anymore. Let me know if it works.

I am glad I could help. I am using this fix since I bought the camera almost 2 years ago. Using the fix it overheated just once after recording for a very long time @ 4K/30, it turned off the screens but it kept recording until the battery was empty. It was very warm that day, over 30° C... but that was the only time that happened to me.

I also had to fight with the cam over SD cards and non of the formats working, until I realized the only think that works, is formatting it on the pc to exfat, something that every single Google results told me NOT TO DO, but if I format in the camera the sd card becomes the wrong format 🙄 otherwise the camera working great and specially after the heat hack.

@@Hkarl85 I actually never had problems with the SD cards. I guess I formatted them once when I bought them but I don't remember if I did it in the cam or on my PC 🙂

Depending on your video editing software, you have to create new proxy files. These .lrf files are useless for editing in this case.

I shoot vlogs at 4k 30 as well as 50 fps using the osmo action 4, can I use the proxy for editing in Mac (davinci)?

@@Traveltoexplore675 I have no experience with Mac. It should work with the 4K30 but probably not with 50fps, since i think in this case DJI records the companion files in standard 25fps.

No, it's not. The camera will shut off anyways when reaching aprox 60° which in normal conditions it never reaches. This file only bypasses the EU regulations but it doesn't touch the native temperature regulation of the cam.

@@MishganSP No. Nothing is changed in the firmware. It only works as long as the file remains on the memory card.

It does not remove anything. It just bypasses the limit set by EU regulations. The camera shuts down regularely when reaching a critical temperature like it does in every other country ouside the EU.

@@TheBestShowman well it clearly does something if the limit is 48° and after the fix it works for longer periods. may I ask you at what temperature have you (or anyone else) noticed it turning off after the fix? I'm not attacking you or anything and while I can appreciate the fix you provided I'm just asking if I can expect the battery to overheat and set on fire while being on someone's head XD. my camera is overheating at a day temperature of 18° in the UK while recording at 1080p 60fps, both screens set to shut off after 2 seconds, with no EIS or any other fancy additional setting. I wish the camera wouldn't have this issue and am really hoping your fix works but if it reaches the "overheating" temperatures of 48 degrees in this mild climate, I'm sure as hell worried about taking it to Spain or anywhere else with higher temps. the damn camera shuts off after 8 mins of recording! I have the Action 3 btw with a Samsung EVO Select 128GB UHS-I U3 130MB/s. is the SD type not good for it? thanks for your reply either way

@@yourbadday89 Actually this fix has absolutely nothing to do with the battery overheating. This fix only bypasses the device overheating. It regularely shuts off once reaching approx 60°C. But as I said, this has absolutely nothing to do with the battery. I personally never heard anything about a battery overheating. If it does in your case, I guess something must be wrong with it. By the way, my camera did shut the screen off two or 3 times since I use the fix and kept recording without problems. It never reached a critical temperature... and I live in Germany... The critical temperature where the cam completely shuts off must be somewhere around 70°C. But it never happened to anyone so far I know.

I don't own the Pocket 2 so I don't know. Just try it out. I guess it will work. If it does, I would appreciate your feedback. Good luck 🙂
